Ye Olde Hegemony
In that case, I gather people already paid to build, and set them to work creating castles all around my country. No. It would hurt your economy and infrastructure. I'm essentially doing the same thing, carving a citidel into a mountain, and I'm spending 40 million on it. I'm not sitting back while you get it for free.

So whats to stop one of my Earthbreakers diverting a nearby river or lake into this giant hole? That said, I would really hope your people were smart enough to build it well above any nearby water levels...

I love that style of trenchcoat. The one with the mantle kind of thing around the shoulders. I have one in real life, but it isn't red.

Ye Olde Hegemony
So It's LARP in disguise.

Ye Olde Hegemony
It's role playing because you are playing the role of a person from medieval times...

Yeah, pretty much. Vaan and Penelo were fairly boring, but they managed to make up for it by putting the likes of Balthier and Cid in there.

The Back Room
1. Because I felt like it. It was pretty meh strengthwise. Could overpower you, but not by much. 2. Made it up as I went along. Pretty much everything was made up as I went along. There wasn't even a HP system, I just basically thought "Hmm... They've done enough damage now" and announced that it was dead.

You guys have no taste in Webcomics. http://www.penny-arcade.com/ http://www.xkcd.com/ http://www.viruscomix.com/subnormality.html http://www.nuklearpower.com/2001/03/02/episode-001-were-going-where/ http://boxerhockey.fireball20xl.com/ http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=612 http://drmcninja.com/ http://darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0001.html http://dresdencodak.com/ http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/2010/05/03/05032010/ Some of those have already finished, but are still worth rereading. May be some explicit content, but none that I am immediatly aware of. And LFG is good too. And The Meek deserves a special mention. It's fairly new. I didn't post a link because the first half of the comic has been slightly explicit, too much to post here, but not enough that it's bad in any kind of major way.

My great grandmother died
My great grandmother died a few years ago too. She was 102. I'd say that's a pretty long and fulfilling life. And if we're going onto the subject of nanobots, my greatest wish is immortality, so roll on science.

What is? The SCA is a worldwide reenactment organization, little RPing involved. It's mostly dedicated to honing and honouring century-old skills and concepts. The only thing that could count as RPing is when the people give themselves new names and take on a specific history, location, and time period. For some reason, the persona creation aspect makes me think of Fahrenheit 451. Whichever way you look at it. it is pretty much LARP. Calling it anything else means you're in denial.

The social structure is based around how long a given individual has been around. The only way to gain a rank is for a rank above you to be killed, and since it's semi-hivemind (The upper echelons can see the thoughts of anything below them, and can project some of their own thoughts into the lower echelons mind (Commands and such), but not the other way around.

LARP? It's like a combination of D&D and paintball. Kinda. If you squint.

I liked the story in 12. Wasn't really too generic, although it does fit the "Defeath the emperor" criteria. At least the characters were mostly interesting, and they featured a lot of setting development in the game.

I hate that thing. I always make sure to get Guard Up while I fight it now, so I can just block it if the need arises.

Hegemony Argument Thread
GRIMDARK MODE: ACTIVATE Race: Minostyx [hide=Description]On a tormented world, bathed in ultraviolet radiation and x-rays from their star, the ground breaking and shattering, the molten heart spilling onto the surface, igniting parts of the atmosphere and ravaging the landscape, life somehow developed. At first a microbe, somehow surviving, despite its bleak and apocalyptic homeworld, somehow avoiding its mother, trying to destroy it at every turn. It grew into a creature. The creature struggled on, growing and growing as its mother planet failed to deny it existence. It eventually, in spite of all odds, developed into a fully functional and intelligent life form, but its life was short, so very, very short. It had much more to worry about, like its psychotic Mother trying at every corner, at every milestone to annihilate it utterly. But the planets attempts failed, it grew, it expanded, it began to look to the heavens. It pierced the hazy fog which shielded the planet, and it hated what it saw. It now understood why its Mother was so angry. It saw millions of worlds, the same shape and composition as their own world, but these were not cruel, they were not hateful and destructive, and they were peaceful. They saw these worlds, and they grew jealous. They finally discovered why their homeworld treated them with such disdain, and they understood it entirely. Every attempt that had been made to destroy the species had only made it stronger. Every single test they had been put through made them more resistant, resilient, and intelligent. They directed their hatred towards the stars and the heavens. They peered upon the distant worlds, finding diverse creatures where their homeworld only contained ash and sulphur. Every discovery magnified their hatred tenfold, and the moment they found that all these species live hundreds of times longer than they, the race as a whole despaired. But all was not lost, their despair became determination, as they developed bodies of cold metal, and hearts of yet colder ice, increasing their lifespan thousands of times over at the cost of whatever compassion they may have had. They made a vow to their Mother that they would carry out its wishes, it would take revenge for the cruel fate the universe had provided for them, and upon the planets dying day, they escaped. A single pod aimed for a very distant planet was launched from the surface, as the star they had danced around for millions of years obliterated their Mother in the divine hellfire of creation. They saw that their father star as well, was hateful. They set their course and then went into their millenia long sleep. A million years of life, contained within a single pod, and it was so very, very hateful. [/hide] Technology – Mind uploading, artificial bodies Advantages – I’ll let Archi decide Disadvantages – See above Beliefs – Everything deserves to burn, for it is ungrateful of the splendour it has been Grimdark grimdark grimdark. I ended up with some kind of space emo misanthrope.

Well since psionics are included I'll just assume soft sci-fi.

Monster Hunter
I think we can safely say that the most annoying weapon is the longsword in the hands of anybody who isn't good at not hitting their own team though. I mean, at least the upswing knocks people out of the way.

Ye Olde Hegemony
It was a trap. They were to be placed in the direction that the enemy was charging towards, and I altered that plan anyway, taking the emphasis away from that part. Now it's sort of like a "If they do, cool, if they don't, no big deal" part of the tactics.

The Back Room
My vision turns purple for about 5 minutes after I get up from a sofa. But there's a delay of like 10 minutes in between I can't run for crap. I tire out way too easily, but I am above average strengthwise, though not by much. I'm pretty tall with a wide build. Like 6"4' or so.

Egypt will probably just cut and run. Basically, the mongols will probably come for you eventually, and there wont be any support from us.

Eh, fair enough. I'll trust Retech to limit it if it seems like it's too powerful, but really, a steam cannon isn't something you can overpower.

Monster Hunter
You know whats annoying? People who upswing a lot. I was hunting Rathian in the flooded forest, it went to the cliff area. I charged it when it fell over, and then somebody upswung in my direction, and I went flying off the cliff. They killed it before I could get back. I want high level volcano mining for the charms more than anything. I got HR 17 now, so I'm nearly to the point where I can kill all the big monsters in multiplayer.
