I agree with you... It seems that today the only reason to train a skill is to see it at level 99 and to be able to say "Oooooh pretty cape". Lots of people do it for the recognition of the skill level as well... No one really trains skills because they have to in order to do something. They just do it if they're bored and have nothing better to do.

Yeah I recently got 180m for the sole purpose of buying a green partyhat... Pretty much has been my goal since I started Runescape. Now I can't buy them unless I have 10-15k prayer potions or a lot of pumpkins/disks. Pumpkins and disks don't sell either so they're pretty impossible to buy.
