Another elf, Retech? Damn you, Tolkien.

Monster Hunter
I was unaware you could get shards from anything but mining  Congratulations though. I'm HR 17 now, but the urgent quest wont show up for some reason. I've done like 80% of the 1 and 2 star quests.

Pirates!
Please for the love of all that is good in the world add two opposing pirate factions to whatever you have now: the Blue Rogues and the Black Pirates. Skies of Arcadia was such a good game.

Pirates!
You guys misunderstand. I think Nex wants to start in the same location as Retech's character. Are we starting today, like, now?

Pirates!
Well I don't watch Dr. Who, so I wouldn't know. Pocket watches are waay cliche, but I used it anyway.

Dear god! It's YANA!!! Get that reference ICU? I do not know who or what Yana is... I based the cloak off of Gurren Lagann, which I recently finished watching. Great Anime, by the way. The final battle was basically a 5 foot man piloting a 6 foot tall mecha, which was piloting a 25 foot tall mecha, which was piloting a 200 foot tall mecha, which was piloting a 10 mile long mecha, which was piloting a 10000 mile long mecha, which was piloting a Ten Million light year tall mecha throwing Galaxies around like shuriken. Then it transformed into a 3 BILLION LIGHTYEAR TALL BEING MADE OF ENERGY. It's like the entire series is a parody. An awesome parody, nonetheless. I'm going offtopic, sorry about that.

Overconfident bordering on arrogant Mather. Not that I can say much myself, though.

Alastor Chroanos [hide= Backstory] To one side of the smoke filled, noisy room stands a man in a black hood. Although it isnt long before he realises that it is far too warm to be wearing a hood indoors, and takes it down, revealing black hair, reaching down to his shoulders. He is a tall, fairly slim man, wearing black, very baggy trousers, and no shirt. Covering his chest and back is a long, dark blue cloak, with a red lightning bolt insignia on the centre back of it, though it is partly obscured by the massive device strapped around him. It looks like a huge axe, but there are many levers on the handle and many strange parts attached to it. It doesnt seem like the sort of thing you would see around this area. There is a red gem in the centre of it, and a white gem just above that He was a man with a remarkably average life, at least, thats what it looks like on the surface. He always felt some need to gain more power, and always thought that there was some special fate that destiny had planned out for him, though that could have just been a messiah complex talking. He tried to quiet this voice in his head, telling himself that he could just have a regular, happy life, but the voice got louder and louder until he could hear nothing else. In but a moment, he made the decision to go to sea, where people from all walks of life can become great and powerful. He gave up his name and packed his things and left without a word, a finely crafted silver knife stabbed into his front door and the lights still left on. He donned the name Alastor, not because of any inherent meaning, but simply because it had a nice sound to it. He carries a pocket watch, but never opens it, and never reveals it in public. It may be symbolic, or maybe not, who can tell. He arrived in this port town about a week back, and has been staying at a local inn since then, but he is determined to go out to sea, one way or another. [/hide] Pretty meh backstory really. Kind of lame. Also, I'm using a switch axe from MH3, is that okay? It's pretty much a massive axe which can be converted into a massive sword by pulling some levers and switches. Edel, I think you're giving rather extreme examples. Players here tend to not go too far overboard with race options and magic, and at least it will be more interesting than just generic pirate RPG #865235

Some of us prefer magic in our fantasy environments. As Icu has already said, it will be hard to obtain and provide several disadvantages, and the Dungeoneering system means that it will not be overpowered, as given enough skill in say, marksmanship or swordfighting, you can be just as strong without it.

Pirates!
EDIT: Nah, I came up with something better anyway.

Pirates!
Inb4 EVERYONE plays Jack Sparrow. Speaking of that, they're making a fourth PotC movie. Hell yeah.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Hey Nex, how much exactly do you know about project scorpio? Just curious
-
Pirates!
I'm sensing some One Piece inspiration here. Still, I'll play, why the hell not. It is summer, after all. Backstory and stuff soon.

Ballista are inneffective against cavalry.

Ye Olde Hegemony
It was the least costly phyyric victory thus far, so you're welcome.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Go for it. My troops aren't really offensive combat based, so I can't really help. Also, Just a question, does anybody own Cordobra of whatever the giant crimson splat underneath Leon is called?
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
Righto. It's just an idea right now, I might not end up using it at all if I can find a better way.
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
A lot bigger. It's sort of a tower shield, and the curves are at the top and bottom. It's kind of unwieldly, but the only thing it's used for is the Testudo formation and it fills that role perfectly.
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
I fail to see how that would help though. The shields are curved, so that charging with a lance will just make you stumble and trip as the lance deflects upwards or down. That would then leave you exposed to the Naginatas, and they wouldn't even have to come out from behind the shield, since the naginata has such good reach. No idea Retech, but have you ever seen one of those pictures of ninjas strapped to a kite? I was thinking that sort of thing. No idea how it works in reality, but it might be plausible. Let me go check. EDIT: Wikipedia mentions something about it, however breiefly. "Kites have been used for military uses in the past for signaling, for delivery of munitions, and for observation, by lifting an observer above the field of battle, and by using kite aerial photography."

Ye Olde Hegemony
Aaah, was kind of wondering, thought you might have been trying to keep it a secret or something  I actually think this is a really fun game. I prefer this to regular Hegemony now.
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
True, true... Perhaps I could use massive kites with people strapped to them for Recon? I recall that tactic being used at one point or another. Would allow for a clear view of pretty much everything nearby, although it would also allow the enemy to see your location fairly plainly as well. What do you think, Retech? (They weren't Scythes Icu, he said Scythe-like)
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
Tactical defeat, but strategic victory, I'd say. Need to remember to do better recon next time, if I'd remembered to check where the seige weaponry was placed, I might just have won that. Maybe. Thanks for the battle report Retech, It's good. The Terrapins have proven their effectiveness against Cavalry, and will be put to very good use in the future, although I doubt the oil tactic will work again, so I'll need to come up with a new way to defend the flanks.

Hegemony Argument Thread
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/gens/planetname.html Some of them end up being pretty strange, but that's what I used before. It's good for star names too, as we aren't putting planets on the map.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Retech, there are two of those armies, one in Kiev, and one which is half the size in Terra. I figure I don't need as many troops in Terra since the highly mountainous terrain will heavily impede the Mongol forces. Nex, I'd just appreciate that you didn't spy on me, is all.
-
Ye Olde Hegemony
I'm going to spend 1 million on detecting Nex's spies and having them all kicked out. I would have them killed, but I don't really want any real enemies. I'd appreciate it if you didn't spy on my stuff Nex. Or I'll just do the same to you and then nobody wins. I know it's old, but they may still be here, and I'm just saying this for the record.
