  1. Who lied to you? A dev on contract runs about $55K in the states, and a skilled full-time dev can cost upwards of $75K. Even as an entry level dev (< 2 years experience) I pull in something between that. Add in some QA effort to ensure things run smooth, and maybe a few hallway testers, and you're looking at $200K for your costs of a small team (2 developers, 1 QA). Not just that, but wouldn't it suck if your job was maintaining over a million lines of code, especially if bugs and performance issues had already been ironed out in a newer version of the software? The difference here is that everything has already been developed, and tested for that matter to make sure bringing back the server was even possible. Only things they have to develop is a way to make 07 and current chat systems integrate.
  2. I see no reason for all the hate. The resources required to make this project work are so miniscule; it's already created content, and they have basically already done the work in testing to see if they could actually do it. If you don't look back on the past with "rose-tinted glasses", than simply don't vote. Your silence will be heard.
  3. So did funorb. So did that space-runescape game they were making (I forget the name). So did/does transformers. People need to stop acting like this is going to be some massive investment. They already successfully tested it. A handful of people getting old software and servers up and running isn't going to be a major project. The thing is I'm not telling anybody to vote or not, I honestly don't care if people vote it up. If you don't vote and don't play it, even if you DO vote and don't play it, why would it matter at all to you how people were playing on it?
  4. 2007 RS is a completely seperate and different game than current RS. He won't be playing it. I don't see how what people do on a game you don't play can bother you is what I am saying.
  5. I doubt it would be as extreme as your projected statistics say, but even if it was, what would that matter to you? It is a completely different and seperate game. Do botters in WOW not sit well with you either?
  6. Resource removal/stretching is such a low concern for me. All that causes is an update to be potentially delayed or buggy (which happens almost every update already).
  7. I definitely had more fun playing back then than I do now. That said, I probably wouldn't get near the same amount of enjoyment if they go ahead with this. I'm all for it, however. Yes it will get botted... who cares, all versions of RS always have been and always will be botted to shit. It's a unique chance to attempt to relive my nostalgia, and that doesn't happen often. I'll vote for it. Hopefully it hits the amount of votes required to not pay 15$ for it, because that is absurd.
  8. Why drink 95% of the milkshake to just stop? Because you got sick of the milkshake. Why would suomi only finish 95% of the 5b xp? Because he got sick of jagex. Now can we all stop this nonsense debating? Because most people don't set a goal of finishing a milkshake. It just says something about a person to set a goal, spend so much time and energy getting there, and giving up on the final stretch.
  9. Why run 95% of a marathon to just stop? Walk to the finish if you have to, or it's all a wasted effort. My guess is he will take a break and come back and finish it out.
  10. I agree the xp yeild for infusing pouches is fast xp/hr. That's why they nerfed it to 1.2x xp after the first weekend. I'm not exactly sure why they are reverting back to the old way, and in fact making it "worse" because it's a 2x xp constant. That said, I still don't see this as game breaking. As with every bxpw, there is going to be more people levelling than normal. Never has been that bad. This won't be that bad.
  11. You have to count charm gathering as part of the Summoning skill, not just infusing pouches. If the guy spent the last year getting 200k charms because he wants a high rank, then how is it bad that he all of a sudden has this opportunity to cash in? He still put in the work and time required to get all those charms. It's not a 30x multiplyer.
  12. Isn't that the whole point of bxpw? You get it done twice as fast. As you said, you and many other players spent all this time collecting large stocks of charms to get said level. That is time already spent. Yes, now it will take you further than originally anticipated. Yes, you now have a couple weeks to spend getting supplies. You have to get half the amount of supplies for said level. Isn't this a good thing? I don't see how people getting higher summoning levels than planned is game breaking. If they wanted it they would eventually get it anyway.
  13. And if the bxpw was announced months in advance and it was made known that summoning would be 2x the whole time, then I could see this being a bigger deal. Being as is, announced a couple weeks ahead, with NOBODY planning or banking on it being 2x summoning, it's not "game breaking".
  14. It's a factor of 2x xp rates. Normal summoning is already fast xp once you have the charms and supplies. This is 2x xp. NOT 30x. You're making too big a deal of this.
  15. They changed it to that Monday at noon so is now 2 full days of bonus xp.
  16. 1) 400 Green Dragonhide 2) Dragon Dagger 3) Brew/Restore 4) Dragon Dagger, Sapphire Thanks Nex.
  17. Gotta love checking the spam folder every now and then.
  18. "To make this even more extreme this is also a fully pvp server, meaning the whole world is multiperson pvp zoned so you can get piled by a clan at any time. The exception to this rule is entire cities are pvp free as are "civilization zones" such as guilds are pvp free. Guards/NPCs in cities are unattackable and unpickpocketable meaning that you would have to go out into danger to train virtually every skill." No. I absolutely love your creativity, but a gametype such as this is beyond approachable. Will never, could never, won't ever happen. If RuneScape went into the mode of creating servers specific to a group of people's gametypes, this would be a different story. HOWEVER, as the game is now, this will never happen. Fun idea though :) Edit: I feel I didn't answer the questions in the OP. Would I play this? No. I've spent too much time on my account to waste time on a noob account that is basically a pure just to survive. I think it would be such a limited success to RuneScape that it wouldn't be worth the developer's time implementing. Yes, it sure as hell would add new interesting gameplay elements for the people who would like this addition to the game. The people wanting this are most likely in clans and are hoping to kill and loot normal players. Honestly.
  19. What legs are those in the clue if you don't mind me asking?
  20. I find this so far down the the bottom of the list of things to [bleep] about
  21. .... or from buying GP, or scamming other people, or botting themeselves. Honestly, there is a very small portion of income from people who lost gambles and decide to make it back in an honest way. That is a very optimistic way to think, but I believe it's a bit blind. Mining ore and killing dragons for money is a thing of the far past.
  22. I am a complete noob with DKs. Not ashamed. But how long did that kill log trip of 183 DKs take? I am curious.
