Today...
Oh that seems about right. Haha yeah I heard it was a pain in the [wagon] to get your licence in Aussie. We can get it here at 15. Infact if you sit all your tests as soon as you can and do a defensive driving course you can get your full licence at age 16 and a half. Tomorrow I have to get up at 4.30 am as I'm going on an early morning swimming trip, with Dolphins. Should be pretty awesome, I kight post some pics later if I get some.

Whaling
I think in New Zealand's case, members of the goverment are afraid of imposing sanctions against Japan, or boycotting their products because Japan is an important economic trading partner. Well both parties are cearly at fault, if you look at the video from the other Sea Shepherd vessel, you can see that the Japanese boat clearly turns towards the Ady Gil.

Whaling
Well I posted a link to a Youtube Channel that has all three videos. Well I don't really agree with that. The problem with the modern whaling fleets is that it makes it so easy to kill large numbers of whales, very quickly. Sure, they won't be able to kill whales as easily or quickly in little wooden boats, but it still an inhumane method of killing. As well as that it endangers the life of whalers. Whales are similar to humans in regards to reproduction: they take a fair amount of time to reach sexual maturity (up to 20 or so in some species), only give birth to one offspring at time and the offspring is dependant on the mother for several years. Because of this, the populations take a very, very long time to recover - especially compared to fish, you can't just leave them for a few years and expect their numbers to rebound easily. So even these "scientific" killings are endangering whale populations and hindering population recovery.

Is it very expensive in the UK? You guys are lucky though, cos you have a really good public transport system (when it's not frozen :P). We don't here, that's why most people have cars. I dunno. The lessons themselves cost a lot from what I've heard, at least over £1000 in total and the provisional is like £75 I think then you need a car and insurance... I think in general it's not TOO expensive it's just we have no money =/ And yeah, the public transport we have has always worked for me. I'll be sticking with it for the foreseeable future  Provisional is £50 Lessons, they depend on how much the place charges and the amount of lessons. You do not require your own car and insurance for lessons. Most, if not all, places will provide a car and you'll technically be insured with it, most likely it'll be a learner's car with a brake and something on the passenger side. I've hired one of those before for lessons with my Dad. It actually wasn't too expensive for an hour or two. 1000 pounds for lessons? are you kidding? I never had paid lessons, I just had some instruction from family and practice driving around.

Whaling
Just because something is "long running", why does that mean it should continue? War and racism are both "long running", but do you think they should continue unopposed? And Sea Sheperd are not taking a stab at Asians, or just Japan - they are highly crictical of governments around the world that have so far been ineffectual in prevent further slaughter of whales.

Whaling
It's not so much eating I disagree with, it the fact that whales are critically endangered, yet thousands are slaughtered as part of scientific research. Research which is "deemed" necessary in order to gain tissue samples in order to understand more about whale population. These tissue samples end up in Japanese fish markets... It's pretty obvious that non-lethal research methods can be used, as both New Zealand and Australian studies have been under taken. And I feel for Pete Bethune, he has put a lot into his boat, his house has been mortaged 3 times, and now his vessel lies on the bottom of the Antartic.

Whaling
I'm not how many of you are aware of this story, but a few days ago Japanese whalers and memembers of the anti-whaling organisation Sea Shepherd clashed in the Antartic ocean. In this encounter a Japanese ship and a New Zealand registered ship collided, cutting the smaller protesting vessel in two at the bow. The full story can be found here Both sides are blaming each other for the incident, and it appears they are both at fault for the incident. All three videos of the incident can be viewed on this Youtube account. Sea Shepherd have been critised by many, including the goverments of Australia and New Zealand for their behaviour, as it endangers lives at sea... What is your opinion of the actions of both parties? Personally I support the actions of Sea Shepherd, I think governments have been far too passive in their attempts to prevent whaling. For many years whales have been blatantly slaughtered under the guise of "scienctific research".

New Year's resolutions?
I swear you linked to the exact same thing on the new years resolution thread last year Yes, I did, and people are making the same mistakes. Same problem same solution. "Lose weight"; "Get more active"; "Build some muscle"; "Get healthy", "Get ripped", etc. ad infinitum. You don't define a goal, you won't make it. And if you don't take it in steps or learn to appreciate the little gains you definitely won't make it. You'll just be that crowd I see every January at the gym that seems to magically dissappear by February. Don't be in that crowd. I despise that crowd. "Become a better person"; "Get better grades"; "Do better in school"; "Take chances", etc. Ambiguous resolutions, because they aren't defined, are hard to accomplish and offer little drive. Don't forget to account for human nature. The resolutions are definitely better than last year: more realistic and defined (the health ones are the main problem I'd say). Still, if you don't change the way you state your goals you'll probably fail at 'em. Or rather, you'll succeed but nowhere near the level you want. You don't have to listen to me if you don't want, but this stuff is backed by science. SCIENCE. Science is never wrong. Like, ever. Watch commercials, that's what they say. Some of might just not feel the need to be specific online, but to make you feel better, I shall be. Just look up to see my edited post. Oh God I remember having to do do all that goal setting crap in P.E. I have never been one to set goal, maybe why I never achieve anything lol. And Mage aren't you a bit young to go clubbing just yet? I am currently, but remember that the resolution is for the year, I intend to have all the things done by the end of the year. Awww so no fake ID yet? Not that I endorse the use of a fake ID, of course...

Cricket!
Hmm this is interesting: http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/443007.html Seems like a prety big calim Modi made, surely he'd have some kind of basis for his claims. However Chris Cairns is a very respected cricketer and gentleman, and these claims are a very big attack on his character...

Creepy. I hate when my IRL friends look at my internets. They still tease me about going on this "RuneScape" forum and secretly read all my posts like bottom-feeding leeches. Yes Jordan, I know you are reading this. Yeah It's interesting how we seperate our "real lives" from our internet lives. Sort of. I don't think any of my friends know tip.it exists, let alone that I have an account...
