Still, that doesn't wave the viral marketing part of the theory, or they would just go for a password requirement on this one, as well. Supposedly, their macro detection and such is good enough that they feel safe enough to bring the old RS back. I'm not sure it's a good idea financially, but I suppose the game was more fun back then... Although that might just be rose tinted glasses talking.

Yeah, and I also know that they aren't even checking if the username is valid or not. If you put the pieces together... I think it's fairly obvious that they've already decided they're bringing it back and this is just a viral publicity stunt. Smart move on their part.

Dungeoneering Again
Probably at like 10:30. Until then, I'll be redoing the DoW original campaign because I want to do a perfect run.

I think that a system such as that would work much better if there was a more solid and predefined system... Like a research tree. It doesn't really suit this game, though would make a fairly decent defining feature for a game unto itself. Perhaps down the road it could be used to build another game.

I am not good with that many subcategories. Out of habit, I like to classify things into as large a group as possible, and having 5 sub-sub-skills per sub skill, of which there are 5 per skill, of which there are around 20 which are practical, infinite which are not... It would drive me really rather insane.

Well, imagine this... A certain kind of thinker is drawn towards a certain type of magic... They are not naturally adept at it. And Nex, evil is a point of view. You just contradicted yourself by saying that good and evil must be determined... But that you can't use soul magic unless you believe what you are doing is right. So if somebody destroys a town and kills thousands to buy a better house, using soul magic because they believe they were right, does that make them chaotic good?
-
Dungeoneering Again
That would be soul magic... Anyone can use it, really. No alignment specification. It might not be as effective in somebody who has inner conflict or some other metaphysical jazz, but then again, it might be stronger in another aspect. And Nex, remember: SHADES. OF. GREY.

Well, it could be that seals weaken over time... That's the excuse a lot of stories use. As for overly elaborate chambers and such, that can be handwaved by ritualism.
-
Dungeoneering Again
Huh, so, nobody is even considering why, how, or who sealed this things away... And why they weren't just imprisoned in the artifacts in the first place?

Dungeoneering Again
It'd be better if the characters perma-death was more dramatic. I mean, you got stabbed in the knee and died of blood loss to some overgrown bugs.

40" ... I know when I'm beat. I'll be over here with my 23" monitor, crying.

Session is likely going to be at 10:30.

Self diagnosis proves nothing. If you really want to know, then you should go to a psychotherapist or some other kind of mind docter... Although if you only just thought of it, worst case scenario, it's extremely mild, and, personally, I would not *want* to know.

Dungeoneering Again
No session today due to confusion on my part. I'll do one tommorow instead. Also, yes, it was discussed beforehand, and very little xp was gained.
-
Dungeoneering Again
No, Mather, unless by that you mean that you learn how it moves and work out how to fight it better, but fighting it mutliple times has no in game effect.

Puzzle changes every time Retech. You're a scholar, so your first thought at the massive gaping abyss, exploding with an unkown magic, or a semi-sentient jungle, also possessed of mysterious magic, is to stay away and piddle about with ice magic on a lakeside instead... Take initiative and go look for these things. You say you want to learn the secrets of magic? Then go be on the frontlines and help MAKE the secrets of magic.
-
Dungeoneering Again
That's the point... Ice would always melt unless you use the metal in it's creation. I noticed that, instead of actually, y'know, *looking* for the metal in question, you decided to moan at me about ice being underpowered... Seems like an odd thing to me, given that you spent the last session doing nothing of any real relevence to anything except terrorising the people of Hallowdale.
-
Dungeoneering Again
It's just that permenant ice is on the outskirts of stupidity town... Still, if it matters that much to you, I'll allow it on a small scale (For the record, I have actually mentioned a method for it, but you either ignored it or didn't notice...), but it is going to be extremely tiring, and if you try to make an ice castle in a single move, though, rocks will fall. And yeah, higher level magic makes it easier to cast.

Dungeoneering Again
Magical stamina is the same stat as regular stamina. If you run a marathon, then try to cast spells, you are going to be very bad at it.
-
Dungeoneering Again
If it ever comes to player vs. player, I'll take the actions of all the combatants and then roll from there to work out a scenario... In fact, doing that for NPC enemies would probably be a good idea as well... Retech, yes, I have mentioned it before... Not like I'm going to give it out very easily though. And fire magic being able to make raw materials is logical, since fire is sort of an industrial thing. Glass can be created using fire, but you can't smelt ore using the power of cold.

Dungeoneering Again
From a purely metagame perspective... Is it wise to put so much effort into a might-be-or-might-not-be-plot-sensetive item?

The Back Room
Perhaps somebody is just a bad designer.
-
Dungeoneering Again
Nah, Aura is basically just general magical presense and manipulation of said presense.

18 inches makes it more like a short sword than a knife. Are you sure it's intended for throwing?
