With those times you would be the best distance runner in my school  well, a 10:30 2 mile is a far cry from the 9:36 PR that our best two miler ran last year to win the league championship (i've been training with him all winter) 4:48 was only QUALIFYING time for the mile at districts last year (champion went 4:15, graduated) 2:03 is probably the most ambitious time, and the 800 will be my main event so thats what im shooting for. a :53 400 wouldn't have even won me the freshman district title last year, but i doubt i'll be running the distance unless i get put in the 4x4 Our best 2-mile runner runs a 10:35 Our best mile runner runs a 4:55 Our best 800 runner runs a 2:05 Our best 400m runner runs a 55 still respectable times. i just got word that the 800m district champ already ran a 50 flat 400. i have maybe a 5% chance at beating him in the 800. 10% chance if he runs the 4x8, 400, and mile before the 800, and since he's their leader scorer there is a decent chance of that.

Training Magic through combat.
well if you are training slayer and you have the complete helmet with good stat enhancing stuff you could try and cast a spell to start off each kill. or if your killing dragons you could just cast a mind spell to get the dragons attention, i'm sure it adds up (at least in the former example). edit: oops i misread, i thought you said magic with melee. if your looking to do magic with combat using the complete slayer helmet is almost your only good chance. however casting death rune spells on aviansies usually is -200k/+200k per hour, however you'll need 1337 gear

I know exactly what you're talking about! I find that my attitude, and energy in a warm-up is almost always a perfect indicator for how the run itself will go: take your time, be relaxed but focused, and really think about what you're going to do in warm up. Play around, and jog around in your warm-up and loosen up. obviously, the technique of the running itself has to be unrestrained and smooth in the same way your warm-up has progressed. A changed warm-up routine cut 15 seconds off my mile-time in the course of a weekend. Again, for the sprinting: remember to warm up your whole body before start: free-style swimming in the air with your arms, loosening up, twisting your torso etc. should take care of minor issues like that. if it does not, some core excercise might be the next step to go. the 800 is one of the most versatile events and there are different ways to train for it. you can either go for a sprinting base or an endurance base. if your going for a sprinting base (where the 800 is almost always your highest event) you'll be looking at running the 800 and 400 regularly with an occasional mile or 200. your longest run will never exceed 5 miles and the majority of your training will be done in the weight room or on the track. with a sprinting base, your form and muscle (NOT cardio health) is your ticket to success. this goes without saying that cardio health is still important to an extent. with a sprinting base during the 800 its all about getting out fast and trying to hold on. a distance base is quite different. you'll be looking at running the 5k, 3200, 1600, and 800. the 800 and mile are your main events. of course you will do the majority of your training with distance athletes but you will probably do workouts with the mid-distance sprinters. at peak( depending on your potential) your mileage usually won't exceed 65 per week and your long run won't go far over 14. for workouts (as already stated) 200m and 400m will be your key workout distance. its all about building up a ridiculous cardio base and developing and end-all kick at the end of the race. during the race its about going out, getting where you want, and unleashing a monster kick at the end (if your not kicking at the end, your probably following more of a sprinter based training regime). you still have to keep a steady pace but its important to remain smart and alert and taking opportunities as they come. since you haven't mentioned which base you are following (and im not saying i know everything, these are just basically the two different ways to do it) try and keep a steady but not ridiculous pace. if you want to hang with the leaders you have to be prepared for the possibility of burning out, it happens to the best of us. say you want to run a 2:10. try running a 68 first lap then taking it down to a 62 second lap. you'll see better results both physically and mentally if you do it this way as apposed to going out at 60 and then running your second lap at 70. the usual rule is that a pair of shoes is good for 300-400 miles, depending on your weight. no matter what, after 400 miles , i'm not saying they would be unusable, but its time to start using them as just casual shoes. Personally, i used an expensive cushioning shoe from the end of last august until the end of february when i starting getting pains everywhere (probably had at least 700+ on them, just didnt have the money for another pair). then i bought a pair with less cushioning and all the pain went away. since my new shoes have less cushioning i'll be replacing them at the end of track season with somewhere around 400-500 miles on them. of course, if you are using a minimalist shoe, i believe that the durability is very different from cushioning shoes and that you should replace them when you "feel" it.

The Running Thread
hi guys! spring is here and its good to see everyone is posting. i had my first exhibition meet last friday. i ran a 1600 in 5:13 and 800 at 2:18. our team went 1-2-3-4 in each of those (and 1-2-3 in the 2 mile) myself being 4th in each. i'm 15 and i only got beat by kids 17+ (by a small margin, at that), so i guess my winter training paid off. next friday is our first official meet and i'll be running the 800 against the reigning district champion who went about 1:57 last year 0.0 right now i'll set my goals ( i might not run some of these events, but just incase i do): 10:30 3200 4:48 1600 2:03 800 53 400 i really wasn't on here much during the winter, but a few guys and i ran regularly. we did several 55 mile weeks and we're now at an 11 mile long run. someone on the team also has a garmin so we have very accurate measurements on our runs. i'm seriously thinking of buying a pair of nike frees for over easter break aswell. well guys, its nice to be back in season. feel free to post your times and such

Wayne's gone, who will take over mainstream rap?
wasn't expecting so many replies! and i know guru is a long shot.. obviously i'll be putting eminem, cudi, jay-z, maybe others such as common even though they have no chance in hell of "taking over". i eventually want to form a relevant list of about 20+ rappers so we can take a look at them and see what happens in the next few months. btw- solja boy was a joke i just find his vlogs on youtube hilarious.

Wayne's gone, who will take over mainstream rap?
hey. i know a lot of people on tip.it don't listen to rap or hip hop. i myself listen to quite a bit of it. i'd first like to state that i think lil wayne was "okay" and had a few decent lyrics but he was far from my favorite rapper. the only song of his i really liked was the sky is the limit freestyle and his verse in "forever". that out of the way, i thought i'd post some obvious and some minor rappers who could make a comeback or a ridiculous debut and take the game by the horns. all following information is a mix of fact and opinion. [hide=Drake] Canadian, was on degrassi. never talks about gangs, guns, or violence for that matter. taking rap in the right direction and providing us with decent choruses and verses along the way chance of taking over the game: Very likely [/hide] [hide=Kanye West] Had some great tracks and is a great producer, still hasn't recovered from the taylor swift fiasco chance of taking over the game: moderate [/hide] [hide=Lupe Fiasco] Makes great music, great flow, deep lyrics, and has had a few huge hits. somehow can't attain mainstream popularity. maybe his next album will be his ticket to the top chance of taking over the game: moderate [/hide] [hide=Guru] the MC of gangstarr. top notch lyrics and he never gets old. recently suffered a heart attack. is recovering. although he is over 40 years old, with his new mixtape (dropping this summer) he could blow up. you never know chance of taking over the game: low [/hide] [hide=nas] Hasn't had a good song since hero. for some reason isn't collaborating with the new kids in the game. under the radar of most critics and fans chance of taking over the game: low [/hide] [hide=ludacris] Yes, ludacris. rapper from the dirty south making quite a dirty comeback. first he does a song with justin beiber and now he's dissing tiger woods? he's got a ridiculous flow and he's back, thats for sure chance of taking over the game: moderate [/hide] [hide=souljah boiii] he's playing xbox right now ill get back to you on that [/hide] just a short list. feel free to rate/discuss. ill be adding to the list tomorrow.

Blogging- Why should people care?
Runescape blogging is, and has always been extremely stupid. the only interesting blogs are probably the top 5% of those who ARE achieving amazing things. not those who WANT to achieve amazing things or who blog about getting 99 cooking and playing castle wars.

my coach has actually suggested that everyone on the team picks up a pair of nike frees. my understanding is that they have limited cushioning and will basically force you to change form if you are not running properly. much like the vibram five fingers? there was a post about those shoes probably about 10 pages back. for this summer i'm seriously considering getting a pair of nike frees though, they seem like they could really help.

Pokemon Thread
hi guys. i really enjoyed playing pokemon as a kid (logged 1000+ hours from yellow, crystal, colloseum(maxed time), ruby, emerald, leaf green, XD, and one of the mystery dungeons). i stopped playing completely about 1 month after the mystery dungeon games were released, mainly because i started playing runescape around then and i didn't want to buy a ds to play diamond/pearl(gameboy advance ftw). also, imo: blue mystery dungeon or whatever its called kind of made me feel like i was too old for pokemon. lately though, for some reason i feel like i want to start playing pokemon again. however, i wouldn't start until may-ish due to school and other comitments. a friend has offered to sell a dsi for cheap and i'd probably get pearl/ss. since i really have nothing to add, nor do i know a single 4th generation pokemon (besides a few from ssbb) i'd just like to know what you guys think of my old lineup, and if these pokemon would be effective in the new games: (all of these were collected through numerous games and i now have them in colloseum along with my other level 100's) dragonite: level 94 -double team -thunder -outrage -fly snorlax: level 99 -rest -attract -snore -water pulse (or surf) tyranitar: level 100 -crunch -earthquake -dragon claw -brick break (or strengh.. again can't remember) (often swapped with my level 100 armaldo- aerial ace, ancient power, water pulse, earthquake?) metagross: level 100 -pyschic ? -earthquake -sludge bomb -meteor mash (or double team) Ludicolo: level 83 -rain dance -giga drain -ice beam -hydro pump (ludicolo was a replacement for a milotic which was my prized pokemon.. level 100 with rain dance and other moves. salamence: level 89 -double edge -??? -shadow ball?? -rock tomb (salamence was the replacement for a level 100 blaziken since i tried to build my stratogy) I'd always start with ludicolo and dragonite.. ludicolo would use rain dance and dragonite would usually use double team and then i forget.. something about thunder and rain dance? what do you guys think?

Scared for my friend.. i need some help.
thats what i thought but i wasn't sure. cause i know stuff like vodka sauce just evaporates and leaves flavor .. but from what i read it seems that over a certain content it would just blow up. but anyway, i just called him and his mom picked up so i guess problem solved

Scared for my friend.. i need some help.
Now, i'm going to be completely honest with you guys. my friends do really random and stupid [cabbage]. about 2 hours ago one of my friends texted me and told me that his parents weren't home and that there was a bottle of bacardi puerto rican rum sitting on his counter. heres where he threw me for a loop. HE WANTS TO MAKE A CAKE USING THE BACARDI INSTEAD OF WATER/MILK IN THE CAKEMIX ... i was stunned for a few seconds. i can't imagine why anybody would do this. he lives right up the street so he invited me up (i told him i had homework). to my knowledge he is going to make one of those bettycrocker one minute lava cakes using the rum (it cooks in the microwave in 1 minute 15 seconds). this is just kind of wacky. does anybody have any information about microwaving alcohol? the bacardi is 72.5% alcohol i think and i'm scared that he'll blow up his house. im going down in about 15 minutes and i need to present FACTS to him of why his safety is in danger. THIS IS NOT A JOKE TOPIC.

For all of you looking to train and make money
plenty of safespots. I know that their defense is low to magic because from time to time i've seen people ice bursting them. people are fast to steal mage's kills though.

For all of you looking to train and make money
Hi, I've never made a help thread before but i just thought i would post this suggestion to let you all know how greatly thzaar has been rejuvinated. As some of you know, The monsters now drop much more tokkul. around 1k per kill. also 2 obby charms are a common drop. onyx bolt tips (12k each) are dropped about 1/20 times, and gems are dropped roughly 1/10 times. the reason that these are so great to train on is because of the recent spike in the obby cape, meaning for (roughly) every 90 kills you can trade in 90k tokkul and get one of the most heavily demanded items in the current day. you can also easily heal by going into the fight caves and dieing. in the past three days i have gotten: 300k+ tokkul, a back-to-back cape drop, over 600 obby charms, obby maul, and obby shield. along with over 250k range exp. i hope i helped

As soon as i saw who the creater of the thread was, i almost predicted your post line for line. but get real here.. if you desperately needed the examine, i'm sure people would gladly send it to you. and if you REALLY want to find one, i'm sure world hopping or a patriarch clan would help.

No RuneScape utilities iPhone/iPod touch app?
i was wondering the same thing.. as we've seen, jagex realizes the market in the app store (bouncedown). Maybe jagex won't allow these types of apps? legal issues.

Fletching
Still good exp? Fletching broad bolts gets you 3 exp per bolt... well, you fletch 10 bolts at a time so thats still pretty good exp. time-wise it may be the same exp per hour as fletching yew longs, the max per hour has been said to be 68k
