  1. Patience? Jagex has stated multiple times, over multiple years, that they have an end-all, beat all for bots. Why should we believe that this time is going to be any different? Maybe Jagex come up with some update that completely destroys bots. Or more likely seriously harms them. Let's hope so anyway <_< What bugs me is that people rant and rave about these stupid Jagex-doesn't-care-and-makes-money-from-bots. From all the evidence out there, they are good honest nerds (that occasionally do something dim) and I trust they are doing their best to fix my game :)
  2. Using my super duper powers of deduction and common sense, I can conclude the following :- 1. Bots are a problem 2. Jagex isn't stupid and is working on some *big* answer to bots. 3. This is taking significant time / resources. 4. Jagex would like to have some players left when they are done. So relax and be patient. Have some perspective. Imagine it from their perspective - would you want one of your volunteer mods bashing your game while you're doing everything you can to fix it? ^and to the post above makes a important point I think (along with a slight poo obsession) ; Any organisation that from the outside looks to be some singular monolithic entity seldom is.
  3. Is this wrong then? The chance of not getting a whip is 511/512, so the probability of not getting a whip 1500 times in a row is (511/512)^1500 = .0532... = 5.32% Storm is right; the method impressionist uses breaks down for low frequency events.
  4. Can someone explain why they are taking it for granted that ss > korasi's ? ss = 82 slash 82 str korasi's + defender = 89 slash 75 str (+ a little def) So ss might be very slightly better, but don't pretend it's some huge difference.
  5. That's what I thought as well when I tried melee vs magic myself (minus overloads and turmoil). They're so close I don't think it matters so much as all the other junk you do at barrows, like do I get KC / if so how much / what food to use / which brothers to pray on / are claws that good? I'm looking for that really smooth fast setup #-o
  6. Yes I get that void + turmoil + overloads + rapier is the fastest way. Who'd have guessed :-P However, actually killing the brothers doesn't take that much time anyway assuming any good method. What I want to know is what supplies to use. Pray vs what? Food vs what? Take guthan's? Bones to peaches? Is KC worth getting? If so how many?
  7. Well that's the crux of it isn't it? I guess I'll just have to try mixing it up a bit. I feel like the best method is not going to be banking after every chest though - it does take a while to run back. Edit; About dharok, I was kinda worried he was luring me into a trap and was going to destroy me when I wasn't paying attention. As for the fastest way, my stats are pretty similar to yours. How would you do barrows fast? Is barrage that much quicker than fire surge?
  8. 1.) Cool, makes me feel better. 2.) When I say without high herblore, I mean I have pretty much every other stat / item I could need. Is it better to use guthan's and heal up in the tunnels or just use food and bank more often?
  9. Question 1. I've been using SoL spec to tank dharok with no prayer. No one else seems to do this. Do they know something I don't? Question 2. What's the fastest way to do barrows without high herblore? EDIT: Yes I get that void + turmoil + overloads + rapier is the fastest way. However, actually killing the brothers doesn't take that much time anyway assuming any good method. What I want to know is what supplies to use. Pray vs what? Food vs what? Take guthan's? Bones to peaches? Is KC worth getting? If so how many?
  10. IMO the standout best way to train magic is to burst rock lobsters while using battle robes (from fist of guthix) and staff of light. You get tons of magic and constitution xp, as well as lots of charms - and the cost is much lower than you'd expect; I think something like ~2-3gp/magic xp, though I'm not certain on that. Otherwise, just suck it up and alch
  11. This one? http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Miscellania
  12. Try and get karil's. And a fury doesn't hurt either - it might make a better borrow than the godsword; mage def is really important. And yes, get that tortoise/80 range. You know, jad is pretty good range xp. Just sayin'
  13. As long as *you* are keeping your character logged in you're not afk. As for where to train, I think bandits are the best for really lazy almost afk training.
  14. The trick with jad is not to try and do everything at once. I always only do ONE THING inbetween his attacks. So before healers come I'm thinking something like this And when healers come use the same method, i.e. This way there's no multitasking at all, just one great big long shopping list. As for mundane tips, I'd suggest giving eagle eye a miss, if anything use the 10% one or nothing at all. Less prayer drain = less to worry about. Also, I suggest you kill jad with a 10/10 crystal longbow on rapid.
  15. I think you're being a bit quick to blame everything on not being maxed - sure you won't make quite as much, but not by such drastic amounts. Also, here's a thought, why not use the time you're stuck on a laggy connection to max out? Making money isn't the only thing to do.
  16. The main problem with pking is...pkers. Just doesn't seem to be any respect - out of any PVP game I have ever played, none come close to the bad manner you see in RS.
  17. Hey, firstly as to making money a bit faster; kill green dragons in the CHAOS TUNNELS. It's multi so you won't get every single dragon stolen as I suspect you are in wild. Glory to edgevil, pot up in the bank and you HAVE to be faster than the numbers you've suggested. Second, the value of your time on rs is a very complex question. It's a choice, not maths. Aeil touched on that - he CHOOSES to value time near his max gp/h. I would CHOOSE to value time much lower that. So it's upto you to decide what your time is worth.
  18. Is that really the best spot to kill them? Edge dungon, the chaos druid tower and the agility dungon all seem like better spots IMO. Everything else I couldn't agree with more, herbs are really nice money now for any levels and the macaw is really helpful.
  19. People are getting distracted over what the real problem was with this update. It wasn't that skills helped combat - they do already - but the brutal nature of a MASSIVE boost at high level herblore and nothing else. It was all or nothing, either you had 90 herb and hit 46 with barrage or you have less and you hit 33. That's not 'gives skillers an advantage', it's 'pkers need herblore'. In a few months, people with high herblore would be pkers. The whole skillers vs pkers is irrelevent, this update simply moved herblore from a skiller skill to a pker skill. And for good reason, a fair few pkers were unimpressed that they now needed to get 90 herb. Compare it to an update that makes an attack skillcape give you +40% woodcutting speed and you might see why pkers cried so much about it :)
  20. It's fine except the stupid 300 gp limit on pizza in the ge
  21. I don't think all the blame is on the players here. Come on, a 1vs1vs1vs1 last man standing is always mostly luck anyways. Just charge whoever you think you can kill easiest and go from there and don't worry about it.
  22. If an un-skulled player with auto retaliate on gets attacked by a bunch of people who attack all at the same time, there's a good chance they get skulled. Existed since rs2 I think, certainly from chaos elemental. Still exists as far as I'm aware.
  23. I'd strongly suggest rune xbow + broad bolts over iron knives. With knives you hit 10s, with broad bolts 25. And, xbow is much more accurate. Bone bolts are a complete no go. For melee armour, I like to have one set of high def barrows armour (ie torags or a mix of high def pieces) and a high attack set (eg fighter torso, bandos tassets, fremmenik helm). I seldom use a full barrow set though.
  24. uhh...drink brews :P I'm 99.9% sure the basic formula is ~(L+8)((R/638)+0.1). I noticed runehq seems to be doing the same thing on *very* similar lines..is there any point both of us doing the same thing?
  25. To get 0 range, just drink a lot of saradomin brews. Drink enough and your level will read 0/xx. My current thinking is that they don't use the ceiling function, just round up and down normally. Otherwise I just can't make stuff fit. But I think formula is *something* like Max = (L + c)(aR + B) * Modifiers Where :- L is level c is ~8 a is ~0.00157 R is range strength bonus b is ~0.1 Modifiers is pray spec void ect. This works as far as I can tell for everything except the ags special attack. With ags it's no where near. Is ags really 25%? It just doesn't seem to fit. I think void is even better than 17.5%, 20% seems to fit better. More tests at 0 range Max hit: 1 Level: 0/99 Style: Rapid Bonus: 55 (Bolt racks) Prayer: None Special: None Multiplier: None Max hit: 2 Level: 0/99 Style: Rapid Bonus: 60 (rune brutals) Prayer: None Special: None Multiplier: None Max hit: 2 Level: 0/99 Style: Rapid Bonus: 64 (Steel bolts) Prayer: None Special: None Multiplier: None
