\m/-----Metal Sub-Genre Dictionary!!!!-----\m/
Death Metal (this one does bend genres a bit at times, but still.) Power Metal | Drone (Sped up!) Industrial (with a hint of drone) Folk Metal Grunge (would you guys consider this kind of grunge a sub genre of metal?) Heavy Metal There is a small tidbit of some of the various genres. Pretty much said you should be able to tell the difference quite easily between these, and you'll see why sub genres are needed. im sorry man but honestly cant tell a huge difference between most. and the only one I even remotley enjoyed was folk metal but dont really see how thats metal anyhow but maybe its just not my style thanks for gettin all those links and stuff really nice Death More straight forward examples here, but I think the difference is pretty obvious. edit: fixed link.

\m/-----Metal Sub-Genre Dictionary!!!!-----\m/
It is a sub-genre. It's elements metal fused with hardcore punk (I assumed you knew that already though). While you guys may hate the genre for any reason whatsoever, there are people who LIKE it. That's why it isn't metal (yes I added elements because that's what it is). That doesn't make it metal, though. Speaking of which, why do people want their precious -cores to be metal? Why does it [bleep] matter? Also, how do two great genres (hardcore punk and metal) fused together suck so [bleep] bad? It's a travesty, because it should be so [bleep] good! but it [bleep] sucks! Oh, and I assume you know EVERYTHING about metal. And the last paragraph is very opinionated. <_< I really do. Everything in this thread is opinionated. yr point?

We speak of differences in velocity and vocal technique...amongst other things. About the same difference between punk rock and progressive rock.

Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone (New Album)
Mmmm...elitist is the wrong word, but nevermind that. As for the 'cores'...most of their metal elements are too diluted or nonexistent. The only -core that really retains it is death-metalish grindcore (Terrorizer).

Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone (New Album)
I'd say that for a band to technically be deathcore the vocalist would have to employ pig squeels or guttural growls, whereas the vocalist in SlipKnot shouts more than anything else. However, they could quite easily fit on the "lighter" end of the deathcore spectrum. Either way, I still consider deathcore to be metal. That's perhaps more a point of opinion than anything else. Sounds fair to me. Always did remind me of In Flames if they tried deathcore. Slipknot always seemed fake to me though. Sort of like they're not being honest with themselves. What do I care though? Rest of my posts will be trolling people in this topic anyways. The only -core I consider metal is grindcore, but that's probably because where I live.

Gosh, I wish my knowledge and taste in the Metal genre was SO refined like yours is. It's okay to be envious. Not everyone can be the best. There can only be one, and I was lucky enough to be bestowed with this knowledge. Perhaps one day...nah, who am I kidding? Your little game failed. I am the best and always will be.

I don't really care if you don't like them, I'm not a huge fan either. But to say that they're not metal is just ridiculous. What exactly do you base your claim on? There's only three explanations I can think of: 1. You don't know anything about metal. - I'm gonna say that this isn't the correct explanation, based on you being.. Adio. 2. You don't deem fusion sub-genres of metal as true metal. - If this is the case, then what else? Sludge isn't metal? Post-Metal isn't metal? 3. You don't like the music, and so you don't deem it worthy of being associated with one of your favourite genres. - If this is the case, grow the [bleep] up. 1. Nope. 2. They sound like deathcore...maybe even deathcore lite mixed with some really bad in flamesisms and other garbage. Not metal. 3. There's worse bands in metal. Like I stated before 95%+ of metal is mostly trash. If they enter that 95% in the future, then so be it, but at this moment, nope, not metal. That answer your question?

Bands That Have Died
Their new stuff is horrid, but I actually like some of their older albums. I was told that "Whoracle" and "Colony" were ABSOLUTE MUST LISTENS LOLOLOLOL and I was really quite disappointed. They seem like a crap Dark Tranquillity. Oh, in that case, yeah, they're not IF U DON'T LISTEN U DONT LIEK MUSIC LOLOL albums, but I find Colony and Clayman to be enjoyable listens ever so often. In Flames seem very superfluous when compared to their contemporaries.

I'm just shattering the glass...they're not metal and I have listened to new songs (it was aural torture), and they suck. Simple as that. You voice your opinion, I'll voice mine. If you don't like it, then I invite you to [bleep] more. It's funny. And That's funny SilverSword. :-)
