  1. How many skills does he have over 50m? Did langer possibly miss him? I'd check myself but I can't access the site right now. Only 7 and 2 in the high 40s Thanks, guess he won't be a contender for some time.

  3. Thanks for all the support. It meant alot to us in those dire times and i'm not sure if we could have done it without the communities heartwarming response. Good to see you're back. Edit: And Naraku is worse than Golv these days.
  4. I agree. It would have been better for the community if they left it there. However, I can understand the motivations behind the action. Since they're moving to a new site, having sole rights to the guide would seem very appealing. And the admins did well to comply with his request. Even disregarding the ethical arguments, I don't think this separation will be permanent unless he who must not be named quits playing RS. It seems bans are rarely literally permanent. A long time later, he'll come back to post guides again. That probably wouldn't happen if the admins refused to remove his guide.
  5. I'm a teen too. What I meant by the teenager part is that teens usually have more time on their hands than adults. They can be more serious about the game. Also, as much as it pains me to say this, teens in general seem to be less able to control their impulses than adults (statistically speaking of course, this in no way implies anything about any specific teenager.) About your rhetorical question, it seems to happen once in a while. But I'm sure we'll be seeing less of that for some time. On the other hand, I'm not sure if that'll be an improvement.
  6. I understand every paragraph fully yet the whole thing only vaguely. I agree with your point about efficient people trolling more. The causes of this could be worth looking into. Is it because most people in the efficient camp are teens? Is it because blatant stupidity looks different depending on your POV? Someone from the fun camp might think "Hmm... I'm pretty sure that's not right but I'm not certain. Oh well, each to his own" while an efficiency-oriented person could think "That is most definitely wrong and I've done 20 hours of rigorous testing to back that up. Also, that is the umpteenth time I've heard that crap in H&A." Or is it that efficiency and trollophilia (yes I made that word up) go together somehow? Maybe people that have an efficiency-oriented mindset are inherently more likely to troll because the two are different manifestations of a single trait. Unwillingness to put up with stupidity in both themselves and others maybe?
  7. What Sonikku said. Also, If you read some of the thread you posted in, you would have found more information than you could imagine.
  8. It could work but why do you think this system is superior to clan chats? Grinding isn't fun, but watching someone else grind isn't going to help.
  9. Speaking only for myself, I'm not sure I agree with this reasoning. If someone cannot update something, then someone else makes a derivative of it - someone that is active and can actually keep it up-to-date - and that essentially becomes the new guide. It happens all the time (surprisingly enough) with guides on other forums, more so with programs and programming projects. Just because someone can't update it doesn't mean it should be removed. I just don't agree with that notion. *slinks back to corner* Except he didn't approve of his guide staying and didn't give permission for someone to make a copy of his work. As the tip.it guidelines explicitelly say, you DO give tip.it ownership to copy. I think it's time you do a little research in the matter and then come back. There are so many statements here which disgust me because they show an utter lack of knowlenge about how IP works. Also not giving permession to make copies, or increase the knowlenge of the guide is morally wrong. As it prefents innovation for the group in spite of personal gain. Everyone here knows that tip it has the legal rights to the guides. We aren't discussing that. We're talking about ethics. You claim not giving permission is wrong. Would you also claim current IP laws are unethical? Probably not considering your post. Why isn't it unethical? Why is it beneficial to the community as a whole to let the author distribute his work at his own discretion? I believe the reasoning behind the answer will also apply to this particular case.
  10. Very good to hear. Seems the admins are handling this well now.
  11. What were the contents of the PMs? Or is it too sensitive to be made public?
  12. He's still the same person that put hours and hours into the guide. His reasons may not be very good, but that doesn't mean TIF has to reject his request on reasons just as bad.
  13. He was asked politely multiple times to not post in the manner he was posting in and continued to do so. What do this say about him? To me it says he doesn't respect the people who maintain this website for no benefit of their own and then let people use it for free. Wait, so are you openly admitting to claiming ownership of his guide out of SPITE? C'mon, Mike, that's absurd and you know it. We're not claiming ownership of his guide. We're claiming ownership over the post and its contents on our forums. Regardless, spite has nothing to do with it. I'm just pointing out that it's a bit hypocritical to expect us to respect someone's requests when they failed to do so for ourselves. Should the guide have been removed? Probably. But coming in with "You're not respecting his request" is a weak argument. You just admitted that the guide should have been removed. And by saying that since he didn't comply with everything you told him, you don't have to show any respect and do what is right, you aren't being any better. Two wrongs don't make a right... This @Darkdude: It seems you're letting your personal feelings affect your judgements. You've shown it when you locked that thread, and you're showing it now. Posters can be [wagon] but I expect mods and admins to be professional when they're making their decisions.
  14. Why don't you make your records public in such cases? I'm hearing lots of stories about recent bannings and your refusal to tell us anything makes you look like you're hiding something. Darkdude's supposed glee at a certain poster leaving just makes it worse. It's not necessary to announce every banning but you should explain your actions when challenged.
  15. You sir, are a waste of my time. Still, you've once again proven my point. And i believe you are a waste of the skin you are in. The world is a lovely place is it not? Please! Are we going to have this thread locked too? I don't see where the problem is. Jaffy was trollbaiting and i haven't eaten in a while. Yes, but pathetic as it is, this thread is the only way to talk to the administration publicly. And the mods seem very trigger-happy these days. I agree that Jaffy was trollbaiting, but you didn't need to respond in kind.

  17. Can't we have the debate club back again? Efficiency fans can go there and the Fun fans can refrain from insulting efficiency fans there. Efficiency isn't the problem, neither is Fun. The problem is the two groups clashing on every single subject and the mods moderating based on tone. It's difficult to not sound arrogant if you have hundreds of man-hours worth of statistics that tell you you're right. Just separate the two groups. Neither side will convince the other.
  18. Yes, the 200m thread is a model of good efficiency discussion. But you have to admit there are people complaining about all the math every few pages. It only works as well as it does because langer is doing a wonderful job keeping the thread on topic. (Not belittling the other posters and mods doing the same thing of course.)
  19. I have tried to stay impartial as well and not mix in this, but would you not agree that this trolling and spamming does no good either? What should be done (by both sides) is to go outside, bash a tree until that frustration is gone, go back inside and converse like adults. I'm sure neither party is unreasonable, but the behaviour by certain users portraying themselves as the victims was indeed rather hurtful and upsetting. I'm not going to pretend to know the details of what transpired, and honestly I do not want to know. Mods require evidence for their actions, records of things like that are made, and consequences follow for those involved. I understand that people are curious and want to know what's going on, but won't that only cause more drama? To those of you that are demanding things, please just stop for a minute, calm down, think about what you want and then say it like a mature person and not a troll. Just remember that we're all human. I see where you're coming from but really I think you need to make some of the records public. Here's what I see as an outsider. Some high-profile, well respected players have heated arguments with the administration and moderators. They start disappearing one by one. The remaining players raise hell about the disappearances. Mods claim all action taken was just. This claim is hotly contested. Mods say that posters don't know what happened. Posters ask for info. And so on. We'll see drama of course, but I don't see a way out without drama. Unless you think decimating the efficiency crowd isn't drama of course. This is perhaps the best Runescape forum there is. Please keep this from becoming a pile of rubble.
  20. I find myself sorely tempted to spew out profanities. @Darkdude: That's a great idea. Publish. You're not going to get anything done if people don't know what's happening and why it's happening.
  21. xpx and Ancient? I don't even... Now just ban Grimy and TIF will complete its metamorphosis into RSOF. @mods and admins: I rarely post on these forums, but I'm an avid reader of General Discussion. You guys need to get your act together. The people threatening to leave are the most important resources you have. I don't know how it looks to you, but speaking as a third party you are being ridiculously inane, authoritarian, and trigger happy. While I don't know the details, I'm pretty sure this schism wouldn't be happening if you TOLD US THE DETAILS AND DID THINGS IN PUBLIC. Stop trying to sweep everything under the rug. There's no way this is going to be resolved if the users only know bits and pieces of what's happening. As a side note, retired players really shouldn't be policing discussions about game mechanics.
  22. Thanks for the advice everyone. Any reason attacks should be made instead of higher lvl potions?
  23. I was thinking about spending 15 mil on herblore. I am currently lvl 35. How should I train herblore and how high can I expect to get? I can spend a few million more if necessary.
  24. I don't think you understand probabilities.
  25. Tact, answer me this. Is it morally wrong to bot agility? Would it still be morally wrong if Jagex allowed botting like some other games do? EDIT: Dan, so you believe in morality by consensus?
