E3 2011
It is that time of the year again: E3, gaming's biggest event is almost here. For those who don't know what E3 is, E3, also known as Electronic Entertainment Expo, is a convention where the biggest companies show their biggest assets for the following year(s). This not only includes titles already announced aswell as brand new reveals. While the Expo itself is only official for 3 days, there are press conferences on the Eves, usually held by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft and EA. After the press conferences are over though, every gaming site migrates to the show floor to personally try out the demos available. That being said, it is also during these cofnerences the biggest announcements appear, so, what do you Tip.Iters think will be the biggest news and surprises of the show? Press Conference dates: Microsoft- June 6th, 9:00 am western EA- TBA Ubisoft-TBA Nintendo-June 7th, 9 am PDT Sony- June 6th, 5 pm PDT Konami- June 2nd Timetable below [hide][/hide] My shots for the show, and the ones i'm most looking forward, are: Project Cafe will be announced (next Nintendo console) Lots of PSP2 stuff Kingdom Hearts 3 The last Guardian Details 3DS lineup such as Mario 3D, Paper Mario, Metal Gear and Shin Megami Tensei. You might want to update the main post too, the ban list is different this time around (latis, chomp allowed, Ken is banned, etc).

Actually, most of those threats you mentioned were quite good last gen (apart from venomoth). Quagsire was the only 100% counter to Kyogre in ubers, and was better than Lanturn because of two immunities (one of them important: water) and better typing, being weak to Equake is never good. Blaziken was the best wallbreaker in UU aswell. Also, don't diss 'Nape, he still tears through OU like it's his everyday business. It's bigest counters are the Lati Twins and Scarf Chomp. If only he learned Suckerpunch... Recently I've been trying a team revolving around Zoroark. Scizor, 'Nape and Zoro confuse the heck out of people with u-turning and priority moves. They can realy make or break a game.

In game, Archeops is definatly the better one, but Tirtuoga, and later on Carracosta, eventually learn Shell Break, that and sturdy make them pretty ncie pokemons.

They already did Ground Flying too, with the Gligar family. But yeah, imo the best type combo this gen was that godly Fighting/Dark combo they gave scrafty. Perfect Neutral coverage? I'm in. They also made an offensive zapdos, a dragon ice and another perfect coverage mon, Reshiram.

So, i've ben trying a new team online and Holy crap i think i found a good one: Alexander (Tyranitar) (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Superpower - Stone Edge - Pursuit - Crunch Tina (Omastar) (F) @ Expert Belt Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Shell Smash - Ice Beam - Surf - Earth Power Elizabeth (Gliscor) (F) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Ice Fang - Taunt - Swords Dance Spikeberry (Nattorei) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 204 HP / 100 Def / 204 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Thunder Wave - Leech Seed - Stealth Rock - Power Whip Legretta (Doryuuzu) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Sand Throw EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Frustration - Swords Dance - X-Scissor Gilliam (Randorosu) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Sand Power EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Earth Power - Hidden Power [ice] - Focus Blast No one is expecting a LO Dory nor a special Landoros. CB tars are also rare, so you cna nab KO's from things like Rotoms and Reuniclus by pursuiting them. And don't scoff at Omastar, that thing's a beast!

If you're talking about in game teams, speed or defences are nowhere near as important as you make it sound. Trainers don't EV train and usually have unevolved, underleveled pokemon until post game. The only NPC's with a minimal degree of inteligence, and even then i doubt a bit (N's Zoroark tried to finish off my chandelure with flamethrower, ty for the boost  Since you'll be usually overleveled, focus on good attackers. Hell, my samurott was probably the slowest of my team and it ousped everything on the E4 except for a liepard at level 47. Same thing for Chandelure. Plus, even though they suck competitivly, Gen 5 starters (and gen 4 too) aren't that bad: Samurott has amazing coverage and good mixed stats: Bug, Fighting and water give great coverage, and you can stick return in it for the famous water-normal combo. Emboar has Fighting and fire STABs, both very usefull. Serperior is the worst one i think, and even he has coil for boosting fairly early on. Anyways: Defeated Ghetsis and i can finally post my entire team and rate it. Samurott (Afonso) Revenge Aqua Tail Surf Megahorn Definatly the best starter. Water is a great typing, he gets megahorn after the fifth gym and revenge early on, thus giving him good coverage. Can take many hits and dish out major pain, specially on the special side. Mine is physical as i intend to teach him Swords Dance in post game. Plus, he gets Razor shell really early. Revenge helps greatly against Hydreigon. Top tier. Leavanny (Benethona) Swords Dance Shadow Claw X-Scissor Leaf Blade The second mon i caught. While sewaddle looks a bad choice, both his stabs help greatly since they can decimate in the desert and Team plasma. He evolves fairly early on, and even as Dwebble he is a force. After you get the soothe bell, it'll evolve quickly and become a beast. Bad thing is: He gets pretty poor later on. He is a great help with gyms though: You can use him to heal your team in the third gym, can kill everything on Clay's team apart from excadrill, deal some damage on the dragon gym and decimate the dark and psychic elite 4. He is quite frail though, and has two big 4x weaknesses. mine could never take more than 3 strong neutral hits, Swords Dance helps later on though. High Tier Scrafty (Bina) Work Up High Jump Kick Crunch Brick Break This guy (or gal) is amazing. Perfect Neutral coverage, a boosting move, MOXIECONFIDENCE, all of these generate a great pokemon thats good all the way through. Hydreigon, whats a Hydreigon? oh, that thing that got smacked hard by a high jump kick? Just use HJK wisely, sometimes, guys with protect or dig can fake you out. Top Tier. Krookodile (Metralha, beagle boys in portuguese) Crunch Dig Strenght Foul Play People on smogon praised and hailed this reptile. I guess i did something wrong with it, cause it was definatly the guy i used less through my entire playthrough. Dig was never enough, Crunch came in play late, Foul play was also very sitational (it was fun OHKOing that Haxorus with 2 DD's). Mine also had Moxieconfidence, and even at +1, he never was strong enough. Stil, it could be way worse, He had decent coverage too. Mid Tier. Galvantula (Tesla) Volt Switch Thunder Signal Beam Sucker Punch He arrives fairly late, but even than he carried it's own weight. Befor reading on, note mine was modest, so his amazing power could be amplified by this. Volt Switch was great while he was a Joltik and helped him decimate the flying gym. Evolved fairly on, and once you get thunder, a powerhouse is built. Sucker Punch is there until i get Energy Ball. Too bad it's HP is poison :( . Still, good coverage, good attacking stats, meh defences, quite a few resistences, overall i liked him. A lot. High Tier. Chandelure (Lucifera) Fire Burst Hidden Power Grass Fire Blast Shadow Ball At first, i thought i had to baby it a lot. How wrong i was. Even as a Litwick, the candle was amazing. He comes fairly late, but right on time for the twist mountain, and more important, Ice Gym. He pulled is own weight, then evolved, and pulled the weight of various other mons, notably the gator (Bina helped aswell). He only gets to chandelure after the 8th gym though, which might be a downer. I thought it was great, but honestly, i can see it's faults: fairly frail, slowish (mine was a female timid with Flash fire, great for breeding <3 ) and evolves late. Chandelure is a beast though, OHKO'ing everything that doesn't resist/bulky enough to survive a neutral hit. If it was my own opinion, it would be high tier, but honestly, it is Mid-High Tier at best.

Venusaur is a beast: HP fire, growth, energy ball and sludge ball is his regular set and with a growth under it's wing it isn't afraid of much. Ferro is KO's by HP fire and so is VIri with a growth and sun up. Bellyzard actually outclasses Daruma's BD set for one thing alone: base 100 speed and access to Thunder Punch to deal with Gyarados, who stops him cold. As for comparing Solarzard to heatran, he's already better for full on offence: Fire Blast, Focus blast, HP Ice and Solar beam decimate anything but a rain stall team. once charmander gets released, he'll get access to Dragon Pulse, and as a result HP grass. Plus, he is faster, albeit frailler. Blastoise is a good UU wall and Meganium sucks. Typhlo can do good on lower tiers with sun boosted scarfruption (vulpix of course). Feraligatr is doing great on DW with Sheer force. after a single DD he is quite awesome and if he gets 2 you're done. Blaziken is Uber, Swampert will be great in UU gen 5 and was a great wall in gen 4. Sceptile is quite great with unburden, i prefer using it with a fire gem so i can guarantee a KO on ferro. Nape is great as a mixed surprise set, or even his regular gen 4 sets. Empoleon i have no experience and same for orterra. 5th gen starters are just lol though. CB emboar might be able to do something if he gets one attack off, but what are the chances of that? serperior is only good as a sub seeder, even after he gets contrarian. Glare is good though. Samurott is, at the moment, praying to arceus that on Grey Version he gets shell break so he can be good, maybe even OU.

Yeah, my ingame team is shaping up really well. I have a Scraggy lv 33, really great mon with moxie. So far it has work up, HJK, payback and headbutt. Krokorok is level 32 and is really underwhelming, maybe after he gets more decent moves other than dig and crunch. I just got my Samurot, so i haen't really tedted it. It has revenge, Shell Blade, Megahorn and Aqua Jet. I also got my Leavanny at level 27, so no need to exploit the TM stuff. She's also pretty decent with bug and grass stab. really looking forward to another physical move and swords dance. And as i arrived to the 6th gym city, i got my Joltik, male with counpound eyes and modest nature. I got REALLY lucky there. Nicknamed it Tesla <3.

I found this in the Escapist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTinHVB9lyE I just realised that the Legend of Zelda theme never fails to give me the chills, regardless of the instrument.

It's not like Leavanny can't handle rock types, and since Galvantula gets Every Ball, aswell as Chandelure, it's not that big of a deal. Plus, there are no Rock gyms or Elite 4.

Have you tried an Infernape in place of lucario? It has a way better speed, equalish SpA and is fairly unpredictable. Try that set I've posted a while ago, it might help.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
What? I've never heard of it! Time to try an oldie it seems, If Chrono Trigger isn't out in the VC by the end of the month, i might get Contra for XBLA or Contra 3 on the VC. Or just Replay Super Metroid if i find myself short on cash.

I think Jagex will give their Sailing knock-off this year, although it would be a pretty late bandwagon jump.
