  1. What is it going to refresh? You will need to use ajax to sent an http request to a server side language. JS is a client side browser scripting language it does not have to power to do that. You would use js to refresh what ajax returns.
  2. JS wouldn't do that. AJAX could but not JS as JS is all client side not server.
  3. Prebuilt or homemade?
  4. I see where your coming from but keep in mind he will have to run it in window mode to do stuff on the other monitor.
  5. You could get a card with dvi ports and just buy the adapter which are fairly cheap. Also i would try to get the same monitor. It always looks better.
  6. Is that the only port you have?
  7. You are completely confusing, i am not understanding, or you can't make your mind up. You stated you wanted something that listed the contents of a directory above now you sound like you want a shoutcast.
  8. So i take you just want to run like ASP the windows default server side language which i don't know and NEVER want to learn a microsoft language. Doesn't that have a default directory listing?
  9. YOU NEED A SERVER SETUP TO SHOW THAT! How to you expect to show the directory dynamically without a server side language. Personally i would run apache then install php with that is a very common setup. Better yet you can sue like WAMP which will install all of the services for you.
  10. There you go you finally said it. Yes i see what your saying. Do you have a server setup?
  11. Nvidia is a GPU maker not a monitor maker.
  12. Just look on the back of your monitor for the ports it should name them fore you. With DVI you can also use HDML with a converter.
  13. Exactly. I am jsut confused on what he wants though.
  14. If i take this right you are just trying to list the items in a directory on the server? You are not trying to play play the song directly from the media player?
  15. So like apaches default directory menu?
  16. No, the monitor stays completely blank. I believe it was bought in 2006 (I rummaged through some Warranty booklets and they said it was printed in 2006) Thanks for all the advice about the graphics card possibly having a problem. We're getting a family friend over this afternoon to see if he can do anything about it and I'll show him this forum topic. ^_^ Thanks. If nothing is show i doubt it is your hard drive that is causing it though i could be wrong. I didn't say your hard drive wasn't bad but it should at least be outputting the POST screen. Check make sure are hard ware is connected and connected tight?
  17. You mean like an online radio?
  18. To who ever said to install Firefox or another browser what does that solve. Possibly he/she can't? Maybe he/she doesn't want to. I would personally try reinstall java and you might as well install flash while your at it.
  19. Personally just try getting a new hard drive. The computer should still be showing the BIOS screen though when it first boots is it doing that?
  20. That looks like an email application trying sending an pregenerated email. Contact Jagex agout this?
  21. Netowrking in windows is actually pretty simple. If you have a printer attached to one of the computers this will be simple which i take it you don't havea network printer or a stand alone. Go to Printer and Faxes under control panel and click Sharing... Click The share this printer radio button. Create a name for it then you should be good. Now i don't know what your computer name is but you could go into My Network Places to access it or you could run the computer network path like \\COMPUTER_NAME. It should prompt asking you if you want to install the driver for the printer or even install it automatically. It should be added as a printer on the other computer now. If it isn't you oviously didn't do it right. Also i would go with a linksys router or switch. Cisco for the win!
  22. Maybe he doesn't know how to build a computer. Personally I'd go with HP, very reliable. HP just tried to hard to turn computers into eye candy, which is swell if you want something in say, your living room. But you could easily get the same specs from Dell much cheaper, without the glossy case. Acer has cheap computers, and a lowsy custom support, as well as using cheap parts. All in my experience at least. I'm still leaning towards Dell, since the government/U.S Military largely uses them, surely there's a reason behind that. Any of those brands are reliable though, it all comes down to preference and cost. If your looking for award winning customer support however, Apple is surely the winner. I hate the shiny/glossy mini HP computers with a passion. Meh, go with a Toshiba, i still have my dad's first Toshiba laptop (came with Win 95) but it's under Kubuntu now. But if it's possible see if you can find someone to build it for you. It's just cheaper :) Toshiba's are shiny?
  23. Thats what she said to the title.
