Cheating in Runescape and the Bigger Picture
Runescape is a Role-Playing Game. If somebody decides to take on the role of a scammer, lurer, or botter, then so much the worse for Jagex. <sarcasm> That's emergent gameplay for you </sarcasm>. While I won't bot, I wouldn't condemn those that do as morally bankrupt. Think of 'honor' in the wilderness. They're a set of arbitrary rules set to make PvP more fun. Jagex rules are set to make Runescape more fun (debatable, I know lol). Why do you consider Jagex rules a standard of absolute morality that can be extrapolated to the real world? Do you also consider honor to be like that? What is the moral difference between these sets of rules? Are Jagex rules more important simply because the legislating body has the banhammer? Finally, do you not realize that psych arguments without citations will fall flat every time? Have you put thought into this or did you just write what you thought 'must' be right? I'm guessing the latter. Authoritarian morality has a tendency to assume other people should and do think exactly the way they do.

How Would You Detect Bots?
I think the only solution is to make Runescape more dangerous. There aren't any Nex bots, staking bots or PKing bots despite the high profit potential of these activities. Why? Because their profit comes with one hell of a risk. While bots can be programmed to do almost anything, they are inherently dumb (as of yet...). Few people would trust a bot to keep their items safe if the players themselves had trouble keeping their items safe. Having said this, I have no idea how this could be implemented without bringing back PvP everywhere like in RSC... To the OP: You want far too much. You want a procedure to catch bots which couldn't be circumvented even if the scripters knew everything about the procedure? AND no false positives? In short, you want a task that a Turing machine cannot complete while humans can. You're only going to get that kind of thing if the human brain turns out to be a hypercomputer. I don't see Jagex (or any company for that matter) implementing supertasks into their game.

Account Hijacking & Jagex Item Return Policy
But the reasoning there is that Jagex does not have the resources to track the wealth of every single hijacked account. They have no obligation to invest their resources in that. In this case, Jagex has already tracked the perpetrators down. The police have no obligation to fish out the diamond that someone dropped into a septic tank. But if they've already fished it out, they'd better return it (Although a small fee seems reasonable).

Females playing RS?
You'll get this kind of thing on many online games. The loudest people are 12 year olds that can't grasp the fact that their view of the world is a sorely limited one. (Apologies to all intelligent 12-year-olds, I know you exist.)

Dice game
No matter what your strategy, you will always lose on average. People who think like you are what makes this game work.

Dice game
Why? People quite happily do so IRL.

Dice game
It doesn't matter if you play the game once or 1000 times, the winning ratio is always going to be (4/10). You might get a luck streak and make some money, but the longer you play, the closer your going to get to that 40% win average. Aside from a lucky roll, there is no way to win money playing the game for a long period of time. if you lost 999 games in a row, doubling your bet each time, but won the 1000th game, you would be ahead You would. But since both you and the host has a finite amount of money, you will lose money in the long run. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_(betting_system) Wikipedia has an okay article on it.

If there was one new feature you could add to Runescape, what would it be?
You mean a non-repeatable version of dungeoneering? I would like continuous space, WASD movement and a complete rework to combat. Seriously, the current combat system is like a computerized tabletop war game.

How to "lure"/kill Crafting Guild training bots @@300k drop@@
They collect beef? Geez, you learn something new every day...
-
Thank you, your abuse report has been received.
Meh, everyone should know the scams/lures. A guy offered me 200k to appear on a 'video' of his. I took half the money up front. He does the whole D baxe drop thing, I laugh and tell him I'm not interested in items with a high alch value and thank you for the 100k. It's hilarious when they fail so bad. The populations will educate itself through trial-and-error, the stupid will learn or die out, and scamming won't be that large of an issue. Give it a few weeks.

Is RS Dying?
I see no problem with personal attacks unless there's enough of it to stop the content getting across. I agree that the OP's point might be valid, but he is unwilling to provide evidence when asked. When someone insists that they're right without providing evidence, the only replies available are the ignore and the point-and-laugh. My thoughts in bold.

Abyssal Demons about to get better?
We don't have any confirmation about the ashed being any good yet, let alone if they are worth much. In all likelihood, as they might/should not be alterable, they'll be slow prayer xp(ecto is still atleast twice as slow as altar, around 4 times slower if the ashes don't stack), as the lowest monster droping the highest level ashes is extremely easy and fast to kill(nechryael, easier to kill than any dragons), they'll likely award similar/lower standard xp than dragon bones, which would put their price at around 2-2.5k each, not enough to make most players care much about them. Greater/lesser demon bones should be comparable to baby dragon ones, which wouldn't make anyone anywhere close to rich. Sorry for being a buzzkill, but i don't see this update having the whole scale impact everyone else sees. 2-2.5k per greater demon will be revolutionary in f2p. Expect god armour to rise if this happens.

Abyssal Demons about to get better?
Great, whips may reach their all time low.

Rarest phat?
You really shouldn't end the thread prematurely. Phat prices aren't solely dictated by supply you know... I'm pretty sure purple is the most common because of the dupe. Not sure about the rest, if someone has/can get data on relative phat abundance this topic might be worthy of General Discussion. I think I saw an RSOF thread on this topic some time ago but I have no idea how that went.

Great post. I especially liked the part where you added in comma's and periods! Yes, I like commas too.

Is RS Dying?
Pre-GE, items didn't fluctuate in price very much because there was no way for people to track the fluctuations. So, if coal stabilized at say 200gp, soon coal=200gp would be fixed in most people's minds. Sellers wouldn't accept less and buyers wouldn't accept more. Therefore prices were resistant to change. The Grand Exchange provided a reliable way to track those tiny fluctuations. People could be certain how much an item was worth and trade at that price. So prices became much more flexible, responding to smaller variations in supply and demand. tl;dr It's just a natural consequence of having a reliable trader barter for everyone. Everyone can be sure they got the best deal possible at that time, so they didn't have to rely on rules of thumb. Runescape isn't dying

200M in all Skills
So, probably no. Fair enough

200M in all Skills
That post by Viv got me wondering... Would cave crawlers be theoretically fastest exp for any buyable skills if you counted time spent making the money?

Whip vs. Chaotic Rapier?
Your question needs to be a bit more precise. If you care about gp/hr, it will be a mistake. If you don't really care about killing efficiency and enjoy killing slowly with a whip, feel free to do so. Sorry, I'll be more precise. Once I get back into Runescape, I pretty much only plan on doing slayer...so, is it worth it to spend god knows how many hours soloing DG to get a CLS? I don't group up because: 1.) I haven't learned the tricks of the trade 2.) I don't feel like being harassed for not doing things right by randoms(No patience for a newb) Well... If you're going to spend a lot of time slaying, a chaotic will save you a LOT of time. I recommend you get it even if you have to solo DG your way to it. And as an added tip, a rapier would be better than a CLS. There was a massive thread on this a few pages back.

The End of Runescape
Dude, this is a forum. You know, a place where people exchange ideas? If you say something that makes a dozen people think "rubbish!", they're going to express it. Anyway, most people are just politely asking for confirmation from a reliable source. No need to go all "I couldn't care less what you think" when it's plain that you do. You guys are being nasty to me so Imma be nasty back. We're not trying to be nasty to you. We're trying to check if you're giving us accurate information. I'm sorry about suspecting your information but false/exaggerated news has been on these forums multiple times.

Praying Brawlers?
Personally, I'm betting they'll add training spots for the useless brawlers to the wild. They've been hinting at adding improved resources to the wilderness to encourage skillers to go out there. Maybe some blackjackable NPCs in the rogue castle and boosting the prayer brawler bonus to 500% for bones buried in the wilderness. IF the problem crossed their mind.
