  1. [hide=Fishing Spots Quote Train] Yes it does actually ! - as long as you're lower in the skill you'll not fish as fast as those who are higher than you. Fishing spots are similar to the concentrated ore veins in the Living Rock Caverns; the number of people working them is inconsequential, since the resources run dry/reset on randomised time intervals. It's different from chopping trees for Woodcutting and the like. Actually, the more people at a fishing spot the more likely the spot is to move. Since the game makes a dice roll everytime somebody clicks to fish on a spot. Therefore, its slower to fish with lots of people around because the spots move around alot more. Nope, have you ever fished at rock caverns when there are 200+ people at the same fishing spot? Those spots last 20-30 minutes all the time. The fishing spots move randomly, and it doesn't matter how many people are fishing. [/hide] Mhm, the only time the number of players ever had an effect on fishing spots was when the 'whirlpool' and 'big fish' random events were still around. [/off-topic]
  2. Ahh, that's my mistake. I knew what I was saying, but I suppose it didn't come out quite right at 2:00 in the morning, heh. I worded it poorly, I admit. I've adjusted the wording, so it now reads: I hope that's a bit more clear, although feel free to contact me if you have something to add or comment on. Thanks. :)
  3. The thread in question has been moved here and taken care of. As for your own submission, the note did indeed refer to the Bull Roarer, and that's now been made clear. 'Thanks for pointing that out. :)
  4. I've read through the guide, and yes, this looks to be something worth mentioning. There is now a note outlining the danger in both Step 3 of the quest guide and in the "Tips & Tricks" section. I've credited you for bringing this to our attention, as well. Thanks for your submission, and please feel free to pm me if you'd like to discuss this further. :)

  6. Tuna works (it's what I used during the first week). I cooked ~200 before I received both stones, if that helps at all.
  7. I'm completely against the idea of having "Bonus XP Weekends"; I thought it was managed nicely, but it's simply too much of a "good thing". Leveling in Runescape has inevitably become easier over time, but implementing something like this is taking it too far. The sheer amount of experience which can be gained during these events is almost repungnant; I'm sure anyone who's seen some of the "before & after pictures" from the event would agree (especially those involving Summoning and Herblore experience gains). Concerning myself, I choose, for the most part, not to participate in the frenzy. I believe I ran a single Farming run and Runecrafted for an hour or two at the Ourania Altar, and that was the extent of my weekend playing. It wouldn't feel right (IMO) to take advantage of what I see as a mistake on Jagex's part. I sincerely hope that another Bonus Weekend will not be planned, as I believe that too many will begin to seriously devalue RS gameplay. The events will ultimately cause a great deal of chaos every time they are announced, and, along with the exorbitant amount of experience which can be gained during each, they simply will become more trouble than they're worth.
  8. I agree with Paw_Claw; this would probably be better suited as a stand-alone guide/tip on the forums. :) Thanks for the suggestion, though! If you want to write a guide on the topic, you can start one here, by the way. 'Good luck, and thanks again!
  9. I've added a bit of information to the item entry and inserted an appropriate note into the "Tips and Tricks" section of the quest guide. Thanks for your help! I've duly credited you in both the entry and the guide, by the way. :)
  10. Thank you all very much; this is exactly what I needed to know. :) The situation doesn't look much better, but I'll try to take it one step at a time and hopefully work up to a White Partyhat. Maybe I'll get lucky along the way, heh. :o Thanks again!
  11. Thanks for the replies, everyone. The news is a bit disheartening, but I suppose it's to be expected after delaying all these years. I'll have to aquaint myself with the Rares Market and the workings of Junk Trading after all, heh. 'Off I go. *EDIT* Which rare(s) should I look into buying first? Basically, which are still somewhat attainable but can still serve as adequate bargaining chips for a White Partyhat? What about junk?
  12. Alright, here's some background information: Pre-GE, I owned an Easter Egg and a Mask Set. However, I sold these along with most of my more-valuable items once "old-school" Pking was removed and the Grand Exchange was implemented (with trade restrictions following soon after). The Rares Market had been fairly stagnant for quite some time before this, and so I was afraid when I saw the unheaval Runescape was going through - the market was unstable, the community volatile, and everything (in general) was seemingly going to hell in a handbasket. I decided to invest in the one thing left which had any sort of stability - skill experience. It was an incredibly naive and hasty decision in retrospect, but I was a bit younger at the time and all the turmoil had an unsettling effect on me. Anyway, I sold most of my valuable items off for a pittance in order to fund my skilling activities (particularly Farming, Magic, and Crafting, if I remember correctly). Since then, I've mostly kept myself ignorant of the Rares Market out of regret (I was almost sick recently when I saw how much Easter Eggs have risen in price, considering I had bought my previous one for ~1 million coins). ----------------------------------- Now, a long-time goal of mine has been to purchase a White Partyhat, as it's my personal favourite of the Rares and would serve ultimately as something of a memento of my Runescape "career". However, I've always procrastinated and put off trying to buy one in favour of accomplishing some other goal, and so my opportunities to pursue it have dwindled over the years; with rares only becoming more valuable and scarce over time, I feel that I must act soon if I am to obtain one at all. As the situation currently stands, I'll have to put forth a considerable amount of effort to even hope to purchase a White Partyhat in the near future. Through neglect and poor decisions similiar to the one mentioned above, my net-worth has shrunk to approximately 200-250 million coins, by my estimate. I'd have to liquidate a fair portion of my bank to scrape together this sum, but I'm willing to do so, if need be. However, I realize that this would only put a dent in the 400 million price-tag of the White Partyhat, as currently listed by the GE. It's also likely, I'm sure, that the street price far exceeds this, although I've no idea at the moment. Consequently, I'll be attempting to make as much money as possible in the coming weeks/months. 'Perhaps I'll try my hand at a bit of Monster Hunting and Merchanting. To my questions: 1. What is the current status of the White Partyhat (i.e. street price, availablility, etc...)? 2. Is it necessary for me to buy into "Junk" or other Rares in order to purchase one? If so, which? 3. Where should I go to have the greatest probability of finding someone willing to sell (GE, RSOF, other Forums, etc...)? These are the main questions I have, and I'll be indebted to anyone who can lend me some sound advice. However, I'm also open to other information pertaining to the Rares Market/Junk Trading in general. Is there perhaps some place I can go to keep abreast of the changes? I've noticed that the Tip.It Marketplace isn't exactly "bustling", and I know the RSOF to often be a home to manipulators and their ilk. 'Thanks in advance. :)
  13. I'm not a fan of the "x10 damage" update. However, I believe "Constitution" is a more fitting name for the skill than "Hitpoints", and I also like the idea of seperating the skill level from the actual amount of damage you can take. To be clear, I support these latter two changes. ;) Now, why am I not a fan of the first? It is simply because there is virtually no net-benefit to the update. While the previously truncated decimal damages can now be properly expressed because of this (and as a result, we can earn a slightly higher amount of combat experience per hour), it also means that monsters/npcs can inflict a bit more damage on us as well. The extra damage isn't too noticeable under normal circumstances, but in multi-combat situations the effect is multiplied. In my opinion, the slight increase in experience we receive is not worth the added hassle while Slaying or Monster Hunting (or while engaged in other such combat activities). I've heard the Spinolyps in the DK Lair are particularly more annoying now, heh. There's also the small matter of aesthetics; I don't care for the "higher hits" at all. The ridiculously high damage splats are unappealing to me, and as many other people have already said, I'd be playing another game (one better suited for PvP/combat) if I wanted to deal such damage. And no, by the way, I shouldn't have to "get used" to this aspect of the update, although I undoubtably will with time. From what I can see, there was little benefit to the change (much of it being negated by the increased damage we take), and so there's no reason to why it was implemented. The "low damages are boring" rationale that Jagex put forth is almost repulsive in my eyes, to be honest; players can always train their combat stats if they're "bored" of hitting 0's, and it makes me think all the more that Jagex is copying other MMO's by multiplying our damage output to make combat artificially more "exciting". Jagex is an innovative gaming company; they've succeeded with Runescape by doing things differently from other, similar companies. There's no need for them to start doing otherwise now, and this is why I don't support this part of the update. I'm not the type to go off rioting ingame or flaming on the RSOF about the change, but I am certainly not pleased with it.
  14. Thanks. :) And yeah, I'm not very happy with the snakes; they detract from the rest of the image as they are now, imo. I definitely need more experience drawing animals/other living creatures, heh. Thanks, unlike with the snakes, I'm very pleased with how the wings turned out. It was certainly worth the time drawing and redrawing the outline until it looked alright. :) Mhm, I think I see what you mean by the colours being "saturated", though. I tried to vary the tints/shades of the colours I was using (to create some form of quasi-shading, since I've no idea how to do it properly otherwise), but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Without being zoomed in on the image, the colours blend together and the quality is lost. :( That's probably my biggest problem with this, tbh. Perhaps it'll get easier with practice; I'll have to do a bit of experimenting. :o ---------------------------------------------- 'My thanks to you both for the C/C. I'll work on what you've suggested and see if I can't manage to improve a bit. :)
  15. I'm generally always out of the loop in these discussions, so I apologise in advance for my ignorance. Anyway, I sold a Blood Talisman while cleaning out my bank and was surprised to find that it sold for well over 100k. Afterward, I looked up the GE graph for the item and saw that it's been practically skyrocketing in price... is there a specific reason for this? Did I just inadvertently sell a "new Mint Cake"? Also, if anyone could take the time to tell me, what's the status of White Phats? Thanks in advance. :)
  16. 'Heya. I've been interested in pixel art for quite awhile, but I haven't had the confidence to try my hand at it until recently. However, my time on the Website Crew has changed the situation for the better, I'm happy to say; I've gained some much-needed experience through mapping and image manipulation for Tip.It. So yes, I'm new to digipainting, but hopefully my first attempt won't be too disappointing. Anyway, I chose to draw the Caduceus of Mercury/Hermes - a mythological, winged staff with twin serpents entwined along its shaft. I thought it would make for an interesting test of skill, but I completely underestimated the task, as it turns out. :-# I spent probably 8-9 hours working on this, all in all (although about half of that was time wasted from having to start over on the wings and serpents a dozen times apiece :wall:). I can only hope that I can draw a bit faster on future projects, heh. [hide=Transparentized Image:][/hide] [hide=Untransparentized Image:][/hide] This is the final product. 'Your thoughts? I don't know anything of technique, I'm afraid, so I had to make due with throwing time at the project and hoping it'd look alright at the end. Any C/C you can offer me will be greatly appreciated, and I'd also be grateful if anyone can point me towards a good, up-to-date tutorial which I (as a complete beginner) would be able to follow. Thank you in advance. :) *EDIT* Made a couple changes.
  17. To be honest, you shouldn't concern yourself over training Consitution specifically. Most players who do come to regret it after they reach level 99, as the experience gained afterward is essentially useless. Simply train your combat stats as you would normally, and you'll naturally accumulate Constitution experience over time. The simple answer is: "whatever you want". All forms of combat training will also earn Constitution experience.
  18. I've read through the relevant section, and I found that it already instructs players to read the book before speaking to Hadley. Were you referring to something else, or do you believe that the writing isn't explicit enough?
  19. Good eye! I've adjusted the wording to reflect the shop changes, accordingly. Thank you very much for your submission; you've been added to the credits list, by the way. :)
  20. I agree, it does seem unnecessary. I suppose I'll grow accustomed to the change sooner or later, but in the meantime I find it to be an annoyance. There just doesn't appear to be much benefit to this update, in all honesty. (I do think "Constitution" suits the skill's name better than "Hitpoints", however.)
  21. Oooh, thanks for letting us know! The link's been fixed now, I'm happy to say. 'Cheers, and thanks again. :)
  22. Mhm, we've addressed this issue in the "Tips and Tricks" section: The quest guide was written several years ago, so it's understandable that there were far fewer gloves at the time. At any rate, it appears that the majority of gloves today will still suffice for this quest, although there are a few exceptions (which is why the note was added). Thank you for your time and submission. I believe the note covers the problem adequately, but certainly feel free to pm me if you disagree. :)
  23. Mhm, that was a mistake. I've fixed it now; thank you very much for letting us know! :)
  24. Hello, Qindalf. :) I'm afraid the required items list at the top of every quest guide is reserved for important items which are not provided during the quest, so the scorpion cage is an example of an item which we will not list there. However, you'll be happy to hear, I'm sure, that I've made a change to the quest guide which should solve the problem anyway. I found that the quest guide was written in an outdated format, so I've edited the guide to include defined steps along with seperate required/suggested item lists for each part of the quest. Here's the updated quest guide, if you would like to see what I mean: Scorpion Catcher Quest Guide Please let me know through pm if you find this unsatisfactory, and thank you for the suggestion. Cheers! :)
  25. I've read over step 11 in the quest guide (the relevant section) a few times, but I'm afraid it never states that you have to kill ten more trolls upon reentry should you leave before killing the King. I suppose it's nice to know that you don't have to do it again, but the guide doesn't imply otherwise. Thank you very much for the information, but unfortunately I don't know that I can make use of it. :(
