Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
:ohnoes: I want to see a 60+ on fire someday! Cuppy, we have no choice but to play on stacked teams to avoid huggers and holders now if we want to see good scores. :(

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
: Can someone please post this on the GoP thread Vorltex put up in RSOF? Many thanks! <3 Quick find code: 15-16-269-59423698 "Pinata Sabre's Great Orb Project Wish List: 1.) A scrying/viewing orb to watch friends play. Please see how you made the Clan Wars viewing orb. 2.) A practice altar where no tokens are gained, created via instances like a clan wars match. 3.) The creation of an in-depth tutorial a la Fist of Guthix style. A short, re-watchable, one minute video of some experienced GoP players playing on air altar will go a long way to helping beginners. Note: a scrying orb can eliminate the need for this because we can just point interested newcomers to watch how we play. It can also get rid of #2 wish. 4.) The creation of actual teams being able to challenge each other a la Clan Wars style - for no tokens and simply honor, to avoid token abuse. 5.) Allow repelling the opponent team's orb to increase the activity bar even by at least half of what is gained from making barriers. This will allow the role of defenders some room to maneuver instead of fearing being kicked out from the round. 6.) A Jagex Mod to come spend time in the themed minigame worlds during peak hours and see how things are, even for just one game of GoP. I realize that Jagex's Runescape developers rarely take out what they put in the game or take a long time to consider revamping content. So although one can hope for a removal of the activity bar, please refine it instead of the crude, hamhanded thing it currently is now."

Most tokens I'll ever reach: Decided to start spending now. Before Jagex decides to go and nerf token rewards. :ohnoes:

There's a destroy wand option there too, but both that and the destroy barriers are both right-click options. So they don't really see it until much later.

Just a head's up that I've updated the attract wand guide. Tell me if merging images from the pathfinder with the tricks section works okay, and if I should delete those images from the pathfinder. :ohnoes:

The Ban on Minigame Clans?
It's alright if GOP 5050s are used as training grounds to instruct new players how to become better players to be able to compete in themed worlds, since the pitifully short tutorial is absolutely no good (i.e. the early to mid-days of Amayadawn's 5050 reign until it went into noobsville due to greedy newcomers) but that's not what's usually happening. Too many are too greedy and just leech off 5050s for easy tokens.

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
-.- That's because they probably don't know barriers can be broken. It's like how people don't know wands can be broken. Edit: :ohnoes: I stole the 100th post.

The guy with the green hat is wielding a wand, he glitched and can see the progress of his team through all the altars.

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
Don't try this unless you want to increase the chance of an account ban: No, he doesn't get any tokens, only essence. It's just like the teleport glitch. :ohnoes:

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
I had more success destroying barriers with 80 rc than 50, so I think it does matter. :? But luck is such a fickle thing. :ohnoes:

Longer range with higher runecrafting? Bzzt! False! Using my nubby account with 50 runecrafting, the distance was the same. Higher speed with higher runecrafting? False again, unfortunately.

Great Orb Project: The Attract Wand
:) Thanks for the pictures Sir. I'm planning on merging some of the pathfinder section images with the rest. I'll probably have it done in a couple of days. Edit: I have attempted the merge. I also put up some more intermediate tricks in the pathfinder section.

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
Nothing wrong with calling someone a "pro" in offense or defense. It's just that, to me, a "pro" of the minigame overall has to be able to do both. -cough Vorltex -cough- :wall: About that list, I think I should start by listing the active ones only. Too many inactive ones that I can't recall right unless I see their name pop up.
-
Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
How would you define "professionals"? Professionals, at least to me, are people who can attack well and defend well. They can alternate between the two roles as easily as we can score 50+. I wouldn't fall into this category since I can only play offense well. :ohnoes: Most of us would be under the "veteran" stripe.

The Ban on Minigame Clans?
In the case of GOP, if you're up against an organized team, nothing is stopping losing players from forming their own team and learning the skills to become as good as the opponent. I disagree. It is about the competition and the cooperation. Clan wars, Fist of Guthix, the duel arena, the Great Orb Project, all of these have the two qualities mentioned above. AFKing in a fixed game is freeloading of the worst order. It cannot be separated, because it's entangled with the issue. I know this because I have dropped in on several 5050 games to see if I can find any potential good players and far too many score once and that's it as I've mentioned. Easy tokens, easy money. Speak ill of 5050 GOP crashers in any way you want. As if that'll stop it from happening.

The Ban on Minigame Clans?
I side with Ravian. Oh, and by the way, there aren't many visible complaints against 5050 because those who are against it are busy doing something about it, such as organized crashes that follow 5050 clans into other worlds running them down. And fixed GOP does allow for freeloaders. I've seen more players than I can count just push one orb in and then afk the rest of the round. At the rate 5050 GOP games are growing, tied games might end up winning nothing but 60 tokens for each side, a drastic measure neither those who are for or against fixed GOP want to see. And I can see this happening. After all, Jagex implemented trade limits. :| This is certainly true. But then again Jagex has a lot on their plate, they take a while to fix things. GOP is low on their priority list. I still remember when whoever won air won the mind altar automatically.

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
If I'm to list the roster, it'll be only guild regulars, active or inactive/retired, veterans and professionals. And that includes you, Pie! That would be easy enough to do if everyone didn't lack so much confidence. I've seen an entire team - four players, fourrrrr players! - break because certain people were on the other team that they were sure would defeat them or give them a run for their munny. :wall: They left one poor fruity clueless about what was going on. Um, what else can I say? Their morale was destroyed. #-o

The Ban on Minigame Clans?
While your statements may be true for the minigames those clans are based on, I'm afraid this isn't the case with the Great Orb Project. So-called "fair" wins and "fair" gameplay as you appear to define it - otherwise known as 5050 or 100/0, the nomenclature for GOP fixed games - leeches the competition out of the minigame and makes it utterly boring. It makes it no different than grinding a skill. And cooperative? Mature? Helpful? :wall: Not necessarily. A lot of 5050 people don't tend to stick together, they just play a couple of games then leave, sort of like an eat-and-run on a restaurant. Good of you to use the word "some." From my perspective, I can't call fixed games as a better option. I would fall somewhere near the third point, with the exception that I do work together with my friends. I'll say this, since GOP was used as an example: the minigame isn't at all more enjoyable being fixed. It's like acquiring an invincibility cheat code. Fun for a short time, but it wears off into boredom. I will agree with you that the minigame has its problems. Attempting to lead anyone in a GOP team put together for the first time is very much like herding cats. You'll get spat at, scratched at, and generally abused. It gets worse especially if you don't know how to play very well and still try to lead. A number of the teams I've faced are just thrown in with no idea how to play or work together since it's often their first time meeting each other on the same team! Something must be done about that. Perhaps a fixed game of GOP will allow a ragtag gang of recruited people to learn to work together and form the beginnings of a well-oiled team, but that isn't what a bunch of them play it for, many play for the easy tokens which means easy money. This is why a lot of 5050 fixed game threads in the rsof forums concerning GOP get locked. It definitely isn't in the competitive spirit of the minigame. I will say that 5050s are in the cooperative spirit of the minigame, just not the way cooperation was intended.

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
It's possible, they just have to give me a head's up and I'll scribble their name in. : And Sir, they're not so petty and I don't believe they're drama queens to take offense at having their names left out. After all they just have to tell me. I won't mention their skill level - and I don't mean runecrafting level. The real problem is trying to remember all 200+ of them. :ohnoes: And I'll be limited to a roster of those who have been to w61, and more than a handful of them have never visited the clan chat. Still okay?

You want a roster of the GoP players? :ohnoes:
