  1. if your a slayer buff, learn to make broad bolts.. I'd advise buying 50k supplies, doing them, then fletching 3-5k mage longs.. you will probably break even depending on what you do with mage longs. since i got 99 fletch i just make broad bolts all the time.. tons of profit and still good exp
  2. i actually thought this was going to be a joke topic bashing the introduction of ivy
  3. I'm willing to wait until june for a new skill. i'm not sure why people still mention sailing.. its really not funny, infact those posts should be marked as spam. as most highschool-aged runescape players, i don't care how 'bugged' the skill will be as long as i can sink my teeth into it for the summer (please dont release it for finals week, though)
  4. I'm surprised that there is still so much speculation about the ring of wealth. my understanding is, when the ring was first implemented into the game it was meant to increase your chances of getting an extremely rare item (eg- shield halves) from once in your lifetime, to TWICE in your lifetime. I'll reiterate the point already made that it increases rare drops by such a small margin. this margin can be explained as anywhere from 1-3% depending on what "drop roulette" your item is on. if it is an item on the first roulette, it is almost always 1% for rare items. items marked as extremely/very rare are usually on the second roulette which would be a 3% or 2% bonus respectively. that's why i rarely take one with me.. i'll usually use an archer ring or another fremmy ring. i think the declined usage of rings of wealth came when people realized it murdered the profits from avians. just my two cents.
  5. edit: in all seriousness, if jagex did do something with the island, it would have to be something epic.. let's be honest though, the only chance of the island coming back for ANY reason (in the next year) is if it'll be integrated with the new skill, which quite frankly wouldnt surprise me.
  6. I've noticed this. and while i've always beleived that high levels have the right to put lower levels in their place, there are so many lower levels who think they can speak down to higher levels. i'll admit it though, i call people noobs when: they come (after me) to a secluded or individual training spot and they dont leave. this especially annoys me when they have lower levels/ worse gear they said ridiculous things in pvp. in pvp i never tend to call people noobs.. only when they say "dm" and then run or they pj me and dont expect me to use my anti pj mechanism (broad bolts ftw)
  7. They are pretty high atm :ugeek: the only good drug joke. everyone else please stop trying
  8. I dont understand why there are so many topics like this. just do a skill that you want to do. for me my 99 of choice was fletching because i make money and i like multi-tasking (making bolts). my next 99 will probably be range because i've put a lot of hard work in and want to reap the rewards of owning. its up to you.
  9. if your that concerned about it, i'd reccomend a leaf bladed sword and rune defender..
  10. Your point is right to some extent. an example is i remember not long ago i made a post in a thread about slayer, saying that slayer favored melee based characters. some people trashed me, saying "if u choose not to train some skills you wont have access to some content" which made absolutely no sense, considering i do train melee from time to time. after i wrote my agitated response to some of these people, i noticed that my 74 slayer far surpassed 3/4 people's slayer levels (and my combat was below all 4 of them). that just goes to show you how people are ready to jump on you when you make a post against the EASY/FAVORED way of training a skill. my slayer experience (especially at a low cb level) means that my opinion holds more weight. period.
  11. thanks everyone for the advice so far, i was wondering if someone could please verify the compatability with all these different components.
  12. Well, i would say its a positive discipline. it really helps manage time (for me, at least) . i find that i'm idling a lot less and much more productive when i center an evening around schoolwork AND runescape. Of course, i made a lot of friends in middle school through runescape and in highschool it actually helped me get "in" with some of the "popular" kids who also play runescape. Once they release runescape in spanish i'll gladly play it since i am taking both spanish and latin at school. Also, runescape has enhanced my vocabulary, and all the posting i've done on forums and such have greatly improved my mastery of the english language. i can tell you, that if i did not play runescape, i wouldn't have already been suggested for english honors/AP next year. I'm also considering a career in computer science. I've made several (although nooby) runescape videos and i've gotten plenty of experience with the adobe suite and wmm. I've also practiced HTML coding while making runescape sites (for my eyes only). In addition, i reluctantly admit it, but over a year ago i also gained tons of computer knowledge from helping my friend code a private server and helping him code/debug a macro script he made. i never used the macroscript but he did.. got 99 str without getting blackmarks. To the contrary, on a less personal note; if you play runescape to just kill time, then maybe it isnt worth your time. but if you have played it for a number of years and have actually thought to yourself "if it wasnt for runescape i wouldn't know this". then it is in no way a waste of your time.
  13. Haven't followed this topic, fans for the case? There should have come some normal screws or plastics with the package. i should have been more clear.. Panaflo fans were suggested by foooman but in the reviews people said that they didn't come with any type of mounting system. as already stated, i have never built a computer before and i'm just wondering how all these fans would work (because i thought the case fans would suffice for overclocking)
  14. And, as far as the fans go. i'm quite clueless. the panaflo's dont come with any type of mounting system.. how would i set them up and where would i put them?
  15. thank you. first of all i realized that dell was charging an extra $200 for my processor to be overclocked? LOL i did look at those samsung drives and i saw (as you said) that they seemed to be a very popular item. i will upgrade to the suggested one if i can find it in stock i removed soundcard from build (as i wasn't too sure either) but i will be using my old speaker setup. (sorry, should have mentioned that) i choose another motherboard but forgot to update the post. i'll update right now i removed screen from build as my current one is still in perfect shape. now have about $350 to work with.
  16. I have heard some bad things about dell, thanks for clearing that up. i will look into Asus
  17. no, there isn't and shouldn't be a demand for MORE 1000+ worlds. if you ask me, there should be ONE 1000+, two 1500+, and two 2000+. but that will never happen. so i'll just keep dreaming
  18. not worth the hassle after the first five. just use your best master.
  19. i was autologged once in all my time playing runescape.. i'm glad to say i'm past that point in my life
  20. unless your attack is in the 90's, its not worth spending 35mil just to use a special attack.
  21. if your fighting a mage, obviously flames. if your fighting a pure, obviously flames. if your fighting people with high defense, claws. for pvm guthix takes the cake in all cases
  22. Hey everyone. heres a little background. I do a lot of gaming and video editing on my computer (or, used to, thus my problem) and am considering a career in computer science. my current computer is 3 years old (got it for x-mas) and it cost about $1050 with everything included. When my mother ordered my computer from dell, she expressed that she wanted a GAMING computer with a large display and good printer. For the first year i just played runescape, diablo 2, c&c, and other games that didn't require a good computer, then i started getting into oblivion, bf 2142, and other graphically intense games (along with video editing), i could play them in pretty good detail. As time went on, however, i realized my experience was dwindling. My 100gb harddrive was filling up, my speakers broke off their mounts, my printer broke, and my computer has been sent to the local computer specialist 2 times for horrible viruses. about a year ago when i started exploring the many workings of a computer, i finally checked in detail what my PC was running on.. i'll save myself some embaressment but i will mention my 1gb of ram (512 x 2). the best thing about this computer (by far) has been the video card (a 512mb radeon) and my 21'' lcd display. i kept everything at factory defaults but i still sometimes get messages about possible overheated hardware. this computer has served me well but is now plagued again with many problems and i have to restart it about once every hour otherwise all text (yes, all text on the screen, alonf with my pointer) becomes invisible. Instead of taking it to the shop again my mom suggested that maybe it was time to upgrade. that brings me to the past two weeks. I've been looking at dells online store and also extensively on Newegg.com. Dell has some amazing holiday deals and newegg offers unmatched customization and prices. my mom (since she owns a small business and will use the computer for a few hours a week) has given me quite an extensive budget of $1700. Combined with $300-400 of my own money i am looking at an absolute price cap of $2100.. thats where you guys come in. as far as building my own computer goes, i would just like to be sure that the parts are compatible, if worst comes to worst i will be able to get it assembled at the local shop please take note: I am asking for any suggestions or information you can give me. anything is appreciated  bottom line: this is what i'm looking for in a computer (rough specs) 23'' lcd screen w/o built in speakers quad core processor 750gb harddrive 7200 rpm cd/dvd drive EXPANDABILITY 6gb ram sound card good graphics card for gaming windows 7 (nothing else too specific) now, i'm not going to act clueless here and say "BUILD ME A PC" i already have two builds (one from newegg, one from dell) which i would like input on. first, newegg: (please offer any insight as to how this can be improved, cheaper, or be more COMPATIBLE) case: AZZA Helios 910 Black Japanese SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail -79.99 - good case good cooling good price and expandable harddrive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives -Bare Drive -99.00 good rpm, sata, great reviews/price monitor: removed monitor from this build since my current one is completely fine. graphics card (updated): XFX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB Black Edition 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported ... - Retail -359.99 Sound card (could use your help): removed sound card from build PSU: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro 700 RS-700-AMBA-D3 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active ... - Retail -119.99 top of the line, great price keyboard: logitech g15- $70.. can't go wrong mouse: razor deathadder $50 RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D - Retail - 253.99 great reviews Mobo (updated): EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail -289.99 CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail - $288 great reviews, solid, quad core. operating system: windows 7 64bit home premium- $105 Disc drive: LG Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 40X CD-ROM SATA Internal Combo LG Blu-ray Reader & 16X LightScribe DVD±R DVD Burner - Retail -120 extra cooling: (total: $$1,837.85) comments: seems to be a very good build. , A TON of expandability and cooling (overclock possible?) like i said before though, i am no pro, i would like someone to verify that all this would work together. please make suggestions and give me information, especially on the motherboard and graphics cards, as there are so many to choose from. Dell: well, you can't go wrong with dell. amazing holiday deals, good systems, and good customer support. heres what i've choosen: -.- for some reason dell has removed the studio 9000 from their online lineup, so i just decided to build an alienware aurora: (obviously i'll go into less detail here since everything will work together) 875w power supply intel i7 920 (same as newegg) Dual 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 240 - SLI® Enabled 12gb ran at 1067 .... 640gb harddrive single blue ray drive sound blaster titanium x-fi killer xeno pro network card NO MONITOR alienware tactx keyboard price: $1952 thank you all and i appreciate any advice. As you can see from the alienware build i did not buy a screen, i am thinking for my newegg build that i won't buy a screen either and that will enable me to have the same RAM (except at 1600) as the alienware AND afford good speakers. your thoughts are welcome
  23. Let me simplify things: Pure exp/break even: yaks, rock crabs, experiments Money orientated methods:Slayer, avians, snakes, blue dragons, armadyl solo/duo Large exp at high cost methods: chinning at ape atoll, chinning mummies, using a cannon at _____
  24. For awhile rangers such as myself were mainly content with the black mask/slayer helm since we could utilize safespots which made up for the lost damage. Since that diagonal monster movement update (that was actually awhile ago, wasn't it? -.-) i think that rangers/mages should get something, however i'm not really complaining since i still range all my tasks unless i feel like training defense.. the rangers amulet was nice, but rangers need a little bit more (i'm not pushing it though, by the end of 2010 would be nice). To the contrary, for those who have high combat/slayer I've heard that the new ferocious ring is pretty crazy for those who use range with the new tasks.
