Pirates!
"Please, my good man" says Alastor, handing the man a gold coin pre-emptivly. "I just came here from elsewhere, yes. Just looking around for anything interesting. Would you happen to know of anything going on around here?"

Pirates!
Alastor enters the tavern, heads straight to the bar, sits on a stool with a thud, and waits to be served. (Editing an action in a previous post isn't something I ever thought of doing. It makes it sort of confusing)

(Icu, you missed me out. There is a box at the bottom of the "Reply" page that has the last ten or so posts, use that, it really helps while moderating. And try to go from your last post upwards, it means that nobody is missed out.) "As I said, thank you for allowing me to pass, officer" says Alastor, as he walks through the gates. He places the axe back on his back, before stopping, placing his hand behind his head and looking around for a second. "What does a man have to do to get a drink around here?" he sighs, before looking around for some kind of tavern.

"Woahh, hey, I don't mean you any harm. This? This is a pan. For cooking... Er.. Huge fish. " Says Alastor, unstrapping the massive device. "And you probably aren't buying this, are you? Ah well" He says as he tries to nonchalently walk past them. "Ah well, good luck on your watch, officers, and I very much thank you for allowing me to pass"

Alastor, hearing the noise and seeing the lights, walks towards the town, placing a hand upon his axe when he approaches, in case of any hostility.

EU to ban construction of normal housing by 2020
Ahh, the young and naive, always thinking about the trees but ignoring the papers. Most people, including you I bet, won't be willing to waste thousands of CURRENT dollars to fix something that will save who knows how much FUTURE dollars. Not to mention those who simply can't afford it. I put that part in brackets because it was merely a sidenote, but, assuming I knew that I could make it through the period where I had a lack of money from spending those thousands of dollars, then yes, I would spend them to save more in the future. I wasn't really taking cost into account, but I accept that if people cannot afford it, then those people should not be forced to do it. By all means, it should be phased in over a long period, nobody should be ordered to do it right away, and I was simply assuming that was the general consensus, and thus I didn't mention initial cost to the general public.

"Too much rum again..." Alastor sits up, puzzled, looks around in a dazed sort of motion and notes the pathway. He gets up, straps his switch axe around his shoulder, and stumbles towards the path.

EU to ban construction of normal housing by 2020
I don't see the big deal. So they're making people's houses more efficient (Which, by the way, will also save them money in the long run)? To be honest, if "It doesn't look good" is the best reason anybody can think of to not have these changes made, then it is just selfish and stupid. No matter how vast the quantities of resources we have, there is no reason to waste them if we don't need to.

I figure Icu should be able to do the balancing pretty well.

Pirates!
I think your character is going to be balanced at the start, in all likelihood, so no incinerating people, no barehanded decapitations or such. It'd be kind of unfair if you had an extremely powerful character right from the beginning.

Monster Hunter
Ah, I haven't done the Great Baggi one, but that should be easy enough to solo anyway. I got my Uragaan killing time down to 7 minutes almost exactly. Monster Hunter : Not just a game, it's a form of art.

That looks like opinion being used as fact to me. A lot of the rest of us find magic to be a nice addition, and I think a swordfight is actually more fun with magic, but only in the minor variety. When major magic is included, I'm not really bothered either way. Magic gives people a chance to be creative in what they do and not "I swing my sword at the person" or some variation thereof. Some of us are okay with that, but some people aren't, and magic is there to cater for them. Again, you're quitting because something you don't like is present, even though you do not need to use it or interact with it (Hell, you could even kill magic users for fun if you hate magic that much), but don't you think going "I don't like magic, so I quit" is a little bit childish?

Pirates!
You're just using over the top examples to prove a point. Any particular reason you don't like magic?
-
Pirates!
I think you are overly biased against magic Edel. The dungeoneering format means that magic isn't overpowered, and it can (And probably will) kill you if you do it wrong (Get a bad roll). It just adds another facet to the setting. As long as it's balanced, I don't see why it can't be included. Not to mention that if you don't like it, you don't need to use it...

I assume everyone will be out to SMITE AND CLEAVE Mather for being undead AND for being a magic user. I look forward to watching that. Are we starting soon?

Hegemony Argument Thread
Aren't Carbon Planets made entirely of diamond after a certain distance down? Also, Cannonball planets and such. You can never have enough anomolies, they make the game more interesting. Mather, I don't really feel like remembering a dozen strings of random letters and numbers. i prefer proper names.

Popey gonna be maaaad.

Yeah, pretty much. After being annoyed by players doing certain things that give them an advantage, you kind of learn not to do those things as they are annoying to the moderator.

Pah, the only magic I would go for would be chronomancy, and that probably wont come around for ages, so I can do without it. Either that or some kind of pressure that can be exerted at will. In fact, I'd rather have that, but as I said, it would just be a bonus.
-
Pirates!
Eh, just leave Grim to it. I'm sure Icu will balance it accordingly.

Rocco, this is the point. It'll be interesting to see how he hides it.

Sooo... What you're saying is that for now at least, we have beaten the Mongols?
