  1. Okay, as I recall, the mongolians were expert archers, so the cliffs really do not help... We need a way to turn it back on them, and I think I might just have such a way. I'll need to check it out with Retech first though.
  2. I'll need a terrain map if I'm going to fight the mongols effectively... Anybody have one handy?
  3. Simply outnumbering them will not do. Retech has already said that Khan is a great general. We need to abuse the terrain and take any advantage offered.
  4. Righto. Retech, do the scouts have any intel on where exactly the mongols will strike? (Like, say, a map of the nearby terrain and such?)

Nah, I think I'm rank 15 right now.
  6. Well, the pope should still be informed.
  7. Dungeonal is plotting with the Mongols, eh?
  8. Hey Rocco, need a bit of help there?

I have two greatswords, you have lance. Bloody hell this game loves to screw people over. So anyway, I was killing Rathian with some other dude, and he got hit by the explosion attack and reduced to like 10%. Kept his bloody switch axe out and tried to continue attacking. By this point he had already died twice, Rathian charges, he dies, mission failed. Then, we get back to the tavern, he CHOOSES THE SAME QUEST, and starts YELLING AT *ME* for not wanting to do it again.
  10. Oh hey. Rocco and Icu, do you want to form an anti-khan pact? Seeing as we're all neighbors, we should face the common enemy.
  11. Mmhm, told you it was out there somewhere, Icu.
  12. I was offering advice, take it or leave it. Icu, keep a copy of The Art of War handy. It helps, believe me Theres a pdf of it floating around on the interwebs somewhere.
  13. If you really want to use them, then I'm not going to argue with you, and I'll stop trying to persuade you otherwise; It'll just make it far easier to win should a situation arise where somebody needs to fight you.
  14. Or you can have all of your coastal towns look out for raiders and have them prepare... Raiders are no threat to anybody who is at all good at this game, and relying on them will make you lose. Take my advice, it'll help you live a bit longer, and don't rely on raiders as a major part of your offensive strategy.
  15. raiding forces are generally unorganised barbarians. Very easy to beat or fend off by any competant general, and if they don't get any momentum, they have no supply lines. If they fail in their first few attacks, they'll pretty much be sitting ducks. No match for an army, by any means. They're more about killing civilians and taking stuff from small cities. They'd be hopeless at taking anything more than a farming village.
  16. Eh. Any sacrifice at all should be considered and an alternative should be found. I still think the morale of your troops is going to suffer, since it really was a pyrrhic victory. You recieved far greater losses and walked away without capturing your objective, and yet, because you managed to kill an equal number of troops, it's a victory? I dun get it, captain.
  17. I believe it's called a Pyrrhic Victory. Not to mention that your soldiers morale must be pretty crappy since they can see that they're just being thrown into the meatgrinder with the hopes that with enough bones, it might just jam up. Unless you're going full out IG on their ass. They'd rather charge the enemy because their commander is probably worse to be around. In fact, you're halfway there already with the whole "SUFFOCATE THEM WITH OUR CORPSES!" thing.
  18. Okay, yeah, that makes more sense. Just a sec, got to work this out. If I put .6 million into the citidel for 30 years then it'll be finished. Okay, I worked it all out now. ... Sounds like somebody got slaughtered. Never charge a castle. Then again, only a bad general would resort to a seige.
  19. EDIT Disregard, forgot the 5 year period thingy.
  20. I prefer medieval. It takes the focus off of technology and onto being a good strategist and tactician. And it means that the default tactic isn't to just nuke things from the other side of the world while you cackle menacingly and stroke your goatee.
  21. Underestimating an opponent is never a good idea though. It dulls the tactical mind.
  22. Eh, I think letting us expand too far outwards would kind of ruin it. We would get satisfied with large chunks of Asia, America and Africa and stop trying to kill each other. I don't want gunpowder for weapons nor have any intention of using it. I just want it to help mining.
  23. "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." -Sun Tzu You should keep that in mind Nex.
  24. Most of my budget is consumed by cutting a city into a mountainside, which is going to take around 20 years. Still, the million or so I have left is going to be stuck into mining and forging operations.
  25. I like this game so far. Doing a good job at moderating Retech.
