  1. Good for you, Paperbag. Good luck.
  2. Thank you, Tripsis. That would be your formal inquiry I assume? My question was more about how Darkdude informally contacted Jagex to ask about the scripts. Apparently they said it was against the rules.
  3. Ok, seriously. What is your method of communication? I don't know what time it is there but it's Thursday in this part of the world. Do you have the question and reply yet? Why are you refusing to even tell us how you asked Jagex?
  4. I think your problem is with teenagers in general and not with Runescape. Also, I don't see why you think things like that should just be kept to real life. If anything, people should be freer on the Internet.
  5. That's a pretty petty example. It's obvious that it was a sarcastic response, didn't add anything to what was being discussed, etc. I thought this was a thread dedicated to feedback on moderation? I haven't seen the deleted post itself, so I don't know how inappropriate the post was but removing a post complaining about post removal is hilarious.
  6. Whoa this is a messed-up situation... Tell me, just how did you contact Jagex? A method that can show them the scripts in writing (I assume you didn't read it to them..) but cannot leave any records? I understand if you can't display the records because of privacy concerns, but telling us how you did it is hardly likely to infringe on someone's privacy, is it? And btw if you can't back your statements up with evidence you really shouldn't be using them in an argument, regardless of your statements truth value. Seems a bit naive to assume everyone would trust each other in this situation.
  7. Guild wars has no grind whatsoever (Besides titles which do nothing at all). It is a game built around competitive/fun play; money has no real value, items have no real value, you can get maxed weaponry for free. Yet people still bot. Don't delude yourself into thinking Jagex is the reason runescape has bots. What are the motivations behind botting in Guild Wars? I've never played it before.
  8. The point of the comp cape is that you cannot get those stats without doing the reqs.
  9. This doesn't have to be permanently on for every player. Jagex could monitor a randomly selected sample for a short time, then monitor another random sample for a short time and so on. Suspicious people would be flagged and permanently monitored until they are banned or found to be not botting. That being said, Jagex probably already does this.
  10. This. The subject of botting can be discussed from numerous angles. It's fine as it is, there are many bot threads because bots are a big issue. However, it would be nice if the threads were moderated to stay on their specific topic. 7 different bot threads on the first page is okay, 7 bot threads basically saying the same thing isn't.
  11. A quick question here. How broadly do you interpret the "no links to macro help sites" rule? For instance, anybody who was serious about making a bot would learn far more from Wikipedia (and the numerous references within Wikipedia) than they would from TEF. Now, I would suppose that I'd be allowed to link to pages in Wikipedia that have nothing to do with botting (the Martingale system for instance) but not to the autohotkey article. But it seems (correct me if I'm wrong), links to TEF's main page have been removed. Am I now not allowed to link to Wikipedia's main page?
  12. I think they're just private Yes, just private. Maybe he doesn't want to be tempted to return to RS? No. Zarfot said all his vids are now useless because it's not hard to click on a effigy. If he actually believes that then he's pretty silly tbh. Because noone is going to use effigies to train every single skill - after combat stats have been maxed out the xp/hr from effigies plummets, and as the slower stats get finished the benefit of the xp you do get drops as well. Noone is going to use effigies to train firemaking, summoning, thieving etc. etc. Yeah, he's probably only half-serious. It seems as if it's more of a rant against Jagex, not that they don't deserve it.
  13. I think they're just private Yes, just private. Maybe he doesn't want to be tempted to return to RS? No. Zarfot said all his vids are now useless because it's not hard to click on a effigy. Ah, Effigyscape.
  14. I think they're just private Yes, just private. Maybe he doesn't want to be tempted to return to RS?
  15. 1st part: Perhaps, maybe not. A lot of people play RS for the parts of it you can't reach without grinding for months. 2nd part: True, yet irrelevant. People mostly support the sellers (and even then usually only support the "Oh I've been playing for 6 years and have a 20b bank, I'd also like to pay for college" type, not the sweatshop type. Well, unless you want to get into the influence of bots/gold farmers on the RS economy but that's a slightly different subject.) of gp, not the buyers. They support them because in the end Runescape is a game which cannot take precedence over real life. In short, we're saying that it's a respectable decision if not the most honorable one. On the other hand, Jagex selling RSgp would ruin the game. Considering that we're on a fansite, it's perfectly reasonable for people to freak out.
  16. Wins what exactly? Imo Aasiwat just won. That honestly makes no sense. You don't win by not taking part in something. Using that logic I am better than everyone at everything I have never tried. His point is that Aasiwat did the sensible thing and decided to concentrate on real life instead of a computer game. You could say that the only winning move is not to play.
  17. Err... If your aim is to make money fast, you should be able to do better than tokkul with your stats. I'm not familiar with tokkul obtaining methods but Zaps said he played 3~4 hours a day and an unknown time on weekends. I'll assume he played 3 hours a day to skew the results in favor of tokkul and I'll use your figure of 18m gp. 18 million gp in 21 hours comes out to less than a million an hour and you really could do better with your stats. Even putting bosses aside, frost dragons should pay way better than 850k/hr. Heck, green dragons are better than that. Of course, if you just want tokkul for its own sake or just like the tzhaar then by all means go ahead.
  18. If it is possible to get a first person view, we could get wasd movement via hotkeys!!!
  19. Good luck. It'll be very interesting to read once finished.
  20. The bans were reversed of course, but I don't see that as a sign that the system is working well. If this massive fuss hadn't occurred over their bans, would they have been reversed? Because I seem to remember the staff arguing that the bans were just, we (users) don't know the full details, and that we will never get to know. If it takes a riot and a schism to reverse unjust bans, it's dysfunctional. Also, three users were banned in a short period of time. All three had their bans reversed. It looks a lot like a banning rampage by a small number of people. A rampage that took two days to reverse. Two days while the half the community was up in arms protesting. Why did the deliberation process take so long? Was the justice of the bans ambiguous? Did you break your principles to keep the community happy? To be honest, I don't see either of those being true. I think your system is messed up.
  21. I understand you can't suddenly change how things work. However, this whole mess is now past its most chaotic phase. You now have the time to change how things work. While you shouldn't publicize every ban I don't see any problem with doing so when the ban is publicly challenged by the banned (In principle, it wouldn't be difficult to remove abuse potential, perhaps create a board specifically for challenging bans that banned users can enter.). Not telling people what happened just leads to mistrust of the administration and we may see a rerun of these events again someday. What I'm hearing from the banned is that the bans were impulsive and based on personal grudges. Considering that the bans were reversed (meaning they were unjust), and that they probably wouldn't have been reversed if it wasn't for this whole affair, I think we can safely say that the system is seriously dysfunctional. In a year, this whole affair will have been forgotten and the potential for a rerun will reappear unless there are major changes to the system. I say transparency when asked is the only way to fix this. That is, unless you're going to go the whole way and have community votes on bannings, but you'll never do that (No offense, it's not even suitable for a community of this size.).
  22. I agree with this. They have the necessary expertise for the job.
  23. Definitely worth the bump
  24. Even if it has nothing to do with Jagex, it's not being optimally enforced.
