  1. Here's my thinking, pretty roundabout :P The formula is just the same as yours at the bottom of your first post with a constant added to the level. For example, say c = 3, then it's like being on rapid or defensive gives a hidden +3 level bonus while accurate gives +6. ceil((level + c) * ((bonus * a) + B)) level = ranged level bonus = ranged strength bonus a = some constant that controls how much ranged strength bonus is worth b = some constant that controls how much ranged level is worth c = some constant that is the hidden bonus added to your range level My reasons for thinking it's like this are :- You can hit 1s and 2s at 0 range on rapid, meaning there is something that needs adding to your formula. If you look at the how many lvls you have the same max hit with iron darts, it goes 7 9 10 9. You only hit 1s for 7 lvls (counting lvl 0) compared to 9 or 10 lvls for other numbers. As though there are a few hidden lvls to begin with. Finally, your ags in castle wars is likely explained by this. This constant keeps pretty quiet most of the time, but when you have some massive modifier like with an ags spec in castle wars it's pretty noticable. edit: uuhh pretty frustrating trying to find the constants
  2. All those at 0 range are on rapid.. more data :) 6 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 1 7 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 2 15 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus): max = 2 16 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 3 25 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 3 26 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 4 34 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 4 35 range rapid iron darts (+3 bonus); max = 5 I know it'd be kinda wierd but ceil((level + c) * ((bonus * a) + B)) would work. Actually the more I think about it the more likely this seems. Level 1 would just be *too* sucky if it didn't get a little bit of hidden help. Assuming you can "hit a 0" then lvl one, with a max hit of ~0.1 would be really harsh. And I think it'd go a long way to fixing your ags problem. With lots of modifiers (bracelet*piety*spec = 1.845) that + c becomes a pretty significant thing.
  3. Sorry, a quick correction to one thing 99 range broad bolts pot + void; max hit = 37 (not 36) and one I remembered 99 range rune arrows + pot; max hit = 22 Feels like the calc very slightly underestimates at the moment. EDIT: 0 range broad bolts; max hit = 2 !!!! 0 range rune bolts; max hit = 2 0 range mith bolts; max hit = 2 0 range rune arrows; max hit = 1 Which kinda kills the current formula. Loads of ways to fix it but no idea which is the right way
  4. Looking good now, seems bang on for me. Little more data 95 range 100 bonus; max hit 26 96 range 100 bonus; max hit 27 and to show how fruity void is 99 range 100 bonus + pot; max hit = 31 99 range 100 bonus + pot + void; max hit = 36 Also incase you didn't know, diamond bolt special effect does increase dmg, not just accuracy. Melee one looks good as well, I'm just less sure what my max hits are at a given +bonus.
  5. With 99 range and broad bolts I hit 27 nat and 31 potted. Your formula seems to over estimate by a fair bit at the moment. Seems range lvl is a bit more important and ranged strength bonus a bit less? Looks like all you need to do is play with the constants a bit more. Also, be wary of void. It sure as hell seems to add more than 10%.
  6. 1. Put a few special attacks on rune weapons. 2. Crossbow bolts upto mith or addy + whatever xbow that needs. 3. Buff f2p magic. Few new spells maybe. 4. Rings. 5. A new f2p dungon, with some "high" lvl baddies, with some nice(ish) drops. Something round lvl 150. Together these make f2p so much cooler for very little content. 6. If you've ever been a member you get a full size member bank forever. Because it's [cabbage] and basically stops someone going back to f2p from p2p.
  7. No. I was always pretty lucky in rs, nice drops (2x guthan's helm and verac's flail on the day barrows came out, dragon 2h on the day it came out, 2x dragon med in 3 kills on classic), good pks, lucky on the stakes that mattered and frankly I don't think I deserved it. :P
  8. LOL at TET getting all work up that jagex are moving in on their patch. People don't go to your events to fuel your ego, though it really sounds like that's why you do them ;/ Jagex interacting with the players is a great thing. It's what got lost with rs2. One of the best things about classic was you would see J mods about on a pretty regular basis, including Paul and Andrew, and you really got the impression they were not some distant mysterious force. You felt an update happened because they played the game and thought, 'hey, this'd be cool', and I think rs2 has lost that. F2P does need a bit of work. I've been playing very casually lately and stopped p2p, and I can say f2p does feel very slow and boring when it doesn't need to be. For example, drop a few specials onto rune weapons and the yew short, add a few dungons, make rings f2p and a few other little things and you make f2p a much much better game. Again, this guy really sounds like he knows what he's upto.
  9. Amazing, just logged onto rs for the first time in ages, I'm really impressed! They should have made ME CEO though, I could of told them that years ago.
  10. I *think* is was duke nukem for pc. The first one that is, waaaay before duke 3d :P Heretic was the first shooting game I really played, then doom (wrong way round I know), then hexen 2. And while hexen 1 sucks [wagon], hexen 2 was an immense game. Also leminings somewhere in there, and descent. Also a really old platformer called gods.
  11. I'd like to see armours that do some different things, not just more defence. beserker is one great example - low def high str bonus. Some sort of Kensai armour - low def high slash bonus. Fury armour - average def, increases attack speed slightly. Nether armour - good mage armour, acts as all elemental runes. Needs recharging with the runes (so your not getting free casts, just saving a load of space). Ranger power armour - ranger armour with less range att bonus but which also adds to range damage done. Omega armour - Not sure if this is just silly..but maybe something that's basically the stats of ahrims karils and torags rolled into one. Make it a VERY HARD to get though. Certainly make rs a bit more interesting if things like this were added.
  12. I've just started getting into defender, certainly gets easier at lvl 3+. It's important you get speedy updates from healers, especially at start. Rush the trap as fast as you can and put a few bait there in the 3x3 grid. Then drop some more as you run for the wood + hammer. Then just keep dropping stuff to keep them occupied, make sure there's plenty of food on the ground. Best if it's the right one but better any food than no food. I think my method needs a bit of tweaking but I just did a run at lvl 3/4 defender with a healer who kept me updated pretty well and only let 1 runner though, on wave 9. Also as far as i understand it, as long as it's the right food when you drop it, they will chomp away happily. Never noticed that not be the case. Also no penalties on queen so doesn't matter letting runners past. Just make sure you have the right food on the trap and you keep it fixed, there's less need to hold them up by dropping junk.
  13. Defender is definitely the hardest. Attacker is fairly easy but it does punish mistakes severely. Playing it well and making no mistakes is the challenge.
  14. General rules A high lvl team in general makes things much easier. I'd steer clear of anyone under 70 as at the later waves they can take a beating, especially vs queen. Not saying it's impossible with lower lvls, just easier without. Also in general higher lvls have played rs a bit more and are just plain better at it. Patience. Can be annoying getting a team sorted to begin with but worth the time to get a good one. Also don't snap at people if they make a mistake in a game, doesn't benefit anyone. If you do end up with a truly hopeless team then just politely leave. 1/2 att ----> Only have 2 attackers if they are low level, otherwise it's a waste. 1/2 def ----> The best option if you have a good team, though finding 2 defenders is a pain. 1 collector 1/2 healer ----> The usual best mix. As healer's have two jobs to do it allows one to concentrate on healing and and other on poisoning. Attacker This is easily the most stat-dependant role. I'd suggest 100+ combat for this ideally, 90+ as a must. Barrow armour is also a plus though far from essential. Mistakes are penalised HEAVILY as an attacker. Any more than one mistake and its -1 point per mistake. To make sure you do not use the wrong attack, stop attacking when it's about to change. When it changes, quickly update the collector, (hopefully) receive a speedy update from him and get back to killing. With a high lvl attacker you can take your time and still not be the last to finish. Best to take a bit longer and make no mistakes than try and race though and get half a dozen. When your done, make sure you keep calling eggs quickly, they are needed to pick off runners. Havn't played other classes enough to say much about them.
  15. It wasn't a rumour. Really. One day prayer drained so fast, the next day it drained faster. Some people miss a lot if jagex don't spell it out for you on main page. It makes sense them dropping them a bit if there's going to be more prayer stuff. Edit checking old videos looks like I'm wrong oh well. I will stick to saying at least the day after they changed the prayer menu it was faster
  16. They increased prayer drain rates not too long ago so your not really getting anything new..
  17. What you need to do then is find a money making guide.
  18. tip.it has a guide I'm sure with a picture of a completed puzzle, looking at that should help. Also if your having problems even with the picture, try doing it a row at a time until you get to the last two rows. Then do the box of 4 tiles in the bottom left and finally do the 3*2 rectange that's left.
  19. There is no skill total you should have at a certain lvl Some people perfer combat skills, some prefer skilling, some like both. Upto you entirely. I only just reached 1500 total at 112 combat because I really am not a fan of some skills. Do what you want on rs, not what you feel you should 8-)
  20. Grr I had a pic of onyx but comp seems to have eaten it. Anyway max I got with them was 27
  21. yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!
  22. 22 is used for staking now
  23. You could maybe do a combat skill based on martial arts and such. Has abilitys like invisibilty and backstab maybe but weak armour (or no armour). Heh that'd be pretty cool actually :) To train it...maybe somewhat like the mission system is anarchy online. You go to a master, they say "Go to ###### and obtain x/kill y/poison z/ect". You add a bunch of small dungons all over rs that are instanced, only you go in and only when you have a mission in that dungon. Now the dungons don't really have to be the same each time to keep things interesting, it'd be great if they were generated (or just a lot of them so as to be no difference). So maybe I catch a boat to some ninja master, he says "kill the hobgoblin warlord Irogg. He was last seen around taverly, perhaps he has a base around there" So you go to taverly, find your dungon, kill Irogg and run back to the martial arts master and get some martial arts xp. NOW here's the clever bit I was thinking. Lots of different masters, ninja masters, samuari masters, kung-fu masters, ect ect. Now when you take missions from one master, you get xp but you also get points to unlock secret arts that only that master can teach. So you take a load of "kill" tasks and after a while he will train you in improved backstab techniques or something like that. If you do a lot of "steal" tasks then perhaps the master will teach you invisibility after a while. So the idea is that the skill would need a lot of unlocking as well as getting enough xp. Sounds fun :)
  24. Runevillage had some pretty big drop parties on rsc that used to make a mess of the world and break the chat. But yeah, definately a good place to go to get a free headache.
  25. Keep it IMO. What it does is shows how active a person is, which is something I like to see. Also it allows you to respond better to a person by knowing if that post was their 1st or their 1000th. Both deserving of respect but seeing the post count lets you know the best way to express that.
