  1. You seem quite certain all three of boston's draft picks will turn out to be the next 3 versions of sidney crosby... You also seem quite determined to mindlessly bash toronto fans at every opportunity, and the wendel clark comment proves it. A checker who had an 80 point season, a bad player? Are you out of your mind? In Blyaunte world, it seems that anyone short of ovi is a terrible player. Next you'll try to tell us that BB was an idiot for drafting the Sedins  Oh, and my comment about detroit was answering his. Not swaying away from the point. As for Phaneuf? Yeah, he has a habit of making bad pinches. That said, when he's on his game he's a force to be reckoned with.
  2. Detroit's last rebuild was 20+ years ago. They've remained competitive without tanking since then. The kings are downright scary? They were barely making the playoffs for the first half of the season....They'll be worrying about cap space pretty quickly as well.
  3. I agree. Plenty of teams have managed to be competitive without tanking terribly (new jersey and detroit come to mind).

Not that they are incapable of logic, more that they are incapable of examining their beliefs with a rational, logical, critical mindset - because, I believe, if they could do this, they would no longer be religious. And that's all I have to say on the subject. Well, I must say if that's what you believe you might want to do exactly what you're suggesting - I think you'll find it untrue. But yes, I suppose this is neither the time nor the place.

Oh come off it. A quick search on amazon will lead you to thousands of authors who've made it their life's work to understand their religion from a philosophical, scientific, and biblical perspective. I know a great deal of religious people, and many of them have considered their faith quite deeply. Not mentioning, of course, that implying religious people are incapable of logic is a great way to start an argument.

This sentence basically proves you're "that guy". ;) No, "that guy" is the guy who goes around constantly starting religious arguments. So you're any better by implying that all religious people are incapable of logic?

  8. Why on earth would you do that? Is the animal going to be able to understand your sacrifice? What would the animal achieve during its lifespan? Would the animal be grateful? I have my reasons. That's all i will say. And i am not asking for a animal to be grateful towards me. Afterall it's a animal, besides a animal can't understand it like that. If you save a animal directly, sure it will, but without it seeing with it's own eyes? Nah doubt it would understand that lol. Then what's the point? It sounds admirable enough, sure; but only on the surface. What ends up happening is that a human life ceases to exist (which can make the world a better place) and an animal life does (which will probably not have any effect on the world as a whole).

  10. Who says the leafs are in a 5 year rebuild? Brian Burke has maintained since he came to Toronto that tanking for draft picks was never his goal. If the leafs were trying to do a complete rebuild, I'd agree with you completely. But they aren't.
  11. No, I turned on all my lights, ran both my heater and air conditioner, gave my bathtub a hot shower for an hour, and idled both my cars in my garage. In all seriousness, this "day" is useless. Using less energy doesn't take one hour a year, it takes a change of lifestyle and long-term commitment. That's what we need to be fostering, not some garbage populist celebration. Personally, I usually take the bus/walk/bike rather than drive - I always try to turn off all the lights, my family rarely uses air conditioning (heating obviously is a must) and we have some energy efficient appliances (where it actually makes sense).

I never said the fact that people died for something made it inherently right - but it does at least indicate there is powerful evidence to believe it's true. And why would they believe a lie? They were right there - they would have been the first ones to call bs if something was wrong. Of course humans don't have inate lie-detection - but generally we believe things that are true, or at least when we have reasonable evidence of such. You're still not answering my question - these people died for Jesus right when these events were occuring. If Jesus was a fraud, surely they would have been the first to know - and why then would they have laid their lives on the line for that? Once gain, I don't see anyone being martyred for pastafarianism.

You also have to ask yourself - why was the bible written down at all? If the events were frankly untrue, nobody would have listened; they would have shrugged them off as foolish mis-truths (just as we do so with pastafarianism today). If the events were merely meant to lie to people, why would hundreds of people have died for a lie? The only logical conclusion is that the events dictated in the bible have some basis in fact. @ginger: Yes, that's exactly the point he's making. People who died for womens rights, or for civil rights, had dedicated themselves to it - they most firmly believed in it and were ready to die for what they stood for.
  14. Chicago didn't just give up the goaltenders, they lost a lot more. I could still see them doing fairly well in the playoffs (if they make it). And faux, the leaf trolling never ends. My theory is that most of the trolls are just ex-leafs fans who are ashamed that they've jumped ship. Fair weather fans, ya know? :P

I find it laughable that people actually think China has the capability to be the next superpower. Firstly - they are just as economically dependent on the US as vice versa. Secondly - their barbaric population controls will make it impossible for their economy to flourish enough to give them any sort of hope for economic stability in the long term. Though, the US does have a serious debt problem which of course merits looking at. Of course, so do most countries.
  16. Apparently the leafs playoff hopes have gone down the drain as of that loss lol. Surprised it's taken people that long to realize they weren't going to win every single game. Realistically, the way Buf and NY have been playing even if the leafs went 7-0-0 over the last 7 they still wouldn't have made it. Signed, A leafs fan, aka "next year"
  17. How are the leafs ignoring the rebuild? They just traded away three veteran players for prospects and draft picks..... How are the leafs anything like a weaker detroit?
  18. Best post on this thread haha. But yeah, you're right. Obviously a bad +/- isn't a good thing, but it's directly relative to who you play with. I think Kessel does sometimes have problems with backchecking but during other games he's been excellent. For forwards, I think your center most affects +/-, since he's always supposed to be the first one back. And indeed, looking at the leafs stats shows Bozak with the worst +/-, not kessel. I like Bozak but he's having a pretty bad year and I think he should be a third line center rather than a first line one. No luck for the leafs last night, both car and buf won.
  19. I've spent like $25 on stuff. So much for not doing mini-transactions lol. Oh well, I gave away all my crates so I wouldn't be tempted to buy more keys haha.
  20. I also never said that either. All I'm saying is that you can't prove they screwed themselves over on the kessel trade.
  21. And Vinny Lecavalier is -113 on his career. Your point? +/- isn't everything.
  22. I'm sorry, but that's not true. He's a proven thirty goal scorer with a bad +/-. That hardly makes him toskala.
  23. I'm not trying to make it a good thing. It's just, you guys are acting like they picked up Alex Daigle here...
  24. Kessel has more goals than half of them - and they all have bad +/-'s.
