  1. Also the jump in quality between 80-90 will be much greater than 80-85. We will likely see a sharper drop in a shorter time than had port armor been better.
  2. How much does Jagex have to piss all over any non nex armor just to keep it's price artificially high?
  3. Look out dicers, there's a new rich player in town.
  4. Quick, somebody calculate xp/dog. *awkwardly glances at dog*
  5. Tank died literally 3 seconds before kill so all of us but 1 split.
  6. Yes, because people have things that are more fun than Sinkholes that they can do. Efficient things are packed because it's the "best" way to play runescape. Sinkholes are not the "best" way to have fun.
  7. Fairly sure nothing in ports is boostable.
  8. It looks more insect-like than his Kalphite armor. ... Or lowering the power of 2H weapons. Sounds like a case of "the glass is half empty" mentality. So far these EoC updates haven't exactly improved anything, last one and this one have just lowered effects of existing abilties, armour or weaponry. While true to some extent, none of those things have been outright broken like dual wielding is. It's only op because there are no other t90 items. Once there are more t90 armor and weapons in game it will be as op as chaotics were albeit with the problem of being extremely expensive.
  9. So much for using it strategically. Also inb4 it doesn't work on KK's 1hko attack.
  10. Even worse is that their temporary fix of making randoms limited to 1 per day wasn't removed after they fixed the reward "bug".
  11. I did fine without them.
  12. It's not efficiency that isn't fun. It's the mindless grinding and repetition associated with it. Problems arise when fun, inefficient activities become dead content because people consider them a waste of time. People who enjoy raising skills in an mmo are likely to choose Runescape. People who enjoy team capture the flag have many better options to choose from than Runescape's castlewars. It's not that people hate fun, but the one's who stick around a game based on leveling skills are likely to focus on leveling skills. That's not to say that nobody does anything fun in Runescape, on the contrary, advancing their character is what they consider fun. The matter of only using the best training methods is simple. Clicking a yew tree is just as fun as clicking an arctic pine, but the arctic pine will get you to your goals faster. Obviously people cutting yews value their time because they are chopping yews instead of normal trees, but usually they either don't know anything better to cut or are simply unwilling to change. I've been the guy cutting yews, and it wasn't because I thought it was fun, rather I thought it was good xp and money.
  13. And once you near 100% success you will be getting almost 2.5x more trade goods per mission in the pincers which leads me to believe that camping a lower region is of almost no use. I mean by 2 weeks you will probably be getting 80-90% success in pincers which is 4 trade goods (4+1 * 80%). Unless you are really terrified of losing crew or something staying in a lower region is a horrible idea. It only pays off in the very short term if that.
  14. If you stick to scythe to do scrolls/trade goods you will very rarely be sending out more than 1 wave (4 ships) of ships anyway. Why not send out 1 wave (4 ships) of ships in the pincers and get more trade goods? The only way this would work is if you had enough scroll/trade good missions that the scythe would gain you more per day than the pincers, but this is not the case. You will end up with 1 scroll voyage per day and a similar number of trade good missions, though the scythe ones will be for less items.
  15. Then you choose to get the upgrades from the first area before you hit the second. More player choice isn't a bad thing.
  16. Is that really that bad? That's kind of how RS skills work. When rune armour was the highest levelled armour in the game, people that decided to level past level 40 had an advantage when dragon armour etc. was released. It's just as bad as the random event "exploit" (read: not bad at all).
  17. The thing is about the arguement of dirrecting people onto the project is, we dont know Jagex' game plan. Nor do we know what they can spare. There could be developers working on small projects that dont NEED to be in the game for a few months. These things can easily be worked around. Whilst Yes I understand its not so simple. But its no so hard either. They're not going to pull people off their cash cows (sof and solomon) to try to revive a dead one. They've already stated that both of them allow them to expand the game far faster than had they not been there, much more than could be said about rs2006.
  18. That worse feeling you get when you do see the Ibis mask but the mummy pulls you out before you can grab it.
  19. Friend saw someone having trouble selling a tetsu helm for 20m an hour ago if that helps.
  20. Just remember that failing a mission still gives the same distance as succeeding. If you're looking to get to pincers asap 4th ship is your best bet. Getting crew now for more successes will only get you more jade (which quickly becomes useless), at a cost of distance.
  21. They simply need to build a subway system. They simply need to install a democratic government. They simply need to put a man on the moon. Saying it's simple doesn't mean it's simple. Let's use some common sense here, if it was as simple as someone saying "let's open a 2006 server!" and having bob go put a cd into his computer and have it done by the end of the day we would have one now. Since we do not, we can assume that there are significant obstacles in the way. I dont see how they are to do with this. Since all them things, man on the moon took years of work. Whilst RS the works already there. A government is nothing like a game. Building subways again is not like game. You're downplaying the real costs and risks involved to make it sound like it's an obvious choice when it isn't, else we would have a 2006 server right now. You are effectively asking to have a transit system (or anything else) built with the reasoning being "just take money from somewhere else, it's 0 cost". [/hide] As a software engineer I do have some expertise in this and I can tell you that if they follow proper version control practices then it should be just that easy. I have been working on a project for years, and even though the software has been continuously updated, at any point I could look at a copy of the software from the beginning of the project by simply using a different "view". Just google software version control. Since you're someone with experience in the field, please don't allow misunderstanding to spread due to vague English. Assuming, for example, that they're still using the same version control system that they were in 2006, then it should indeed be "just that easy" to look at the code, sure. That doesn't mean the game would be in a ready-to-play state. Too many people in this thread have done as you said, googled SVC, and came away with just that faulty impression. [/hide] My main problem is EoC as well. I dont even care if its not 2006 they bring back. EoC ruined the game. Not just the combat but everything around it. Thats why I hate it. I'd actually be interested to hear more about this. Personally I don't like EoC, and I prefer the old combat system. But I'm not sure what you mean when you talk about EoC ruining other things as well. Minigames died are empty, Wild dead, I heard staking is dead to. Alot of monsters are not practicle to fight. Combat triangle too harsh. Most weapons and rewards from quests are useless. Markets crashed. Everything you described is solely combat oriented.
