  1. Hmm after actually reading this I am kind of surprised kudos to them on keeping the child I have my questions about not giving it up for adoptions but since I dont know them its not my business to say(after all it will be like getting a new sibling for the 13 year old at least). Hopefully everything this turns out all right, shame to see this happening though. edit-- how is an adoption possibly worse?
  2. Not only is it a much more awesome way to die but you also can't feel death crawling onto you. Yep. You can look the shooter in the eye and it is something he will remember for the rest of his life. You go out with a since of honor by firing squad, compared to a slow, painful death that renders you useless, would rather at least stand on my two feet instead of being strapped down in a van injected and tossed out after i died. agreed, besides Id hate to waste taxpayer money on chemicals(for want of a better term) to kill me. agreed, my favorite is when people in america protest lethal injection as being cruel(not opposing death penalty just injection) on the basis that they may feel pain. I mean gunshot is at most like 2 second of pain if its through the head or heart, costs less then one dollar, and allows for organ donation and (possibly) organ donation. Now if we could get nitrogen asphyxiation to work out that would probably be the best method IMO
  3. [hide=] You are a pathetic disgrace if I may say so. To stop shooting the basketball, to stop playing to your full capacity, and to show mercy to another team is a sign of piss poor sportsmanship in my books. To play underneath their level is a slap in the losing team's face, and just basically mocking the fact that the suck. If I was on a losing end of a game, I would NEVER want my opponents to let up. Because at the point in which they start giving any mercy, then any scores my team puts up doesn't amount to squat. Good sportsmanship is to play the game from tip off to the last buzzer with pride, dignity and giving it 100% all the way through. Piss poor sportsmanship is the other team or anyone else expecting the victors to lay off just because they are winning. [/hide] you wouldnt say that if you were losing a game 100-0. I already had this argument earlier on this thread, its one thing to just stop shooting and mess with the team, the ethics of that is debateable. It is in the spirit of competition to put in your worst players and have them play their best game so the other team doesnt feel like they are being crushed for an hour.
  4. were talking about someone you only know online if you actually play rs with your gf/bf its just nerdy love
  5. [hide=] I'm a pretty big liberal on most issues, including abortion. I don't however support this act, and think it's the wrong way to go about it. Your reasons however, are not the best. The forcing of relgious hospitals to shut down is a big no no, and that is a valid point though. You discuss how it doesn't give punishment to kids and doesn't give them an incentive to not have sex. This is..no. Just no. First off, take a look at teen pregnancy rates. They are extraordinarily high, and this is WITH your Isn't it then fair to say that laws that ban abortion are actually in fact poor incentives to teens? I mean who's to say if the rates would rise (i guess they wouldn't of course with free abortion, but say hypothetically FOCA passes, all these teens go and do their business and then FOCA is repealed) if FOCA was passed? Hard to say. But it's without doubt that these things that you talked about that ban abortion do NOT serve as a factor that makes kids necessarily think twice about sex. And in fact, your punishment analogy loses strength, since none of the kids actually feel threatened by the consequences of their actions. Second, i'm going to play devil's advocate and take the opposing viewpoint. Say you aren't allowed abortions, like many states require. What happens when you do get pregnant, like 75 out of 1000 teens anually do? You have to keep your child, and raise it. You have to drop out of school and dedicate your life to raising the child, thus depriving you of an educated and successful life. You talk about punishments though: this is what you get. Oh please. I can understand wanting to punish the mother maybe (though the father goes unpunished. Those who use this argument are inherently sexist (whether they actually are or not) by saying the woman should be punished and leave out the reprecussions for the man.). That's still a tricky argument, since about half of teenagers have had sex before. It's quite commonplace really. It's not quite, but almost like saying after a guy gets hit while he's jaywalking "oh well. He deserved it because he was jay walking". But i digress. Anyway, it punishes the child as well. It deprives the child of having a life where it can be supported by the mother in an effective way. Teen mothers aren't equipped, and it denies the child the right to fair living. Not only this, but it can also potentially punish the parents! yes, the parents, who might have to look after the child instead (i know a case where this is happening with a friend of mine). So you can't look at it as punishment for the women. It's sexist and doesn't acknowledge the other players in the ordeal who didn't actually do anything wrong, yet are punished for it. Oh, and the government too. Government's gotta pay. That said, I don't believe FOCA is the right way to go about abortion laws. It's far too encroaching on rights of people who may not adhere to abortion, people who I respect. [/hide] +1 just for being a reasonable person, you have earned my respect whatever that is worth. Its good to see at least some pro choice people see a problem with full legalization.
  6. the thing is, that choice should be up to the inmate and or his family, the government should not be gaining any profit from an execution.
  7. a drop of water in your blood stream is not a problem a liter of water in your blood stream is fatal were talking about one drop so it cant kill (through non subatomic supercannon means)
  8. 200 is more signifigant then 2009, 819 or 2109 generally speaking of course
  9. see drop of water a few pages back excluding stuff like splitting the atoms and anti matter we have confirmed that no, a tiny tiny amount of water cannot kill you
  10. happy birthday anti creationism \
  11. cloud is heated to 1000K and pressurized in a small container with a very durable valve, I then de pressurize it remotely 1cm from your face. At that temperature it would heat up to a temperature that would destroy the container. The container is made of 1 foot thick diamond. Happy? Considering the sun is like 5770K, the heat would turn the cloud into something that isn't a cloud of water vapor. [/hide] fine, I heat the water vapor to exactly 1 degree K below the plasma state before depressurizing, I assure you if nearly plasma water vapor under pressure is despressurized into your face it will be fatal. Wouldn't the friction with the air when it depressurised cause it to heat up into plasma? fine, Ill go 50K below the plasma state, its more likely the air would be heated up anyway. After all, we are talking about a very small amount of distance and individual water molecules. You can be technical if you want, but at high temperatures you could die from the water going up your nose and burning your esophagus etc. Also, since you just said a cloud I can claim the pressure is 5000atm which would be fatal if decompressed in your face.
  12. [hide=] [/hide] Its fine reasoning and all but then again how many planets are there in the universe? If there is a one in ten billion chance of intelligent life developing on a planet and there are twenty billion planets it doesnt surprise me that there is at least one such planet. It could be divinely inspired, but then again it could just be probability. Well, my reasoning is that human life would originate on whatever planet could support us. So really it makes no difference which planet, we would eveolve there anyway. [/hide] evolution is change through random mutation and natural selection, so even if there is another perfect clone of earth it doesnt mean humans live on it.
  13. ninjas disguised as pirates that pirate picture is way to adult rated I am offended yes the pirate one I didnt typo

  15. Unlike a foetus, who'll when left alone develop into a human being completely unaided. Might want to think that one through a few times. He clearly means if in a womb, its kind of a given that left alone means without being aborted in this context.
  16. I was gathering a medium rc pouch in the alternate abyss and noticed something, while the abyssal monsters (except demon) give 1xp per hit in the regular abyss a player is granted full xp from them in the alternate abyss.

  19. It is very faulty to try to figure out the thought process of any infinitely powerful being theoretical or not. Also some of the real possibilities are 1. That there is a deity somewhere that can control everything at will, but for some reason has decided not to reveal itself even though it would save millions of lives, or... 2. We are here because of sheer dumb luck. 3. there is a being that exists outside of our physics but has a limited amount of power, he could be infinitely good infinitely bad or in between, if his power is limited it is hard to tell 4. there is an infinitely powerful being, but he does not have a perfect character and is allowing suffering to exist for whatever reason 5. there was a god but he "killed" himself creating the universe 6. were in the matrix after the real humanity discovered there was/wasnt a god through some means we cant understand 7. were a science experiment of a higher species Sparing everyone torture, it should be pretty clear by now that you cant simplify possible models of god into 1 or 2 examples.
  20. the only way for a cloud to have definite dimensions is for it to be in a container, which if it lacked oxygen could suffocate you. Gases have a volume equal to the size of their container so 1 inch by one inch of cyanide gas could kill you
  21. yes, but this is the very early trial. With time this would only have a signifgant effect on the hiv, even so, if you had aids wouldnt you risk an increase in your rate of cancer to cure it? Not an expert but how manageble is it to maintain an otherwise normal life with hiv in a 1st world country?
  22. [hide=] a cloud of chlorine gas could easily kill you. Yes it could, but he was talking about a regular cloud made of water vapor. I'm pretty sure clouds are either liquid or solid... No, they are water vapor. When the sun heats them, they become water and fall in the form of rain. [/hide] a cloud doesnt have to be made of water, see jupiter or neptune. but a cloud of water could build an electric charge then lightning bolt you
  23. how many people actually buy yew logs to burn? I agree on the rest of the points though, it would affect the fletching related economy.
