  1. I will add that the scrimshaw of cruelty insta sold for 6500. lol such a bust....
  2. Well I think I have had a feeling that RWTing would come to Runescape at some point before the game gets sold off to another company. First they way they have made bonds work is great. I about a month ago paid some real life money to purchase rune coins so i could buy the bank boosters. Had i just waited a month i could have bought bonds and got the extra bank spaces for free (well IRL money free). I have to give alot of credit to Jagex on this one they did something that was bound to happen but were able to do it in way that created the least amount of blow back from the players as possible. ** Side note @ those talking about historical Jagex vs current Jagex. I have played RS since the start and have seen the game change massively I highly doubt there at more then a handful of us that have played since early 2001. Back around late 2001 through the start of members and even up until RS2 there was a bit of a culture that while you many not be equal in real life on RS everyone started out the same and had to earn what they have. But back then there was not alot of 99s in anything no one was maxed. A new person could in just a few months get all the best equipment (rune plus dragon weapons) and be within 20 lvls of the best players in the game (lvl 70-80 combat stats). Now starting from scratch in order to be on par with the max players i would have to guess it would take about a year to gain enough wealth/ stats/ quests to be within 20 levels of max players. (im not talking about no lifing it either) casual play 1-3 hours a day total of 8 hours on the weekend so 13-20ish hours played per week. So i guess what im saying is that as a new player today the odds are already stacked against you in such a way that even if you dump an extra 20 bucks a week into the game to buy money its not going to help you make up the difference in lvls/quests/wealth(items) so fast that current high or mid-level players would see you as a threat or an issue. Just my 2 cents on that.
  3. Doubt anyone cares, but last night for the first time i tried out the new skill. I liked it, i only went to lvl 6 because I am forced to play on my wifes crappy labtop that can barely run RS becuase my pc is in the shop. Clearly there will be more added to the skill in time and there will be more things to use the energy on at a later point. I was around since basicly the begining of RS and this skill is very much like the gathering skills when they were first added. Woodcutting started out as only one type of tree and you have to click the hatchet then click the tree over and over. Minning was the same way only there were a few types of ore. So at this point the new skill is fine, i know it must kinda suck for those power lvling it right now but hey no ones forcing you to collect wisps for 12+ hours a day.
  4. I guess ill put in my 2 cents worth. I have been with Runescape since almost the start I started early 2001. I have watched a lot change and I have stayed through all of it. But that said I must confess I have clue how to use the EOC properly. IM level 200 now but I find that I just turn on momentum and wont fight anything that really has a chance to kill me. I find the new combat annoying and I guess confusing since even though I think I kind of understand it I don't think im using the abilities right. Due to that I have mostly abandoned combat which has always been my favorite part of the game. But I have switched over to skilling and making money through skilling. I really don't want the game to decline but I have to say based on what I see is that it is losing players at faster rate then gaining them. I really don't know how someone new to the game could begin playing and have any sort of understanding of what's going on.
  5. Can someone figure out which skills its faster/best to train by collecting renown and turing it in for XP lamps? I dont have the figure for how much you collect per hour but my guess is about 1-1.3k
  6. I guess they raised the fee from 10gp to open the gate. Ya i voted the same and I was really annoyed at how fast the money is running out. Why are we(Lumbridge) recruiting more guards man or whatever they will have what maybe 500lp what the hell are they going to do to a god?
  7. I keep getting D/C'd or everything in game freezes ( that's going on now) what should we avoid doing? Im just trying to walk around and click on the different interfaces. Edit* also I tried to up on that bronze helmet(not helmet token) they gave when you start the battle of lumbridge and it disappeared? It goes where the scrimshaws go. I figured it out left my questions incase anyone else had issues.
  8. This. This so much. I disconnect from the game now every 15 minutes or so. Lost already a good deal of dungeons to it, and had to fear the worst for logging back in when I was killing monsters. I don't get what they've done that could make the game so unstable. I was having the same problem this is what i did and it seems to have fixed the issue.(no clue if this is why it stopped) But I opened the developer console by pressing the ` button (its the button next to the number 1 on standard US keyboards) then type DISPLAYFPS this brings up so information but the info you want to look at is the cache info that is ticking up towards 100%. Basicly what you want to do is stand still don't move out of the area your in until the cache reaches 100% after you should be fine. I did that and after I have had no problems. But i not saying 100% this will work but give it a try. *edit it took a pretty long time to reach 100% about 10-13 mins
  9. Ya I'm in the same boat and started in February my foggy memory recalls there was just a log in as there was only one server and then a few days or a week after I started there were 2 servers and you could pick between them.
  10. Talk about old names. Somehow I'm shocked I'm not in the 100+ list - either its from way before rs2, or it's incomplete. I got 99 magic way before some of the listed mages in there, then again I didn't start really working on combat until after: (that same weekend I powered onwards to 99 magic and - as the page where I got the pic from reminds me - rank 11 magic. Top of my head I was never better that 12th :o) EDIT: The image was uploaded April 14th 2003. That long list was from before rs2 came out, I don't know when list is from but I was lvl 117 when RS2 came out and on that list it has me at 100s so it was from at least a few months before rs2 release but mot likely 4 months or more. Its funny I was always around all the well known Runescape old school people but never high enough level to be famous or anything. I was in the top 100 for combat for brief period of time made it to 97th best. If anyone can remember the server status pages I was once the top crafter lol with like lvl 30 something.
  11. XP Additions (free and members) This sounds really good, Anything that requires a damn agility level to pass should be granting some type of XP.
  12. Damn i had finally got a PC that could run Runescape on max settings and now there is a chance with this update that it will no longer be the case.... This does look to be a pretty great update. Touching on some of that quest talk, I myself have like 100 quests to do now just to catch up , so many that i put off doing them and more slowly pile up....
  13. ^^ But you only have 22 scrolls i have gotten 30. I was rather detailed in what i have made and sold. Can you provide what you have made and sold. Also remember i havent got any of the story lines finished yet so i havnt got those trade goods yet. *Edit im not saying it wasnt a waste of time i just wanted to know some numbers(of things made and sold) so others could see if they might want to do what i did (holding in the bowl on purpose) I have the biologist, assn, and whaler as my only unlocked adventures. So im sure this might play a role since im missing 3 of them.
  14. I have finally made it to the pincers after trying to stay in the bowl as long as i could to get scrolls. In total i have 1 scrimshaw, the soup, full tetsu, almost full death lotus(missing two scrolls) So all and all it seems like a good deal i also collected trade goods in the bowl getting enough to sell 3 scrimshaws. I was making the tradable strenghth ones each sold between 2.3 and 2.5mil. I also made and sold about 170 soups from spices collected in the bowl i have 35 plate aswell, very little chi(3) and lacure(5). I think this is due to my lack of certain skills over 90. So in total 30 scrolls by trying to stay in the bowl? Success? or waste of time?
  15. I was able to sell mine for a little over 2mil.edit. I wanted to add this i think the idea of POP armour is good, but why not just add a set effect of 5% damage reduction on all hits or something along those lines since this is the best defensive amrour. It would more then likely make most of the people happy since even though it doesnt get the damage it gets something. Or if POP is really the poor mans gear lower the cost to repair it so it could be used on slayer tasks or lesser boss monsters (ie barrows, mole, GWD).
  16. Damn i never even got to try it out... They should make it like fish flingers then so you can still play even if your by yourself.
  17. I started last night but i think what im going to do from here out is... When i get home from work/gym 6ish(EST) im going to collect the previous days special mission/s today there will be 2 but im sure sometimes there will only be one. If the specials dont offers a scroll i wont do it unless there is a mission for trade goods. Im not going to do any standard missions at all. Im about 20 or 30% into the bowl so i can get 80% or more for all scroll and trade missions. so far i have death lotus chest, str scrimshaw, tetsu helm and one scroll down on tetsu chest. After a week or so ill update on how this is working out.
  18. I thinking about it more in the sense that after pincers unless there is an update thats it and in that region scroll missions are very hard and take a very long time to do and by that point you will have finished all the story lines and may of got items you cant use. So far i have unlocked a scrim one piece of the range gear and once piece of the melee gear. But i want a full set of both the ranger gear and melee gear. (im not that into magic). Basically what my bet would be is that its faster to get the scrolls i want in the bowl then finish the story lines for the trade goods and then get more trade goods in the pincers. What most are doing is by finishing story lines and trying to get scrolls and trade goods together in the pincers. I might be wrong who knows but to get 2 full untradable sets will take a really long time either way.
  19. I think its best to focus on Scrolls. I might freeze doing any more missions and only do adventurer missions for Scrolls. Since the mini game advances with distance getting only distance from Scrolls should really slow up travel from the bowl to pincers. It will take months anyway to get all the scrolls but i dont see any rush for me at this point since by the time i could make anything its not going to be worth top dollar. Im guessing something like 1 scroll every 2 days is about average? Honstly i wish i would have thought of this sooner while i was in the cherry region.
  20. I seem like i must be lucky in some ways so far I have seen about 7 or 8 10K Captains i own 5 of them My most recent is a combat one but he has no cursed traits came with 2 good traits and i have him going on a mission for awe inspiring. (Im only 8% into the bowl). The one thing i notice about my port vs some of others is I have a decent amount of chimes, 50K right now and thats after just buying the 10k capt. One thing i noticed is that if i could go back it would be much better to go very slow through the early regions. Keep your focus on arch(so you move much slower through each region) and do as many scrolls as possible during the early regions since the penalty for failure isnt much and the time involved is so much less. The way the scrolls come later on it will be a long long time before anyone gets all of them, since it looks like we cant get 100% anymore in the last region.
  21. My Barmaid gave me a mission for 250 bamboo grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I already have 4k bamboo that is useless as i have all the upgrades that use it.... Same with Gunpowder
  22. Its automatically added to the skill associated with the adventurer who supplied it. Automatic to the skill. Not sure if this is correct or not but i did one for the Whaler at 10K and i think when the chance for another XP tome from that Whaler it was 15K. So as you do the XP tomes they scale up??? Or are they just random like some are 10k and some are 15K maybe some 20k but just random??? Anyone know?
  23. Two questions... First is there any reason i have not got a mission yet for lacquar? (my first scroll unlock was for the range chest gear) Second once i get lacquar how would go about making the range gear in my workshop?( i dont see a hot spot for the range gear, only the magic and melee armour)
  24. Well i thought id just post this i guess i just have really horrible luck. I only have 2 scroll pieces anyone else been this unluckly? So far im 30% into the scythe im doing that switching thing to bang out some arch missions for my 3rd ship then back to cherywood overnight. I have failed about 6 or 7 scroll missions all with at least 60-80% chance of success.(i even used boosts pack things and still fail) Ohh one other thing i noticed i think the XP tomes go up as you get them. First tome is 10k in the skill then after you do that one the second in that same skill is 15k. Not sure how much the xp would keep going up anyone know? 20k next seems most likely but if it keeps climbing up to 50k or higher could be a nice way to get a little extra xp.
  25. OK has anyone else got the XP tome? I did the mission and saw 10000 xp go to the xp counter but never selected a skill and cant figure out where it went. I thought the 10k xp tome would go to the crew. So what happens to it?
