  1. Being a gambling host is the act of abusing people's greed/naivety to get them to stake their money against yours with a (significant) disadvantage. There is also a big difference between knowing the odds and risk. The latter cannot fully be conveyed with just "60/40" as the risk in gambling is not in the numbers of a single game, but in the addiction that causes people to play another. If "hosting" is not an outright scam then it is a parasitic exchange, but the act of taking advantage of the weak willed is morally abhorrent either way.
  2. Yes, they wanted to reach the members who don't follow the front page because the vote was flatlining. Edit: Doing this serves Jagex's best interests (making money) and has precedent with the wilderness vote and possibly others. The real question is why wouldn't they do this?
  3. You forgot the pop-up that appears in the live game telling you to vote regardless of you having done so already. Nevermind.
  4. Why... No, not pointless. It turns Jagex into "our benevolent rulers" instead of "those greedy scumbags who took away specs".
  5. 1. Decide to release 2007 servers as add-on to normal membership 2. Create poll to give illusion of listening to players and declare insane price if goals are not met 3. Release for free regardless of outcome and be lauded as heroes So simple yet so effective.
  6. Hey! My mouse has a ball in it, and it's rather new. :P I'm not sure that should even be allowed to be called a mouse >.< thats like the dinosaur that fell into the uranium pit and spit out a mutated monster.
  7. His guess is as good as anyone's unless someone has done some sort of bot census that I haven't heard about.
  8. I said fixed not perfected. It's a hell of a lot better now than it was in rapierscape.
  9. You get the character you had in '07 but it's crippled. A lot of the game functionality is not there--things like auto run, sit to recharge energy, click the directional icon to return camera to center, etc. I don't remember RS being that simple in '07, but I suuppose it was. I'm not adverse to change, but something my son said makes a whole lotta sense: If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Jagex did too much too fast, IMHO. If I don't like EOC, why am I forced to use that fighting style? And the map's cluttered now. You have these extremes of too hard and too easy. Too many changes too fast, if you ask me. Just give me a game I can enjoy while jumping screens to make my move in Scrabble. I love the way things fit together iin RS, but Jagex tossed a wrench into the machinery by changing too much too fast. Whereas I used to play daily, I haven't logged into the current game for months, because my heart's just not in it. EOC took the fun out of it for me, but I don't want the lame '07 rollback, either. There must be something in between. Did they really introduce the EOC updtate with no way back? Talk about burning bridges! For shame, Jagex. What your son said may be true, but it does not apply here. As a game that aims to provide the player with choices on how to develop their character, if you didn't use a fast melee weapon (whip/rapier) pre eoc you would always be at a disadvantage. This was not a combat triangle, it was a combat line with melee on the winning side. Claiming Jagex should be ashamed because they fixed possibly the most prominent flaw in their game is unreasonable and another legacy server is unrealistic. It's your right to be disattisfied with an update, but that doesn't mean that what Jagex did is not the right thing.
  10. Had the option to get them for a few weeks and only had 3. Edit: No steel building upgrades.
  11. He was 317 total and the "box" was a dragon plate set. So tempted to just give his whiny ass 1m for it.
  12. I thought the same thing. It's sort of a "shadow" from the last mission you had in that slot, you don't actually get the 250 chimes.
  13. For every 2 abilities you do, you'll get 1 auto attack at 150% damage with staff and 2 auto attacks at 100% dmg with wand/shield. You also have the benefit of being able to use a shield and maintain the same dps (assuming you don't need the accuracy from the book).
  14. Whole game is a shitstorm of lag and disconnections.
  15. Would definitely go crew first. The ship upgrades iirc are only 350/200/200 for hulls/deck/bow respectively and are exorbitantly expensive. Be prepared to spend a lot of chimes whatever you do though.
  16. Also had 2 offhand longswords on maybe third and eighth duos, he really likes handing those out. Damn shame duoing is so slow though, it's a lot of fun especially ffa split.
  17. Because some people are never happy with what they have. The grass is always greener on the other side, or in this case, the grass was greener in 2007.
  18. Am I missing something or is there a big red line through f2p?
  19. And if they listened to you months ago we'd have some other guy on here complaining about how they should have listened to him.
  20. Jagex, hire this man. He has seen the flaws in your plan, but with his support you will become rich beyond your wildest dreams. Honestly, you make it sound like Jagex hq is smack in the middle of Mordor, and that they are only out to grab power and deliver suffering upon the race of man.
  21. You mean like when we had the 200 billion accounts made thing, and the counter went up even when rs was down?
  22. Estoc replied to muggiwhplar's topic in Help and Advice
All chaotic weapons share the same accuracy.
  23. Trio FFA split because we were sick of 2 day dry streak.
  24. Looks like it won't even reach 250k.
