  1. That's a viable strategy, yes, but what we need right now is tactics.
  2. Mmmhm, just read the rules and follow them to make 5 characters. I'll look over them and see if you did it right, and if not, I'll need you to tell me what you found confusing so I can fix it. We'll handle items and such later when everyone has their characters.
  3. No, no, if we ever get into close combat range, we've already lost. Too many troops would die closing the gap to make a dent in the forces. Plus, that gives them a clear opportunity to flank us, which would result in absolute slaughter. Not to mention the fact that they can simply fall back and continue shooting. Close combat is simply not an option unless you happen to have something which is immune to arrows. That said, if you really insist on close combat, tower shields and phalanxes would be a superior option, but only if you have a force behind the enemy waiting in ambush or have them backed into a corner (Which is in itself a bad idea, due to the whole "Hang a man off the volcanoes edge, and you will learn who that man truly is" angle), since they would simply kite you otherwise. This is not something that can really be solved by having superior units, this is something which needs to be solved by outmaneuvering the enemy. I'll propose my solution later tonight, in the meantime, I'll try to think up some backup tactics.
  4. Not in the slightest.
  5. I believe I may have a short term solution, though it means I have to reveal my unique unit, which I am loathe to do so.
  6. Send diplomats to meet the tribes immediately. If we can't get them to come to our side, we can at least stop them going to theirs. All cities are hoarding supplies in case of a seige.
  7. Thanks Earth, you did a great job, although there are some errors (The ones I explained in the PM) And to clarify to everyone else, you only use the Serenes forest table to find Constitution and Movement speed. The other stats are all in the little list below that link. You basically roll for stat points, divide them between the unit's stats, then add the stats from the list.
  8. Awesome, can you post them or Pm them to me so I can look over them please?
  9. Sorry, try putting it in a word document and shrinking it.
  10. Yeah, most male and female stats differ between classes. Sages, for instance. Females get a higher mag, but males get higher skill.
  11. The one from Sacred Stones or the one from Radiant Dawn? Because the one from Sacred Stones was a total douche and then he got killed in a hit by the monster of an assassin that Colm becomes.
  12. Nah, no classes have any skills yet, except pirates and pegasus/wyvern knights. Pirates have waterwalking, the other two have flying. EDIT: New character card is on the first post now.
  13. Whoops, that character card doesn't have critical rate on it, my bad. Just a sec.
  14. Nah, Lords get 1d10+25 to put into their stats, instead of the 1d10+20 that other units get, on account of them not having any base stats.
  15. Okay Earth, what do you need help with? Have you already generated stats and distributed growth rates?
  16. Four other units, and then just follow the character generation rules to get stats and such. Unless you've already done that, in which case, you just need the four other units. EDIT: I made a character card template for you guys. You don't need to use it, but you can if you want to. [hide=Character card] [/hide] Ignore any sections which aren't listed in the rules in the OP for now. In the skills section, put which weapon the unit can use, and if you have a pirate, put waterwalking in its skillbox as well. I'll get onto items when the rest is done, so hang tight.
  17. Hector is one of the best characters, I have to agree.
  18. It's pretty easy, as long as you know multiplication, division, addition and subtraction you should be able to work it out. To clarify, you will need to make 5 characters. Only one can, and must, be a lord. Other than that, you can pick whichever classes you want. Hell, you can have four shamans and a lord if you want.
  19. Not per se, no, but it may help. You can read those combat rules online on pdfcast, but it would be easier if you downloaded it. Again though, not required.
  20. Ah yeah, since it's fire emblem, you'll need to make 5 characters. One of them must be a lord, no others can be a lord after that. Basically, one lord, 4 other classes. And I think you'll find that the rules are nigh-unabusable without direct assistance from the Random Number Gods :P
  21. By all means do so, as long as it isn't things like rerolling dice when generating stats, then go for it.
  22. Erm... Nex, Scorpio was the project I was trying to keep incredibly secret. As in "Kill anybody who isn't wearing a blindfold and earmuffs upon entering the room it's being made in" and "The engineers sleep inside the room".
  23. Okay, basically, a little while ago I thought how easy to make and fun to play a Fire Emblem tabletop game would be, so I suggested it on /tg/ and I got into contact with a couple of other people who felt the same way, and we started work on a tabletop game based entirely around fire emblem. The reason I'm telling you guys this is that we are in need of playtesters to make sure the skeletal system we have right now is working. It would entail reading some 5 pages of rules and keeping them around for reference, creating some characters and then playing a test game or two to check the balancing. As previously stated, the system right now is pretty bare-bones, and doesn't contain any skill rules and things like that. It will be played on Maptool, though the system is designed to work on the same style board as a D&D game, so that is fairly obvious. The combat rules can be found here: http://pdfcast.org/pdf/fire-emblem-tabletop-combat-rules And the chargen rules have not been written up properly yet, so I will simply put them in hide tags below. [hide=Character Generation Rules] The stats are as follows: HP Strength *or* Magic (Which one it is depends on class, but logic should state that a sword user is not going to have a magic stat.) Skill Speed Defense Resistance Each character gets 1d10+20 points to put into these stats, along with their classes base stats, which are displayed below. Each point placed into the HP stat gives you an additional 2 HP. There are two other stats, constitution and movement. during initial stat distributing, each class starts with a base con value, that can be added at cost, or subtracted from for extra points elsewhere. Movement cannot be altered. for con, we haven't really crunched much yet, just using this chart for initial con values, so far so good. http://www.serenesforest.net/fe7/class_base.htm Afterwards, you must distribute growth values. Each unit gets 300% total growth. Upon levelling up, you must roll 1d100 for each stat, and if you get a result under that stats growth value, you get an additional point in that stat. The 300% must be divided into each stat, but it must always be a multiple of 5. Lords get 1d10 +25, because they have no base bonuses, thye also get to distribute 320% for their stat growths, instead of the 300% that everyone else gets. class list for bonuses is as follows - (cavs and air units get only +5 for initial bonuses to make up for cost of extra movement.) in order of hp , str/mag, skl, spd, def, res. no class has a base bonus for luck. Cavalier: +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +0 Knight: +2 +2 +1 +0 +3 +0 Mage: +1 +1 +1 +2 +0 +2 Shaman: +1 +2 +1 +0 +1 +2 Fighter: +3 +2 +1 +1 +0 +0 Pirate: +2 +3 +0 +2 +0 +0 - Thief: +1 +0 +2 +3 +0 +1 Mercenary: +2 +1 +1 +1 +2 +0 Myrmidon: +1 +0 +3 +2 +0 +1 Archer: +1 +2 +2 +2 +0 +0 Wyvern Rider: +2 +1 +1 +0 +1 +0 Pegasus Knight: +0 +0 +2 +2 +0 +1 Priest/Cleric: +1 +1 +1 +2 +0 +2 Monk: +1 +2 +1 +1 +0 +2 Troubadour: +1 +0 +1 +2 +0 +1 [/hide] And here is the draft of the character card. We'll get to items when people have created their characters. [hide=Character Card] [/hide] If anybody needs further clarification, please do not hesitate to ask. EDIT: You will need to make 5 or more characters, though I recommend not making more than 5 for now, since it will basically just waste your time. So, any volunteers?
  24. So wait, does he know about tech and such or is it just troop numbers and movement? Because the tech I'm working on right now is being made by just a few master engineers in a single room. I don't think spying would work.
