  1. I wouldn't be so sure mathematical projections from 1am put the current voting rate curve at 140k votes by the end of the 14 days so as it stands even 250k seems like it's gonna be a stretch to hit. Looks like people are going to get a chance to put their money where their mouth is.
  2. One kill in between these in which I died.
  3. Whips will once again be the best weapon. With chins you can just train the normal way and still achieve 99 range, with whips it's either buy one or you'll never have the same amount of dps. Chins will overtake whips in the long term since they are used up and whips will "constantly" by coming into the game, though it's uncertain if anyone will be playing to see that day.
  4. It's not that people are saying they are wasting money, just that it's uncertain. The only thing we do know is that the one legacy server Jagex has made is empty. I trust Jagex in the matter, if they say they can make money off of it then so be it, but the average scaper is another matter entirely. This is why people vote no, not because they hate the people that want a 2007 server, but because they have no reason to think it will be successful.
  5. Yes, I know. I know that Jagex have showed some kind of support for them. But what I was wondering was why some people would not want everyone to be treated equally. They don't want a relatively large amount of effort to be put towards a relatively small population. If Jagex had an infinite budget then I'm sure nobody would be against this, but they don't, so players merely have to look to rsc servers and see it dead to make up their mind that legacy servers don't work for Runescape. Until someone can show me actual data (not made up numbers that 2006scape had signed up) I will not vote yes. It has nothing to do with equality, I just want Jagex to make money and so make the game I play better.
  6. Do you mean the new old game or the new old game? People have been discussing this matter since they mentioned mechscape years ago. It also comes up with every holiday event when people complain that the developer's time is spent on something only in the game for 2 weeks.
  7. No. It's the attitude of the whole forum which has changed. It went from being nice and friend, to a competition of being the biggest dickbag. What? Nostalgia at work once again.
  8. I'd be glad to leave you guys. And so will the 100k with me right now. You are vastly underestimating your support with only 100k. At your 5 votes/second by the time the poll is closed in 10 days you will have a vast horde of players well over 4 million strong. And some people say the community wasn't better before. I remember a time when TIFers were nice. You do realize that he has been spouting nothing but made up numbers, lies and insults since this thread started right?
  9. If teknofield represents the player base that will be moving to these new servers I will go and vote right now to make it happen. Hell, I'll personally pack their bags.
  10. Nobody is saying that you can't prefer the old servers, they are saying that they won't vote to allocate funding to their creation. Jagex gave them the chance to show their support for an update they want, something I was sure would not happen. Far from ignoring them, they are giving this minority the recognition it has fought months for.
  11. Now I'm not that great with statistics or math, but isn't this an average of around 833 less votes per hour? Clearly that number will drop as time goes on and pushes the average lower but I really can't see us getting more than 1-2k/day after a day or so. I'm rather doubtful it will even get 250k, and 500-750k is just not going to happen.
  12. It is a legacy server set at a different point in the game's history. If you can't see the similarities then I'm sorry but it's impossible for me to make any clearer. Nostalgia failed then and it will fail now. That doesn't even make sense. People want legacy servers because they remember the old versions of the game fondly. They don't recall however that the best times they had were due to a number of things. Ignorance, youth, progress, many things contributed to their enjoyment of the game. Do you really think that people enjoyed the game because combat froze you for 3 turns? Because npcs were no better than 2d sprites? Because you had to click once for every resource? All of the latter is coming back with none of the former. I can go and play games like Super Mario Bros from 20 years ago because the draw is in mechanics and atmosphere. The draw of Runescape is in the discovery and the community. Since I will be granted neither ignorance of the game nor the youth in which I played it I have little interest in it.
  13. Nostalgia failed then and it will fail now.
  14. The number of votes drops over time, it doesn't speed up. Ah delusional hope. I'm betting it falls short or maybe hits the 250k mark. Numbers clearly back me up. Closing in on 70k votes, 17 hours left. If we just average 3k votes will have almost 130k votes before tomorrow. I'm 100% sure this will hit 250k by Monday or Tuesday. I have a strong feeling that you will be the most disappointed player who has posted on this thread. Almost every one of your expectations is unreasonable or flawed in some way.
  15. Exactly. For every player who is stupid (or rich) enough to buy spins to train there are 10 that will just bot or buy the gold directly and save a lot of money. Not to say that it's totally a non-issue, but people have been buying their way to the top for a long, long time. At least now the money goes to Jagex if they choose to do it legally.
  16. The real fan base of which you are included? You who take the role of some kind of freedom fighter telling people to rebel against Jagex and not to re-subscribe with the goal of forcing them to spend money to satisfy your whim? Far from a fan, you and your group are more a thorn in Jagex's side who will bar the way of progress in order to achieve their own ends. If people do not like the game anymore (because of a specific update such as the EoC, or a multitude of updates over a period of time), they are perfectly within their rights to unsubscribe and to express the reasons for which they did so. If enough people do this, clealry Jagex has done something wrong and they will lose profit, as they should, for not catering to the demands of their playerbase. There is nothing wrong with them spending money to satisfy a large number of players, it's called 'listening'. Just because you detest the EoC or other updates does not make you a 'thorn in the side of Jagex'. We want the game as it was at a given point in the past, we will make that known and if Jagex think they can make some money from it (which they clearly can), they will do it. Everyone's happy. You seem to treat the wants of everyone that is not satisfied as somehow invalid - they are not invalid. A 2007 server is unique because it only caters to players who have played since 2007. The target audience can never grow, and the driving force behind the update is nostalgia. So, we are being asked if we want to fund an experiment aimed at a small, dwindling portion of the player base known for never being satisfied with change and general hell raising if things aren't perfect. At the heart of this endeavor is an emotion(?) well known for making things past seem better then they are. What does this mean? To me it seems like a terrible idea doomed to failure, and until I see proof (someone from Jagex showing me real numbers) I will not vote yes.
  17. The real fan base of which you are included? Far from a fan, you and your group are more a thorn in Jagex's side who will bar the way of progress in order to achieve your own ends. I have to agree with that. But I still think its good they are listening to the players for once. Wether you are for it or not. An induvidual is not the community. The fact people are selfishly torn between simple things that dont even effect eachother is crazy. No one really knows what the community wants untill Jagex puts the main spoken problems to the test. I can't speak for everyone, but I was opposed to the pre-eoc server. Now this wasn't because I didn't like the idea (now that it's confirmed I plan on logging in at least a few times), but I couldn't see how it would make them money to cover the costs. What I could see was an almost completely deserted rsc server and I can remember my own experiences of playing an old game and finding it not the same as I remembered it. I'm not Jagex, and so don't have access to the numbers that could potentially tell me that it would be a good idea, so I was very skeptical. I have a feeling that a lot of users here have thought the same things, it just doesn't look like a good idea.

  19. There is no future with EOC folks. Face it. Only the minority like it. Everyone else hates it, and on Friday i'll let the community speak for itself. SHUT UP ALREADY AND REALISE THE BIGGER PICTURE. THE BIG PICTURE IS THAT EVERYONE WANTS THE OLD RUNESCAPE BACK SIR! Jagex realizes it. They threw so much things at their players that were not needed. Everything was fine and dandy in 2007. Making a 2007 server does not mean they will be bringing back 2007 Runescape, it means that they will be deleting all updates that happened after 2007.
  20. I've heard numbers ranging from 300,000 active members to 200,000 online and now 30,000 supporters. I really can't take any of it seriously anymore.
  21. Voting for something in ignorance is worse. This vote is a show of interest. Nobody is voting against it, they're saying they're not interested.
  22. From what I've read there is only a yes option. Also getting sick of the "you are retarded if you vote no!!" crap.
  23. What I take from this is that they (Jagex) will pick a result and implement it then twist the vote number to represent their choice. However, I'm looking forward to try it out for a laugh and even more so the massive shitstorm this will kick up.
  24. Wish they would just have a standard degradation system and scale the price to level like everything else. Instead we have: - barrows gear - chaotics - nex gear - corrupt pvp gear - normal pvp gear - dominion gloves - crystal gear - fungal/grifolic/ganodermic - polypore staff - port armor All of which degrade in different ways. Probably missing a lot but yeah.
