The Big Chinchompa & Boost Your Bank! (28th of August)
Nopenope replied to Pirkka's topic in General Discussion
Sorry. This may just be me. But I am sick of people acting mad and or surprised at these updates. WE ALL KNOW the road the game is going down. Most updates now are going to slowly compound the already heavily placed microtransaction MMO scheme. YES they will eventually sell weapons, armour and most likely gold. Stop pretending you're surprised. If it upsets you so much, there are thousands of other games to play. YES it is sad to see this game sprint down this path. Am I surprised at the inevatible? No. -
Don't understand why people seem surprised and/or complain about these sort of updates. Get ready for freaky fall and all the fun that will come with that.

Certain Corrupt Mod Oblivious to Recent Update?

Lol Forum drama. Nothing new. Unfortunately the only people who care about it are the ones being banned. What do you want us to do? -
What really happened regarding the GP dupe - 80B/HR
Nopenope replied to jack994's topic in General Discussion
I agree with you there. I don't think the actual gold market can keep up with the kind of gp they were bringing in. If someone was actually able to sell lets say $500,000 worth of gold in a month, or even a few months, there would be WAY more people/companies/investors trying to dip their paws into the mix. Even if it was secluded to only a few gold selling sites. That kind of money doesn't just appear out of nowhere these days and go unrecognized to a few hacker's banks. -

The taxes on lump sums the size of this would be around if not over 50%. Then take away the % the legal fees would be to fend off Jagex and any money laundering charges, you would be left with much less than what you started with, but still not a bad amount from a computer game. -

What really happened regarding the GP dupe - 80B/HR

I would have if I was 100% certain I could do so without any legal troubles. I've got student loans to pay and crippling medical debt. But there's no way I could reach absolute certainty with something like that, so I wouldn't have. I kind of think those who tried to sell their abused earnings might not have thought through how badly a criminal offense can [bleep] up your life. With 20 minutes of this dupe and reselling the GP at wholesale they could have easily gotten a lawyer and bank account in Panama, a tax and banking haven. A few hours worth of the dupe and they could afford a new house and car in another country. I think its safe to say these guys are set for life and Jagex putting their names on the front page only inflates their egos. I think saying any of them are "set for life" is a bit of a stretch. It takes more than 6 figures to retire these days. -

That's sick lol. Grats. -
I don't understand the question. Why did he leave? Because he most likely realized his game was at or just past its peak in prime, and at that point he was poised to make a LOT of money. I DO NOT blame him for leaving. If I was in his boots, I would do the same exact thing. I actually have asked why Marc Z didn't sell facebook it its prime. I can respect a man for sticking it through thick and thin for something he created, but I also can respect a man for collecting his due for the same thing. Andrew Gower outlived the dotcom boom and flourished. I congratulate him for what he's done. I blame the newer CEOs for selling the game out. Not him. I doubt I'll ever know or play his upcoming game(s) but I HOPE, and hope is a strong word, that they may receive the same sort of success that RuneScape did. However, I doubt it. Not this day and age.

I think some games aren't meant to move from the computer; Runescape is one of them.
-
I'm more or less thinking this, except I think there will be new monsters. "Theres a new Slayer Dungeon on the horizon with a great atmosphere and new, interesting combat tactics, packed with new enemies to destroy and loot to acquire." I really do hope it is also a way to help slayers avoid bot infested areas like with kuradal's dungeon. I DO hope you're right, I love me some Slayer. However, I know better than to get my hopes up. ;-)
-
I doubt there will be any new monsters to kill. Whenever there has been recently, they ususally hype the crap out of them long before release (Aquanites, Strykewyrms). Probably just another Kuradel's dungeon for the other slayer tasks that aren't in there. ( Abby specs, black demons/drags etc.)

Well seeing as I don't go out of my way to level on bxpw, it IS just part of my membership. I haven't seen all these people you're claiming to say how it's the best thing ever. I didn't see eveybody saying they were going to quit because of RAF either. And it seems that you are having trouble discerning between the fact that BXPW is there for your ONE membership, while RAF want's you to buy MULTIPLE memberships to get the xp. Getting bonus xp for "free" in my current membership is a LOT different than paying DOUBLE for it.
-
It's smart marketing. They do things like this at the end of every summer. Would you be this upset if they came out with something like a new type of GWD? Either way they are coming out with member's content that is going to make people want to play. Their job is to make people want to play. As stated by Serena, there is a clear difference between normal members benefits, and the benefits from RAF.
-
For a lot of people, BXPW is going to fall within their current membership anyway, so they have no choice. Refer a friend is a conscious effort.
-
Not that many that I've seen.
-
Seen these yet? One of the Chinese goldfarming warehouses. All of these computers have multiple bots running at once. Now, if this is just ONE of many goldfarm locations in China, how can they say they don't make money off these memberships? They must pay their anti-bot people a LOT of money.

23-Aug-2011 New Rewards for Minigames
Nopenope replied to brainymidget's topic in General Discussion
Borrowing "power" is a huge disappointment... requiring 99 mage to use at the most a level 79 spell... The troll tele is useful, but only saves about 20 seconds.. Hopefully at least this will be good: "In other news... In Morytania, as the moon waxes red, the gloom grows close and oppressive and whispers in the dark become harder to ignore. The men and women of Burgh de Rott dare not speak of the impending darkness, but the voices of innocents still ring clearly in that murky fenland town..." -
I only say such things in retrospect because when I first started, there weren't RWT autotypers in every world, everywhere you went. I actually joined members because I was frustrated with all of the agility shortcuts around I couldn't use. From there on I ran my own course on RS. If I hopped in the f2p game now as a new player, and saw nothing but RWT advertisers, I would be MUCH less inclined to join to members. I can look at myself 7 years ago and say that in confidence.

Trust me, I hope the same thing. *shrugs* we can only wait an see.

One of the biggest reasons I rarely play now and am playing better games. This. The value of money is extremely low, and there's no incentive to make money. What would I do with it if I grinded something to make money? Spend it on resources to grind skills? Everything revolves around a grind, and so in the end it all seems pointless. That realization was what killed my interest in the game. This. There is no incentive as a high level to go on and play (unless you have the urge to max out skills). A new GWD type thing needs to be released. High level combat areas with high risk/reward are a constant must. I hope someday SOON they realize this, because most updates lately are geared towards training skill faster. I don't understand how THEY don't understand the need for high level repeatable content. People in this game like killing challenging things over and over. Look at corp beast. Full teams still go there because it's a great risk/reward piece of content. Meh. They gotta wake up. Not even a year after Nex was released and we already see "We need a new GWD boss". I never said we need a new GWD boss. I said we need a new GWD type place. A place which gives people reason to train their stats up. When GWD came out, so many people trained their asses off to get the good stats to last long there and reap the benifets. Instead of giving people methods to train skills faster, they need to give people NEW reasons to train their skills. That is where they have failed. They have consistently given us quicker means to an end, yet the end is fruitless. Instead of giving us all the xp boosts, give us something where it is useful to use the high levels we can quickly get. And no, 1 boss every year and a half is not enough for me. -
I kind of wish I was around at the time.. I started back in '04 and things were golden for a long time. But those indeed were the good ol' days. At this point we can only hope for a better future. Literally all forums on every fansite, rsof, and even a botsite I saw on Jib's YT vid are fed up with things.

Jagex to develop Transformers MMO for 2012.
Nopenope replied to Sylpheed's topic in General Discussion
Clever! =D> I couldn't watch the entire above video because when the goof started giggling so did I :P Simon and Lewis are great <3 -
This is what I said earlier: "It's really sad how Jagex is just trying to make as much money as possible without caring about anyone's achievements or anything... can't say I am surprised though, this is nothing new from Jagex and I am sure they will come up with something even worse. The whole world is about money. I won't be quitting though. Updates like effigies annoyed me so much more even though it wasn't anything like this referee thing. I lost all my respect for Jagex long time ago. I still love this game a lot but it's very sad and disappointing to see what Jagex is doing to this game. Won't blame anyone for quitting, I would probably quit too if I wasn't this "close" to 200M all skills. I have a feeling that Jagex will come up with something even worse before I will get 200M all skills. It's really a shame what Jagex is doing to this game." I will probably use it if someone wants to get referred by me =P It's really a sad fact that one of the top players who is really putting most of his time on this game still hates it's developers. Shows how ppl don't respect Jagex anymore. I used to, but this update was the final straw for me and I can no longer trust Jagex. Just wait until they start offering items or gold for cash straight up. The way management runs the show now, I give it 2 years max until we see that.
