  1. Methinks you are painfully correct, best case scenario the kid ends up not doing the same thing.
  2. life in the context of when is a fetus a person, or life in the context of which of these is alive (rock, pigeon, human)? As to when a fetus becomes a person, thats obviously very tricky. Its hard to decide which of the hundreds of distinct steps of development we could choose. For personal matters its a fuzzy line of when it starts appearing like a baby. Legally, I think it should be set at either brain wave or neural development.
  3. I already adressed this somewhere, there are different levels of cognitive ability for a full developed sample from a species. I judge animals to be at a lower level then humans, so as long as they are being used for food or some better purpose I dont see anything morally wrong with killing them. Obviously, you can say aliens would take this point of view, but it should be clear that humans are a level above any other animal on earth.
  4. Im thinking of a piece wise function, exponential up to a point then working like a logarithm.
  5. [hide=] well, N2 asphyxiation was what the anti cruelty lobby wanted, I totally agree id rather take some lead. Really, slowly going to sleep is the must humane thing possible, excluding freaking out about what is happening. But, that isnt really relevant as you can freak out just as much when you are about to be shot, hung, injected etc. But from what i understand of it, the freaking out would last longer, and be like mental torture, but I'm probably just thinking this way because i saw a tv show about torture on the discovery channel today. [/hide] idk, its one of those weird things I would love to know what it feels like. Actually, think about trying to panic after waking up at 5am after 2 hours of sleep

  7. ima just say this, make of it what you will does anyone think the mother looks like a serious drug addict? I dont want to be a jerk but her picture just screams druggie/trailor trash to me.
  8. just get her something small but sweet, the expense wont bother her and it shows the sentiment.
  9. a hilt brings 65million value into the economy, not 65mil gp. Nats lead to alches which lead to coins being brought into the game. Similair to chins, you catch them and sell for say 1mil. That one mill came from another player and he will use them to range taking their value out of the economy; hence, all that happened was his 1mil coins moving to you
  10. Is it humanity or civilization that guides us to be rational, do we strive for raw passion or polished reason, is either better? Does the pulling from opposites ends drive us all to some degree of madness? that paragraph was beautiful btw.
  11. I agree with you here, I just have a problem with the assertion that you have to be out and about supporting a cause to be for it. Kudos to your community service btw, would be wrong to mention that.
  12. did you see my explanation I posted last page? there is an age of consent and a lower age for what noone can "touch". 16 with 15 is legal, 16 with 12 is illegal these ages shift a little by state, but thats the general rule.
  13. I think the examine for a sara chick being "a fluffy chick" is kinda funny.
  14. So I guess arguing about it on a runescape forum is going to reduce the amount of abortions then, eh? Sounds to me you don't really care about abortion that much, or you'd be educating people about safe sex and protection. Rather than yelling about it, holding signs outside of Planned Parenthood, and making women feel like [cabbage], why don't you go around educating kids about protection, and encourage birth control/condom dispensaries? Do you care about the poor? I sure hope you are donating all of your money to them Do you care about the crime rate? I sure hope you are working as a probation officer/criminal psychologist/investigator etc. see why this logic isnt a good idea?
  15. [hide=] yes it could, Ill try to address your questions as best I can, realize I believe in god but still hold what Im about to say as true. 1. well fatalism aside, as random as everything is theres nothing that states our conciousness couldnt have evolved in a similiar species(thinner frame if warmer planet, more hair if colder etc. Indeed, the odds of this exact world developing are very very tiny, but then again the odds of some intelligent life developing somewhere in the universe are pretty good. If there is some intelligent life and it manages to make it to the advanced "level" we are at it makes sense for this type of debate to occur. Just consider the scale of the universe, earth is nothing next to it so why should we assume our intelligence is somehow amazing relative to what else may be out there? 2. what makes you think there are a lack of mistakes? 3/4 see point 1 True, but it is highly unlikely. I guess to me it just seems more reasonable to believe in a God or some other form of higher intelligence and power. And maybe there are some types of mistakes in the universe? I said what i said because of how balanced it seems, and from what I've heard from different professors and teachers, some small detail gone wrong could have a massive impact and ruin this balance...thats what i meant. [/hide] tryto gave the best explanation I believe, one thing to see is that whether or not god caused it, we are in what amounts to great conditions for life on this planet. Since we are here we observe some signifigance in the fact we made it here when we realize most planets dont have life. I forget the principle, but humans try to force patterns on things that dont have them because we seek out order.
  16. no, the ages vary by state but generally there is something like age 12--cant have sex with anyone at/over 16, 12 with 15 is okay in the worst sense of the word age 16--sex for anyone 13 and up(there may be a 21 or over limit anyone familiar?) age 18--sex with anyone 16-infinity
  17. yes it could, Ill try to address your questions as best I can, realize I believe in god but still hold what Im about to say as true. 1. well fatalism aside, as random as everything is theres nothing that states our conciousness couldnt have evolved in a similiar species(thinner frame if warmer planet, more hair if colder etc. Indeed, the odds of this exact world developing are very very tiny, but then again the odds of some intelligent life developing somewhere in the universe are pretty good. 18. Basically, there is an age of consent and a minimum age of um participation, if you are over the age of consent having sex with someone under the age of participation its a lighter degree of rape then normal but its still rape. Similiar to how stealing gum is not as bad as stealing a car. while true, is there anything wrong with the parents of the kids raising the baby? Of course, its nowhere near an ideal situation, but that doesnt mean the first thought needs to be having an abortion. Dang, this whole situation sucks
  19. its a mix of generally getting used to the workout(from your muscles point of view), also its possible you are getting used to the soreness to some extent.
  20. I believe that is called statutory rape.
  21. pureprayers point is that pure ess is turned into nats is used to alch something to make gp so the amount of gp in the economy goes up. Oppurtunity costs means that mining ess then rc nats may not be as good as just rc nats, it doesnt affect the gp that exists. If you get a 20mil gp item in the gwd there isnt any more gp in the rs economy, there is more value in items+money but not more gp. I have my doubts that a drop in yew prices would crash the economy, but it would have an effect.
  22. thats an average, and probably just an estimation on top of that so its not a surprise this could happen.
  23. Maybe not  - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/artic ... other.html Plus the youngest mother ever is what? 5? that article harmed my faith in humanity, really everyone should read it, that girl is an idiot edit-- Ill go with both.
  24. [hide=] You are a pathetic disgrace if I may say so. To stop shooting the basketball, to stop playing to your full capacity, and to show mercy to another team is a sign of piss poor sportsmanship in my books. To play underneath their level is a slap in the losing team's face, and just basically mocking the fact that the suck. If I was on a losing end of a game, I would NEVER want my opponents to let up. Because at the point in which they start giving any mercy, then any scores my team puts up doesn't amount to squat. Good sportsmanship is to play the game from tip off to the last buzzer with pride, dignity and giving it 100% all the way through. Piss poor sportsmanship is the other team or anyone else expecting the victors to lay off just because they are winning. [/hide] you wouldnt say that if you were losing a game 100-0. I already had this argument earlier on this thread, its one thing to just stop shooting and mess with the team, the ethics of that is debateable. It is in the spirit of competition to put in your worst players and have them play their best game so the other team doesnt feel like they are being crushed for an hour. Actually it would be pretty insulting for them to stop trying their best. They might aswell say "We're that much better than you, we're going to play piss poor in order to give you a chance at a comeback since you're that pathetic we don't even need to try." [/hide] I already said whether or not you believe in continuing scoring is an agree to disagree thing what Im saying is they should have played their second or third string players. Would you rather spend the second half of a game getting dominated some more or play an even half against the opponents jv?
  25. I'd rather get shot in the face, then get injected with a bunch of chemicals. i have no clue what nitrogen asphyxiation is. But another thing about guns is, guns are messy, makes there be alot of blood. nobody likes cleaning up blood. id totally do it as a side job on the weekends (semi serious) nitrogen asphyxiation is basically slowly lowering the O2 content in the chamber until you fall unconcious and die, from what ive heard it would be very much like falling asleep with nearly zero chance of complications. skate--I agree they lose a lot of their rights, the thing is that if we start harvesting organs from criminals it is quite a slipperly slope.
