  1. So me being a bit oblivious, I agreed to a friend trying to set me up on a date before I saw the other guy. I've told him what I'm interested in, but... He sent me pictures at some point and I didn't find the guy attractive but I thought hey, maybe his photos are bad. We texted back and forth and he came across a bit needy... ...so to prevent my having to in the future say I'm not interested, I dressed really girly (blush + miniskirt + long socks + blouse + [bleep]ing cute vest). I think it worked. He was taken aback (and not in a positive way) by how I was dressed judging by his initial reaction, so I think I was able to let him down indirectly. was that bad I don't like conflict lol it's annoying

I think this came out mostly great! Arms need to be slightly ... thicker? and I think her right hand looks kinda weird.

Today my boss asked me what my pronouns are. I thought that was pretty awesome.

There's nodes like "FindNearbyCombatTarget" that have filters, and these filters can query things about potential targets. For example, Skelementals won't attack you if you're wearing tin or copper equipment (or are undead). Similarly, nodes like "GatherNearbyResource" need to query the GameDB for info about the props nearby. The GameDB stores info about all the relationships in the game; it's immutable, but queries can get complex (think GraphQL, except not GraphQL). Game state will be serialized to something called PlayerStorage lazily so actual disk I/O isn't a problem. ... I may have found an exploit in the RuneScape client (re: login process) that allows third-party programs to steal your password at any point after logging in, and is much more reliable than a keylogger... Jagex made a whoopsy. If someone were to find an remote code execution exploit in a program that a lot Scapers use, they could then retroactively obtain login details without having to wait for the user to login. gotta make a proof of concept and get paid plsssssssss

Lua doesn't have many profilers so I nail down functions with custom profiling functions until I find the general area of the bottleneck. Then I used a more fine-grained approach with something called ProFi. ProFi is not too reliable with LuaJIT but it's good enough. My AI framework is taking up the most time now but I'll optimize that later. It's probably hitting the GameDB too often. I went from ~5 FPS on Android to ~20 FPS with other optimizations. Want to hit 30 FPS. I use lerp to allow from framerate independent rendering. My game could run at any FPS without any graphical artifacts. The logic runs at 10 FPS. There's a whole bunch of tweening functions that are great for adding polish to simple animations. Smoothstep is a good one!

I changed a single function (~4 LOC) and boosted FPS on lower-end CPUs to get 60 FPS. Wow. It was my Vector lerp function... I inlined the math instead of using operator overloads. I also added a useful notification when you can't do something: Pretty nifty...

I want to change my name for a few reasons... Largely because I'm named after my father and my father has been nothing in my life. Secondarily because I want to opt for a gender-neutral name. I've settled on Erin Maus. Unsure about the middle name right now: thinking Eliot, after my favorite poet. "Erin Eliot Maus" sounds very nice, too. ...but it looks very confusing. It's been eating at me for a while but today I asked my brother and he's okay with it so I'm thinking of going ahead before the holidays. I won't tell my extended family ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
  8. People are genuinely surprised if I confide in them I have depression and 'high-functioning' schizophrenia. You learn to hide it.

here's a banker that doesn't lobby the us gubberment ...yet. Really like the design for Isabelle's armor: She's wearing custom, inferior temporium (tier 80) which will rendered useless by the eldritch beacon you obtain somewhere in the final dungeon. Gotta design her dress...

If the Democrats fail during the mid-terms we're [bleep]ed.
  11. Is it normal for people you've been talking to to just stop talking to you? For example, a girl I thought I was friends with (we hung out a few times outside of school and between classes) just stopped talking to me a few weeks after class, and her girlfriend acted weird and dismissive when I bumped into her later. There's about 4 other examples this one just stings the most. There's got to be something wrong with me... I just feel so lonely and I'm /really really really/ tired of it. Stress over relationships (not just intimate/romantic) in general has been indescribable and 1) I don't know why 2) the stress is causing major delusional thinking

Well today (yesterday) was a day! Went to work. Went to lunch but my car didn't start. Oooooookay. Tried jump starting it, still didn't work. Was like "shit I have to be in Charlotte tonight." On the bright side, I thought well it's good it decided to crap out on me in Fayetteville and not 150 miles and 2.5 hours away. So my insurance pays to have it towed to the dealership. They give me a quote of $800 if it's the starter + labor. I'm like, great, that's wonderful. (It's not.) Friend I was going to take to the concert instead picks me up and we go. On the way there I get a call about my car: turns out the battery was just really bad. It's 1/4th the cost ($130 is the diagnostic they did during on the starter + alternator + etc after replacement battery but oh well, $200 is a lot better than $800). We go to the concert. Billie Eilish (never heard of her but she's pretty good) is the opening act. Florence + the Machine comes on and it's amazing. She's great live, she's very positive and enduring and awesome. She played my favorite songs from her new album plus a few other favorites (closes with Shake It Out, one of the opening songs was Dog Days Are Over). During one of the songs she ran around the general admissions crowd, on another she was held up by ... the crowd or security, unsure. Loved the twirly dancing haha. On the way back we stopped at Jack in the Box. They're really good... there's none near us in Fayetteville (AFAIK they're mostly a west coast thing?). Drive to and from Charlotte was good. Talked with my friend a lot about all kinds of crap. Overall 9/10. Would've been 10/10 but 1) the car 2) I had a minor delusional episode on the way back. (Country roads are creepy as [bleep] at night). Also seats were pretty good:

banks work Some issues with sorting but I'll fix that later. Need an icon for the "bank" tab. Will implement individual tabs, searching, and other features in the future but not until after the fully armed and operational demo. Never once despite numerous errors during development did I duplicate an item. The ItemBroker has proven itself worthy so far. It's 1,000 lines of code that manages all item transactions. Overkill but worth it IMO. Anger can be a powerful motivator.
  16. idk if I said it here but I'll never had good shirtless photos because I have way too much loose skin
  17. alright I'll just do the other nuclear option and delete my okcupid profile lol I'll create a new one later that presents as straight when I (wrongly) think things will be different. My therapist agrees I should stop dating anyway. It's too depressing. I've been only rejected half a dozen times in the last few weeks so I'm feeling kinda low.
  18. I'm sure you're right but I'm still going to try. Only because she literally hasn't been on OkCupid since I sent my last message (ergo she hasn't read it) and all the banter before was good afaik.
  19. 1. She's the only interesting person I've matched with out of the last half a dozen recently. 2. Wouldn't it be like other relationships? E.g., putting in a resume vs having a friend/employee recommend you at said company. Then again I guess you could argue I failed the interview???
  20. yeah except I have a secret advantage: we have a friend in common I shall attempt to utilize this nuclear option if she doesn't reply by this weekend

The Director manages Systems and Entities. Entities (they have little state; they're composed of Components) are added to the Director, which then notifies Systems. Systems filter the Entities based on things; for example, the CombatSystem only works on Entities with CombatStatus, CombatTarget, Movement, and Position components; the movement system works on any Entity with a MovementComponent and PositionComponent; etc. Entities have minimal logic; they just mostly manage things like resources and event management. The Systems perform the bulk of the logic. Components have no logic; they simply store state. It's called an Entity-Component-System (ECS). I named systems Cortexes after my RuneScape ... tool, entities Peeps after Rollercoaster Tycoon (unnamed Peeps are called 'Guest #X' where X is their Peep ID), and components Behaviors because why not. At least this naming makes sense. The implementation is simple: https://github.com/aaronbolyard/itsyscape/blob/master/itsyscape/ItsyScape/Peep/Director.lua Initially, Director was going to expose a generic interface to do things like perform actions, and the implementation was going to be different client/server side, but that got moved over to Model. Woops.
