I would say there are possible thermal issues but just run ooct and see if it is running alright. Keep in mind you might need a custom bios or a 3rd party application which is some what risky. Your getting 30fps due to your graphics.

Set the directory to your desktop. You won't be able to rename it with just a file extension though. I think the trick is to though some odd character in there. I think the most logical way to do this is to jsut change them in registry. cd desktop

It sounds like you downloaded something that the person you got it from wants you to use there program to get the password intern implanting something on your computer. I would say this is a bad download.

How long have you let it stay in standby? Let it co for like 20-30 minutes and see if the fans turn off? It could be something thermal related.

What OS? Also have you tried putting the computer to sleep via the OS? Does it boot up fine?

GTA IV being that it's pretty damn poorly optimized on a lot of rigs. I'd be interested to know though what your CPU is if you can't max out Crysis (I can max it out on a 9600GT and get 30FPS. Crysis wars can get 45FPS). I was going to buy that game till i found out it was suppose to be intense. People were saying with the max settings it was giving a 260 a run.

If you have a a recovery cd and can't get into windows it isa good bet you will be reinstalling the operating system. IF you had important files you could get a live cd of a linux distro and copy them over from the hard drive to a usb driver or an external hard driver or a cd or what ever.
