Which happens when you have a sexual relationship without a healthy emotional one :)

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I drastically disagree....at least on the point that a romantic relationship requires sex immediately.

What did you do today?
Goal not completed until you can do it with either arm! :P

What did you do today?
I think at most I benched 125 at 175 body weight. I could probably do 100 at 140 bw now...

Cars
Standard means manual, at least here. It's basically a corolla with a different shape..nothing fancy..

Cars
Dead thread is dead, so I bought a car. Nothing fancy, 2003 Toyota matrix, standard (learning to drive atm).

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I'd say that people in the examples you cite are not in healthy emotional relationships as it is. Those things are all signs of immaturity, and people with problems such as that are not capable of having a healthy emotional relationship until they learn to put things in perspective. Having sex would aggravate those problems, not help them.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
In short, I think that a sexual relationship co-existing with an unhealthy emotional relationship can sometimes cloud your judgement. Because you have that sexual bond which you've discussed at great length, it can contribute to acting irrationally and against your best interests...

These two statements seem contradictory...

I'd love if you waited for him to answer before you start accusing me :)

Question for you: You remember "the ex", right? Do you think you'd have stayed with her past her first indiscretion if you hadn't been having sex with her?

I guess I just disagree with you...not much more to say there.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Because one of them is more important than the other...the fact that pretty much any sexual relationship of any kind is preceded by some sort of emotional connection is proof enough of this...aka courting ritual.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Of course, but I think the physical aspects of a relationship are much more likely to succeed when followed by a strong emotional relationship, not the other way around.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I think that when you have sex right off the bat, you build a relationship that is dependent on sex, and if that ever goes you have nothing else to fall back on.

I don't understand. It seems like that's exactly what you're saying. @_@ Asexual people can have healthy relationships but since they're in the very, very small minority they're not what I'm talking about, clearly. So it's more true than you're willing to admit. I don't necessarily mean never having sex, i'm disagreeing with the idea that you have to have sex right off the bad to have a healthy relationship. And yes, I believe that's entirely possible, for anyone...

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Not even remotely true. Healthy, non-sexual relationships are entirely possible and in some ways even beneficial. @Muggi: We're so far apart on this issue that I'm not even going to bother responding in detail lol....

So what kind of healthy relationship demands sex and then bails if it isn't given? :P
-
"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Well, I imagine you're looking at this from the perspective of a hook-up, I'm looking at it as a relationship thing...

That's just douchey in my opinion. What do you want? Do you want a relationship, or just to get laid?
-
"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Exactly. Tell her you're not interested in hanging out until she decides what it is she wants.

Sounds good if it'll make you happy for now. Just keep in mind that Claire's behavior is completely normal for girls her age. The sooner you can accept that and learn to deal with it, the sooner you'll quit getting upset over it when it happens again in the future. I disagree that that behavior is completely normal. Common, sure..but not normal.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Cowboys and aliens. I'm impressed by the sheer volume of terrible cliche movie moments they managed to pack into a mere two hours. 2/10, would not watch again.

That "women communicate indirectly" thing is mostly bullshit. Sure, it's fair to a point, but you don't have to put up with it. I know plenty of women who communicate quite directly when it's an issue of any importance. It's not your job to read her mind - and as long as you act like it's your job she'll keep making it your job. Then again, take this advice with a grain of salt. If it was me in this situation, I have no problems with not getting laid (I don't do casual hookups anyway). You may find this advice does make her leave, and you won't get any. Of course, if it's a relationship you want, this advice can help immensely.
