Something to Think About
You forget, Jagex isn't trying to be fair. They're trying to generate revenue. Since few people will quit over the reintroduction of the old wilderness, Jagex will do whatever tickles their fancy.

I do see your point, which makes sense, but if I may ask, why would it be guaranteed loss at all? Anyone fighting with a 0% chance of winning would be incompetent. In the case of 60%, you would still make money... Hopefullly. Very few non-pkers would be on PvP worlds. So Pkers would play an essentially zero-sum game. The losers would stop Pking and move out. With the losers gone, some of the former winners must become losers. They in turn move out. Rinse and repeat. Voila! Abandoned worlds. Fact is, pkers need vulnerable skillers to exist. Every food chain needs a producer class.

200M in all Skills
Considering that more skills will be added, methods will constantly get better, and some of the current top players will no doubt quit, anyone and especially Zezima could be a serious contender if he really wanted to. There's even a possibility that the one to finally max everything out hasn't started playing yet. However, I doubt that he'd try. For one thing, it only takes away from his reputation. He's currently THE greatest player of all time, the #1 player for years until moving on. Why turn into that guy that might've been #1?

The two reasons for not allowing overloads/extremes (not reflected in cb / 1-hitting a lvl 138) both reflect broken aspects of the game. Combat level is now useless for judging a player's PvM ability at 80+ and PvP ability at all levels. This was broken WAY before overloads/extremes (Pures were rampant in RS Classic too I believe?). Jagex needs to come up with a better way of calculating a player's combat level. Give more weight to Max hit, and make prayer increase cb at discrete intervals (41->42 and 42->43 increase a player's cb as if it reflected a continuous increase in combat ability. This isn't right.). 1-hitting is a much bigger problem. BUT the real problem isn't 1-hitting per se, it's the fact that our hitpoints are ridiculously easy to rip through. Even though 1-hitting is infeasible right now, a lot of PKing has degraded into clawspec + veng. As many people have said before, defense needs to be completely reworked. Damage soaking armour isn't a real solution since it doesn't help much against claws. And although nobody can be sure before actually trying it, I doubt torva armour will fix PvP either. It will spend months being too expensive for the average player and when its price falls enough for the general population to use, it will completely homogenize PvP (Yeah, variety's supposed to be a good thing. I'd nearly forgotten since the fall of the triangle). How defense should be reworked without ruining PvM is a complex problem, and merits its own thread. Banning overloads/extremes was a way to keep a decaying system from completely breaking down. Chaotics, korasi's, void etc isn't banned because it doesn't immediately break everything. Overloads/extremes would have turned PvP into a hit-and-run bloodbath. Jagex needs to stop putting band-aids on bullet wounds.

Recycled Pictures =o
The odd misspelling or common grammar mistake is okay, but there's a line to be drawn when it becomes illegible. I think pictures are some of the most obviously recycled things, I've seen that generic king picture in loads of places, I think there's at least two in the Seers' Village. This smells of the dealings of a certain Ali Morrisane, no? My spelling and grammar is fine, of course, but I could still read his post, so I don't see where the problem is. He wrote 'thig' and meant 'thing', with common sense, you can assume he meant 'thing'. As for his grammar, come on. You play RuneScape. You can read that. Actually, I think he meant "think". So, no it wasn't very legible. Where else would it go? RSOF Win

That would still be extremely useful. Once revs disappear, nothing would be a threat if you just had that amulet. Skilling in the wilderness would be easy (brawling gloves, anyone?). Even in PvP situations, you could never be ambushed and you'd be guaranteed first strike. So we'd have lots of PKers running around with that amulet on. As a result, nobody would be able to attack anybody. Which kind of defeats the purpose of the wilderness...

If every skill gave hidden combat bonuses that would be true. Such as firemaking giving you the ability to light weapons on fire for added damage - would be a combat bonus. Smithing making your armor - isnt. However smithing adding armor plating or spikes to your armor (for added defense or offense, respectively is) Also, another reason herblore shouldn't add to your combat is because it would give people combat levels they may not have wanted. It's not fair to suddenly increase people's combat after the fact; dungeoneering and summoning were both released with the knowledge that it would add to your combat. Dungeoneering does not add combat levels, technically. Which is my beef with the fact that Chaotics are allowed, yet Extremes are not. I think at least SOME of the new pots should be allowed, others not (IE Spec restores) Neither do quests, or achievement diaries, or D&Ds... Come to think of it, the combat level explanation for banning extremes doesn't make much sense at all. Just allowing everything would be the way to go if Jagex cared about consistency and fairness (Which they don't, of course. Allowing everything would also require a Constitution update to stop higher-level pvp from turning into a one-hit bloodbath.).

So people won't be able to look for penguins in the wildy en masse. You know, the way it would have been had revs been as dangerous as PKers. I don't think it'll be much of a problem. If you look at it from a PKer's point of view, World60Pengs is a small group of armed opponents (I expect some of them would bring equipment. Consider also the possible rise of an anti-pker group) with a lot of human shields. If "The armed" have the sense to keep their equipment in their inventory, they and the shields are indistinguishable until you attack them. If you attack a shield (as is likely), you'd be attacked by a player (Or group of players) who would have ample time to pot up AND get first strike. Point being that there would be a serious risk of death for little profit (Remember, even 1-itemers have a chance of losing their items). The only scenario that might be a problem is a 100cb player kicking a 20cb to death for the lulz and a free trip to their spawn.

I expect many players would give up completing the quest just to keep the amulet. (I assume that the amulet would be taken away after completion)

Anybody Else Give Up on Combat?
Do you mean to imply that you cannot have an opinion on football? You hardly need to be pro at something to like/dislike it. Similarly, do you have no opinion on science, mathematics, literature, politics and the like? Your knowledge of such subjects barely scratches the surface (I assume you're not a genius polymath) .

The Wilderness
The crux of the matter is that the wildy isn't dangerous any more. (At least in P2P, F2Pers have a slightly harder time with revs) Seriously, what medium+ level player goes into the wilderness worrying if they'll be in Lumbridge 10 mins later? Revenants have to be made much more dangerous and intelligent, the wildy has to be larger with more Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V dirt, we should get lost if we're not careful. There must be a non-negligible possibility of death. Either that or allow players to kill each other again, I'm sure it could be implemented. When you're killed your items disappear and your killer only sees bones and gets no rewards. No potential for RWT, but I'm sure there will be people hunting others just for the heck of it. If that's not enough, a ranking system via the highscores perhaps? Shows the number of people killed? Weighted for your opponents prowess of course. Either way, landmarks and safe zones should be reduced and the wildy should get larger.

Dragon KiteShield vs DFS - Do we need it at all?
Making it cheap is the obvious solution. Price it 150~200k above the Dragon Square and offer defence bonuses between the square and the DFS. Logical, considering that the def req is only 60. The D Kite could even act as a money sink if implemented properly. For instance, requiring the player to smith a d square with some kind of special item only buyable for 300k from stores. Add a quest requirement and a smithing requirement of perhaps 75, we might get a piece of dragon armour which is actually used! Or of course Jagex could take the traditional path and make it worth 10mil with lousy stats. In that case, nothing short of a set effect of a massive prayer bonus will save the kite from total neglect.

Limpwurt roots rising enormously in price, good time to buy?
That is a really good point. The GE updates are too slow. By the time the crashes are seen through the DB, it could've been underway for hours. But even with the slow warning, there should be enough time to sell before losing more than a small portion of your money if you check every day. But then the RS economy can be easily manipulated... If the crash was really bad, as you would expect if the prices were being manipulated, you might be able lose a hefty portion of your money in a few hours but I'm not sure on this. Anyhow, although the GE does update too slow, as long as the prices aren't being manipulated you can always get a good idea of the next days prices by selling at max/min on GE.

Limpwurt roots rising enormously in price, good time to buy?
Oropher, things just don't crash with absolutely no warning. There should be a slight decline in the slope before it crashes. Even in your graph there is a slight fall of around 400~500k the day before the crash. Thats equivalent to about 5gp in limps. Oh and by the way, it dropped 7 gp today. This could be an indication of a steep drop to come, or it could recover as it has done the last two times in 30 days.

Limpwurt roots rising enormously in price, good time to buy?
Limps are rising quite quickly right now. Yes, they might crash but before they do they WILL show a decrease in the steepness of the price slope. When it does, that's the time to sell.

Limpwurt roots rising enormously in price, good time to buy?
Limpwurt roots have risen by over 16% in the last thirty days (as of August 8th 2:15pm) What was 678gp on the 18th of June has now reached a price of 844gp. I think this might be a good time to buy limps in bulk to resell later for a profit.
