Instead of teaching youngsters about the responsibilities both emotionally and morally that come about from entering into a sexual relationship, sex education generally focuses on the physical aspect of sex; STDs, the Reproductive Systems and the act itself. Something that is IMO the most important activity that one can engage in reduced to diagrams on a piece of paper and scare tactics from teachers too scared (or unwilling) to bring matters of faith and/or spirituality into the discussion for fear of the political correctness brigade. In conjunction with this, people of all ages are subjected to a huge amount of sexual images from the media and television. Programs objectifying either gender and trivialising sex (Sex and the City for example) have further bridged the gap of understanding of alot of the younger generations. This has seen a massive increase in recent years and only looks like getting worse. Sexual education needs a more holistic approach, evidence of this is shown in the Netherlands where teen pregnancy rates are one (if not the) lowest in Europe. They have a very liberal attitude towards sex but their sexual education programs are forward thinking and far more engaging than those in England. When people are better informed and have a more mature attitude towards sex, things like this tend to happen less. Statistical evidence for this can easily be found online, you need not take my word for it. Telling someone they shouldn't have sex and then giving them free condoms won't change their attitude towards the act itself. The money spent subsidising all those free condoms is better spent elsewhere. Education. +1. :thumbup: +1

Is it really fair to call what Lincoln did tyranny? Agreed, he definetely took away a lot of rights and im sure in a few ways violated the constituion, but its not as if it was a mad power grab he was trying to help the country. I recall he declared martial law in a lot of areas and took away habeus corpus, but did Lincoln do anything beyond that to suggest tyrannical acts that I am forgetting? Also, the limit on freedom of speech is a litter stricter during an in country way(unlike Iraq) so was Lincoln even doing anything unusual. Honestly, I dont have a great history background other then a college level american history class, so I concede your greater knowledge surrounding this. edit--my car comment was directed at someone saying guns werent safe, I agree a car isnt a weapon. Let me rephrase that to clarify my point. If you were an infinitely powerful and infinitely holy being as the bible says god is, would you allow the devil to live knowing he would cause suffering? If I knew I was going to be shot tomorrow if I went to mcdonalds I sure wouldnt go, so what possible reason is there for any diving being to allow suffering if he can stop it without harming free will. In eden, there was no sin until god allowed the devil to interfere and "corrupt" eve. Adam and Eve were more then happy with their situation and would not have sinned without that influence. They certainly had free will, god allowing the devil to continue on is therefore the cause of all human suffering.

So, god is just going to kill the devil when he gets around to it? I mean he flooded the whole earth after but he cant take out just one angel at the chance of eliminating every single bit of human suffering on this planet? Sure, maybe someone would have sinned eventually but then again maybe not. If we have free will, why did god allow the devil to interfere with that?

But if God is the creator of all, that means he created Satan and created the potential for humankind to be 'corrupted'. Yeah technically, but only because he gave choice. And satan chose to war with God, get thrown out, and then eventually corrupt humankind. why didnt god kill satan then? He made the earth hoping humans would be perfect, so why not allow us free will and just destroy any angels that go renegade? Assuming genesis is accurate for the sake of argument, is it not fair to say humanity would have never sinned had god not let the devil live?

oddly, he hit on an interesting point even if his opinion seems archaic. In some small way interracial marriage and gay marriage are similair. Wait, Im not saying they are the same my point is that interracial marriage is slightly unusual, perfectly fine in no way objectionable, but slightly unusual.

Just thought I would add gun control isnt a bad idea in a country that doesnt have many guns. Im thinking along the lines of post ww2 japan and Im sure some european countries. If you keep weapons from getting into a country(in large numbers) it will have some effect in preventing deaths from crimes(effect on crime rate is debatable). The US however, has an insane amount of firearms for both private and less legitimate use. Regulation on guns that have no private use is a good thing to have, Im not saying dont let people fire a chain gun at a range just saying no machine gun for 200$ at walmart. The problem with any attempt at a gun ban is that it is going to blow up in the countries face, a lot of cops/militia are going to die if you try to round up the guns, and it is going to cost millions(billions) of dollars to organize that large scale of an operation.

Why? I forget if the stimulus is officially 1 trillion or 800 something billion, lets just say 800 billion for the sake of discussion. The Us is in effect printing 800 billion dollars for an 800 billion dollar spending project/stimulus. Printing 800 billion new bills has a way of causing inflation, granted with the whole world in economic trouble it wont be as bad of inflation. The US was supposed to stop all analog broadcast tomorrow I believe, when Obama got into office he had it delayed to give Americans more time to buy convertor boxes. So after spending a whole year advertising when it would switch they changed the date. A good amount of channels are still switching tomorrow to avoid confusion

cars arent 100% safe, we still allow people to drive them. The main point is noone(excluding maybe a true psychopath) has ever gone "dude I totally have a gun its telling me to kill you", any gun crime would have been commited with a knife or heavy rock or whatever if the guns were illegal.

Well, you said assassinating the president elect would get you prosecuted because of his potential which is grossly innacurate. My problem is that you are setting an absolute statement, if any human cell cannot be killed then almost any action is murder. Scraping your knee is manslaughter etc. Law is based off of the common morality not whatever absolute unyielding view you choose to take. Believing life believes at conception is fine, but in effect putting such strict restrictions is going to drive the abortion industry underground and lead to more deaths. As much as I despise the fact that abortion does occur, trying to just ban it is not going to help anyone.
