There is every few things i agree with MHL with but i agree it does seem like Jagex has gotten into this idea that without adding something new several times a month people will stop playing runescape. A great deal of the recent updates(not all of them just alot) for the past year or 2 have a "this has been added so we can say we added it and keep our players, playing for another 2 weeks until we add something else" feel to them. But like MHL said as parts most updates are fun to play but as a whole they dont really fit together well to create something that is greater then the sum of its parts.
  2. I recall reading that Jagex stated it wanted players to get half of the experience needed for 99 from quests and activities and the other half from grinding. Along with they said something like they had alot more quests and things to add in to the game to make that possible. So im not sure this has anything to do with them raising the level cap to 120 for everything.
  3. oddly enough after 9 years i have had 2 shield halves drop once in classic when they were worth massive amounts and once like over a year ago when it was only worth 65k.... Both times they were from stupidly low creatures like goblins. It took like what seemed forever to finally get a dragon picaxe, like 35 cannons later..... So i have never gone through any really long dry streaks or any massive amounts of drops streak either.
  4. I can recall when i had a chance to buy a whole party hat set(all colors) for 20k and said no becuase its a waste of limited bank space. Anyway i had a red phat and traded it for a yellow very early on after they dropped (still have it) anyway i would do double nats and try to get massive amounts of money maybe 1billion or so and try to snipe along the way.
  5. Ya i have to say it doesnt really matter how you play the game its your life and how you play and what makes you happy and enjoy the game is up to each player. Anyway I for the most part I DIY and started at the begining of 2001. I had 2 99s at the end of RS1 str and attack hp was at 97 and def was a at 95 if i recall(well im at work and i cant log into classic to check but i think those are the numbers) at one point i was the 97th best player on the fighter scores. Anyway check out my stats(im not saying they are good) they are 95% entirely DIY the only thing i buy is half the coal needed for smelting adam bars. This can give you an idea of what someone who plays nearly everyday for over 9 years, never took a break of more then a week, can do with DIY. I just play for fun dont care about grinding or 99 capes or any of that crap.

  7. I hope they dont change existing armours, but if anything add new better armours that include the negative attack bonuses.
  8. Fits me more than the other ones on this topic :) So far this one fits me best but i do have a foot and a hand and some other body parts in other categories also. I love letting people know i have played since the start of 2001.

If i had to guess what would happen if they were merged the cost of elemental runes would raise, essence would rise(assuming they used rune essence price and not pures price), member runes prices would settle a little lower then before after a crash. So in the end it would all be about the same profits from RCing.
  10. You forgot that eye ball creature from Big Trouble Little China... and about 1000 other eye ball creatures that have been around for 100s of years... Anyway my thoughts on this are even if you think you have a completely new and novel idea chances are in the past 2000 years of human creativity someone has already thought something very similar.

  12. They aren't inconsistent positions. Try actually thinking about it before going on the attack. The primary impact of this is not really to speed up XP, but rather to remove much of the point of herb seed drops and to make potions to easy to get. All other resources have much higher costs, such as ores or logs or plant fibers, so why are these so cheap? No the primary impact was to allow those with the herblore level to make nature/gather(and the other kind) potions to be able to open a greater range of "skill" doors leading to greater amounts of XP and an added bonus was to gain of faster xp because you can now as stated above make and use melee/defense potionsthrough out the most of the dungen. Either way no more food for you now.... (I really do like your site by the way lots of info)
  13. I bet thats the code for people who attend Runefest. You get some unique item or something. I really hope Jagex don't do this :\ GRRRRRR i really hope not either becuase a large amount of players live outside the UK and not many of them can afford to fly over for runefest.
  14. Weren't you just, two weeks ago complaining on how slow the dung xp was?? This can help quicken the pace of dung xp and you complain about it.... So which is it you want faster xp or what?.... More on topic thieving guild seems pretty cool and I like the buyable herbs and no shards/pounches, will save alot of time finishing dungens.
  15. @Ring No, English is my first language, I just fail hard at using it properly over the internet. I was just wondering if your information was fact or conjecture. I hope my wording didn't make it seem I was being facetious. I agree Runescape will be around after WOW loses its fan base.
  16. Yes but Runescape still has challenges to overcome that very few games can do forever. Like someone prieviously said, weve left the massive growth stage, and have entered the keep the old players stage. Hence why the average total lvls get higher and higher now and there are much more 99's. Jagex is going to have to get creative to create new growth or to keep the old players playing. Theyve been successful at doing this, the old players like you and me have acheivment diaries to do, new quests, and lvl 120 skill to get now. If jagex stopped making updates today it would take years for most of us to get bored and quit. However its an ongoing proccess and were sucked into it for a long time too. Next year will be 1 decade and im sure 5 years from that Runescape will still be popular but add another 5 years to that and im not so sure. How does we as a player base know Runescape is no longer growing? Is this a fact someone has seen runescapes membership list ?? Or last years numbers vs. the previous numbers? Or is this just speculation?

Really with the way the internet and data storage has advanced i dont think runescape will ever "die" Only way i see Runescape ending is if many years down the line the player base has dwindled to under 10k world wide and Jagex(The Gowers) sells its brand name to another company to cash out their lifes work. And that company decides to pull the plug on the remaining servers. All this is at least 20+ years down the line at least. Plus i could see Andrew keeping Runescape running with his own money aslong as there were some people who still wanted to play it. And i just dont ever see a time when no one will want to play runescape.

I know this is a little off of the current topics on this thread but i best suggestion to help make dungeneering better would along with high level items and books that the bosses drop there could be added a chance for them to drop amounts of tokens also based off of each persons dungeneering skill level. like if you have 5 dung you could have a chance to get up to 500 tokens but it would a random number between 1-500. Level 20 dung could get up to 2000 tokens. So we could get at the goodies a little bit faster. But since its a chance drop and its random number based on the dungeneering lvl it wont make getting tokens super easy just a bit faster and wont tie the tokens to 1/10 of each persons xp level.

This is what i dont understand about either the law staff or nature staff becuase they would have only been taking up one invo spot anyway and a 10% savings per rune is nothing compared to the amounts of other runes now needing to be used. I guess thinking about the nature staff could be good for binds using combo runes but not really either... I just cant think of any reason to use either of these staffs.....
  21. I got to try out the new skill yesterday and all i can say is I love it. Lots of fun, not easy, but not to hard either. I really like how you can get xp in other skills while playing, i have been doing it with just one partner and splitting the xp with them. There is certianly a very steep learning curve and it will take a little while to get used to everything. Only thing i think they should had is along with the name add what tier level each thing is becuase that can get confusing and wastes time examining each thing when a monster dumps like 6 things on the floor. Overall though :thumbsup: Big tumbs up i love it.

Well im stuck at work but from what i have been reading it seems more like a minigame but its also seems like it will be very fun reminds me of Zelda and getting through the dungeons or towers to fight the bosses at the end of them. I love the update but as a skill it can not be ground out like most of the skills and i couldn't see myself going through 1 or 2 dungeons in a session it would get too repetitive.
  24. Id say your on the money Phats are way too rare to ever crash and they are only slowly becoming more rare. What is the "street value" in GP for 5 Santas 2 green masks 1 blue and a yellow p hat?
