I hope so, does anyone know what the damage soak for a slayer helm is? I don't know for the regular slay helm, but while I was sifting through my bank to see soak values of my equipment, my FSH didn't show absorption. A shame though, could have been even more useful for a Jad task. i tested slayer helm (full) and it has no soak. i think.

The problem is that youre trying to make a Mellon, apple and bananas weigh the same. Each class is simply too different in too many ways. How could that be fixed? if you have no idea what I am talking about, its the combat triangle. a force in runescape that, although never really seen, can be felt everywhere... ...but not enough. I shall go strait to the point, this is Nothing but what I think someone here is bound to find my views stupid or the like, but that is why your here. to show me the mistakes I have made, or possibly, mistakes I have not made! also worth noting, please, if your going to mention my horrible spelling/grammar. feel free to, as long as its not the only thing youre going to talk about. now my basic idea is this: each combat class is too different to be balanced, so lets make them behave more like each other, while still trying to keep variety. Suppose range and mage got given 3 different forms of damage (same as melee stab, slash, crush) You could just make melee have one type, it would be easier, but probably make the game a bit blander. Mage would be easy, just having different elements (would need some work from the current 4 ele system though) or different side effect or the like. Or if you want something different the damage types could be like "Conduct" damage by getting the magic to go IN your opponent. "Blast" damage by the explosion created (think what spells looked like b4 the update) "Manipulate" damage done by using stuff around you and shoving it in there face (think current earth spells) Metal armour would probably have better defence vs. manipulate and blast but poor vs. conduct, leather armour would be resistant vs. conduct but have lower defence vs. blast and manipulate or something like that Range could have some like... pierce, melee equivalent of stab, and idk what else. Arrows would be more like a stabbing weapon, Bolts would be crush equivalent, Throwing axe (as an example) would be slash equivalent, Each ranged ammo has the option to use other damage types in the same way you can use slash or crush on a 2h. Armour would be updated to have stats differing in, not only melee defender, but in range and mage also. Same with weapons. with that out of the way people now can specialise, like some meleer use a 2h on crush to hit past melee armour but have it to slash to hit though mage/range armour. Next would be how to allow people to customise there skills. B4 you think WTF?! I am talking about how people can make a str pure, or decide to get higher attack rather then str. One possible option is to simply remove attack and str and make a melee skill. But one again it would probably make the game blander not to mention all the people complaining! So the only real option is to allow mage and range to adjust there abilities somehow. It does not need to be via 2 skills like melee (although it would be relatively simple) it could be the type of style, or ammo/weapon youre using. Like how you can choose to fight aggressive or accurate, but with much more significant effects or a possibility is that armour comes in 2 main types, accuracy and damage boosting. So a ranger could use a black d hide body with its +30 to ranges accuracy, or a black d hide with +20 accuracy but + 5 ranged strength, possible not the armour and just the weapon though, an attachment like the longbow sight that effects damage is a very good option (side note about ranged strength, even the symbol for that has a melee hint in it >.> , it should be replaced with something else). The next thing would be ammo. too remove ammo for ranges and mage is just a bad idea. so what could be done to make it all even? now mage should cost more then range that costs more then melee. but the difference in cost is to steep. somehow melee should cost more and mage cost less (assuming ranged makes a good centre point) now if mage costs less should be via items such as SoL or simply cheaper/need fewer runes. how can melee are made to use more money, lowing the armours defence would help in the way of using more food. Maybe make melee potions more expensive then mage/range (7.5k for 5 level mage boost or 3.5k for 2 potions that raise attack and str by 5 at level 25 or 19 levels at 99) or be evil and give melee weapons a degrading effect (wouldnt you need to resharpen that scimy after trying to cut though all those rune plates?) truth is though; I dont really know how this should be done. As there is no real one way to do this, at least without giving up the use of the forums for a week. No one should deny that after all this A LOT more still has to be done. But all I set out to do was set what I think the foundation for a truly balanced combat triangle. For anyone who does not wish to read all that. #1 give mage and ranges different damage types like melee has stab, slash and crush. #2 allow mage and range to adjust there stats is more ways then just getting better. in the same way someone can make a str pure for KO power, let rangers give up accuracy for extra damage etc #3 makes melee a bit more expensive, mage a bit less expensive. p.s. the problem with smithing is its filled with useless junk no one uses. how many times have you seen rune warhammer, short/long swords, mace, medium helm, dagger, squere shield being used? if they got rid of half of thouse items, thats 18 or so smithable items gone. now a rune platebody at level 81 is still too high but its better then 99. a few of them should stay in dragon form though (remove dragon dagger? lololno). and for something compleatly difrent: in dunge, t10 requires level 90 in a skill. t11 requires 99 in a skill. thigns would have to be moved around if the skill cap was made 120, for a start t11 should be moved one level to 100. then you gota add t12 and 13... yikes! not to mention a rather odd number to end on (who would want a t13 item? :P)- The effect of a Balanced combat triangle.
Tbh I outkilled few maxed melee, with turmoils, extremes, CLS and DFS (yeah .. I know .. It's not the same .. but) without using ANY potions and prayer. And by outkilled I mean for every 3 dragons they kill .. I killed 5. But considering my experience with this sort of stuff I suppose it was mere luck. you must tell the secret of how to outkill someone slaying in cls and dfs :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o I lol'd. Yeah, CLS and DFS, even with turmoils and extremes, is like using a d scim and a rune defender. +1. Try to outhit someone who's not in noob gear and see how it goes. indeed, allthough this is a bit of topic. a lot of the time useing medium level melee gear still outclasses high end mage/range gear.- A level 8 with a Fire Cape
Well money is the only reason runescape still exists ... jagex, runescape, even we need money. runescape has zero reson whatsoever to stop makeing money... ...but at what cost? maybe its not about the money, maybe there just unable to fight them enough. at a basic level, its less risky to reset someone then ban them (in case of not being a bot) alowing to "attack" more botters. its like saying, ban 1 bot, or half ban 2 bots i guess. all i can really say is i hope bots, in the end, do get banhammered in one way or another. also an intresting point no one has apeard to mention, if you botted, got ur stats reset, botted, got ur stats reset... eventuely you would stop botting. this may not be as bad as it looks. without knowing the true motives behind this, it could well be a blessing in disguise!- Kid, you're a Noob, Nerd.
noob: yes i am a noob, so are you. everyone is a noob in one way or another. kid (my vote): for someone to say this to me is only anoying becouse its not an insult. if your going to ofend me, do it right. nerd: this is what i would say. im just happy with the fact that i am superior to anyone who has to thorw garbage at me for any efect... and still fails. :) although... there are 2 things that annoy me... "g@y" and "bad spelling" its not that i have anything againt same gender atraction (even have a few good friends like that) but why do people use it to insult me? the only thing that i hate about that is when people use it to insult people... its not an insult! as for my horrible spelling, sorry, that does not mean im some 10 year old, or that i am "mentaly delayed", its just means i have bad spelling. i cant help it, its the same as trying to change your self so you walk backwars everywhere. no real need and very hard.- Capital in F2P is useless?
one you get enough money for: a few hundred swordfish a fair amont of runes rune armour, 2h, scimy, axe n pic. adamant arrows. upkeep of gravite weapons. upkeep of pking gear. enough for all skills to level 50ish. thats all you will ever need. you could get god/rune armour, gold trim d-hide, high level skills, partyhats or just a plain pile of chash. but thats all stuff people want, not need. if you got all the money you will need in f2p, and go to members, you would be able to buy a medium grade armour part or 2. most barrows platebodys are at around 4 to 6 mill bout now. in a nut shell: useless? no usefull? no.- No more wasting arrows at mini games!

Agreed, the Warriors guild is packed with people who already have dragon defenders. agreed agreed, i left after i got 1 ddef, no mask. its allright to stay for 2 or 3 ddef's, incase of death etc, but you see people with like 16... go away... comeback in a week- 07-Dec-2010 - Warriors� Guild and Dragon Defender

there is very big difrence between an item being TOO good and made bad, then an item being good and made mad. its another thing entirely for an item to be TOO good and made ok. im not saying the hood is too good, but its worth pointing out. anyway. yea the hood is usefull, maybe too usefull. imo it would of been best to not have it in the first place, dunge is about skilling and fighting to victory, skilling is allsmot not usefull (besdies gettin in to a bonous room, why would u ever make a skill pot?!), combat is used a lot though, to remove combat also kinda makes things a bit dry. they should put some form of limit on the hoods efect, as though to be sometimes visible wven without a mage. then also should had harsh melee penaltys (-20 stab, slash, crush?)- 07-Dec-2010 - Warriors� Guild and Dragon Defender
i found it easy to get my ddef, its was, believe it or not, fun. i only have 1 so far, im gona get 1 or 2 more as death thingies and space holders, but as the the first one, it just was fun whatching other people rage and fun getting the kill b4 they did. i never managed to kill a cyclosis (managed to steal one but then someone stole it from me!) but i have plenty of tokens for that l8or. anyway, this may be a bit of topic, but anyone ever realise that piety is just chivarly +5% its attack, str and def boost are the same +5. this may seam off topic, but the ddef has the same stats as the runedef +5 (well only in melee stats, and +1 to str) lazy? :P- Pc or Conquest?
if you get in a good pc clan, that fastest. if you cant, conquest is faster. unles your bad at conquest.- Iron or Coal

you should get 50 range just for the mage short bow regardless of needing it for the quest or not. so, yes. but dont be afraid to finish it without the mage short.- Monkey Madness Quest
the boss fight is is easyer then any of the other random animals you find around ape atol. as long as you have pro mage. have 37 prayer, and at least 2 prayer pots. it is posible to melee it to victory without takeing damage if you really do feal to weak to mage or range (your not), just attack (pray mage) hit ONCE even if you hit a zero and run away b4 it can melee you back. i did that, and it worked. although i should of mages it lol.- 2 minor flipping questions

We all know combat is unbalanced. This is not a thread to talk about how unless required for your point, as there are many many other topics for that. But I have yet to of seen anything more then a few lines on a small selection of things about who it would benefit the game. now don’t get me wrong, a perfectly balanced combat triangle (CBT) would almost certainly make the game better, but people never seam to never mention how much better or just assume it will make a lot of a difference with no major reason as to why. its well known that jagex is really trying to balance the CBT and have made lots of progress, mage level boosts damage, SOL, high end range and mage prayers etc, its also well known that its going to take a lot more then that to finish it. what do you think the advanatges of a balanced CBT be? maybe the disadvantages? I simply ask this, we always nagg for one, but what would a balanced CBT really do for the game?- Wellfaring K'ril Tsutsaroth and Zilyana
other options cape - god cape (zero risk and god protection) amulet - glory, holy/unholy simbol (protection + high prayer bonous) ammo - 1 zamorak/saradomin arrow. (just for kill count until you get to the boss its self) body - blessed d hide (risky but the added benefit of god protection can be worth it) ring - exsplorers ring (zero risk, +1 to prayer)- What shields are worth it?
1: rune kite is better then granite shield in everything but ranged defence. d shield is better then rune kite. get rune rune kite > d shield (to exspensive, even if still cheap) > granite shield 2: "worth" is not really a factor. its the best shield for f2p, its not to hard to get. if you dont hate fog, get it. 3: yes 4: not really, its just an overly exspensive shield with ok stats. geting the bow is better as its more exspensive to buy (you get one free after a quest) and the crystal bow is usefull. 5: if you can aford them, yes yes yes yes yes yes. if you cant aford them, no. arcane for mage attack, devine for pure damage reduction. elysen for a cheaper version of devine. or just a plain blessed if a reletively cheap option. 6: the DFS is not really worth it. its high defence can be usefull but for any time you dont need defence (cough slayer cough) a defender beats it epicly. my advise, just get 2 or 3 ad shields so you can keep a space holder. 7: no 8: no i wont go on about the efect as you said (although i will just just this: it might as well not have the efect) they have high stats and good a accuracy bonous. but there dam exspensive to get, and dam exspensive to upkeep it. 1 chaotic weapon >>>>> one chaotic shield 9: top being best. Divine spirit shield Arcane spirit shield = Elysian spirit shield (depends if you value defence or mage attack) the rest of the spirit shields dragon defender rune defender DFS (fully charged) Toktz-ket-xil -Obsidian Shield- rune zerker shield rune kite zamorak dont bother... -magic 1: yes, but the blast box would be better for combat vs players (tome of frost is best as to train mage cheaper, equip a air staff n the tome and water blast your way to levels!) 2: yes, but only just. a zamorak book wouks nicely and has 5 prayer bonous. 3: -range 1: ranged has such high accuracy that you wouldent care if you got a god book or a rune kite equiped. its about the prayer bonous or the defence. 2: yes 3: use both, but mainly the crossbow. -other 1: well for shield not mentions, not a lot. just get dragon defender and unholy book and your basicly set. 2: most shields. 3: 3rd age any god books besdies unholy and holy. insted of puting a soak ontop of curent efects it would be one half of the entire defence system. defence level, insted of makeing you dodge more attack, should do that AND soak all damage (although only 30% of soaking for mage, other 70% goes to mage levels) something like your armour soaks spesific %'s in spesific class's and the chance of this efect coimeing in to play is baased of your defence level. no mater how it turns out, less KOing power for melee is a good thing. - 14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
