  1. Besides, iirc they are planning on releasing a second tier for 10 years, they just need to wait a while until their records coincide with that achievement.
  2. I suppose this is something you'd have better seen for yourself. Because it did work. It helped immerse me into the game world. Very rarely did I see anyone who chose to become a lawless murderer atone and try to become divine to access its content until months had passed and they had a change of heart. They were immersed. You aren't Timmy anymore, you become your character. It requires a completely different mindset. It's a pity, but in Runescape no one plays this game to be their character. It's a MMO with RPG elements. It's why I said earlier it's just a dream. Grrar, forum crashed an my reply was deleted, I'll try to recreate it. Honestly, I just can't see this pre-established community embracing full on rping. I personally do try to play as my character rather than myself, but it's small scale. And look at the major goal of the community right now: 200mil all skills. This is a focus not on storytelling, character, or rping but rather on making full use of efficiency, bringing mechanics to its knees, and in short a focus on metagaming. And this focus is not just in runescape, think about how mage builds in WoW are focused not on classes of magic for the character (Is he an ice or fire mage in relation to his personality) but rather for efficiency purposes (Which deals more dps). I'm not saying that shouldn't happen, it sounds like a very interesting game, but it's not what our community focuses on and it's not what I'm here for; I don't want to play in this world where I need an earnest change of heart to access all the content that I want.
  3. Oh please. What did you do to earn your citizenship? Simply being born? If everyone has to 'earn' their citizenship, we all should start over at 18 and work our way up. That way, we magically know who should benefit America. I was raised and educated here for my whole life so I think I've already earned it thank you so much. So you've earned your stay by using up the public resources? The same thing the children of immigrants do? Illegals were raised and educated in a DIFFERENT country. They have no standards to become citizens because first off, they may not know how the law works (which is a clear indication of why they border hop in the first place) Ignoring the children of illegal immigrants who would attend US schools and learn here, why does education constitute citizenship? Why doesn't community building, or working jobs no one else will take make you a part of a country? And just because they choose to forgo the law (Which, by the way illegal immigration is a CIVIL MISDEMEANOR, the same level of punishment when your neighbor complains if your lawn isn't tidy) doesn't mean they don't understand it or wouldn't follow it in all cases. They may not speak our languages and since they're education is worth crap that it doesn't count, they even take jobs away from people who have NO hope and education. They don't have hope or education either, and in all honesty few natural born citizens are competing for the jobs which illegal immigrants take on a regular basis. It might also interest you that illegal immigrants paid more federal taxes than GE, they contribute more to society than you know.
  4. Let's say you were absolutely evil. The very bottom of the bar. That meant you couldn't gain access to towns not controlled by corrupted guards and you were fair game for every divine player to kill without penalty. The only way to raise this bar to neutral is to either enter a lawless zone and help people out there, or idle and skill for hours in that same zone and other, similar zones. Logging out to wait for it to go back up won't work. And in the meantime there were other players in those places out for your head or simply didn't like you being around their territory. The limitations aren't permanent. So yes, you could eventually access the content of both sides. Which really means you're truly, absolutely the "neutral" type. The point of the system is to have consequences on how the game world reacts to you based on your choices. But that's what I'm saying as well: it limits you. Not permanently in the scenario you outlined which I found pretty interesting, but I still wouldn't be able to access the "good" and "bad" content in close proximity, and what would be the benefits of using certain towns? Do the divine areas have better non-combat skilling spaces but limit the amount of bosses you can kill before you're seen as overly aggressive? Do the demonic areas have a ge which increases prices because everyone's a thief, but higher combat exp gains? And what about content released for one side or another, especially when it comes to things that need to be maintained like quest capes or completionist capes? The need to switch between alliances would be annoying as hell. Plus, wouldn't npcs notices you switching alliances all the time? I mean, if they're sharp enough to notice you being a [puncture] why wouldn't they be confused when you're Hitler half the time and Gandhi the other half? I just like what runescape offers, that you can have your cake and eat it too, have all skills and abilities maxed and access all the content all of the time.
  5. But wouldn't those consequences by definition limit what you're able to do? I mean if you had this bar, and you were evil, you shouldn't be able to do something someone on the good side can, either through a punishment or reward system. And if you can access everything from both sides, then what's the point of the system at all? EDIT: Besides, I'm not sure a black and white, or even black/gray/white system would work with the current mythos. I mean we have gods based on perpetuating war and nothing else, not exactly "good" but he did fight against the big bad with the generically "good" gods. Or what about Zaros and his (Theoretical) system of pragmatism over ideology? And what about the pantheon of desert gods? It'd need to be a multi-dimensional scale which would either need to have LOTS of backstory and explanations, or just boil down to "Do you help or kill the followers of x god?" And, like I said before, I'm not sold on the idea of morality either. Not being a jerk mind you, I still try to treat people with a basis of empathy and compassion, but the idea that everything has quantifiable absolute units of positive and negative strikes me as arbitrary and possibly dangerous.
  6. I dunno, the idea that the choices one makes on a morally good vs. evil scale (Which I don't entirely buy into from the get-go) makes the world a bit more interactive, but also limits what you can do with each character. I've always thought an advantage of runescape over things like WoW is, barring pvp requiring certain builds, you can do everything with one character rather than choices limiting what you can do later on in the game. Personally if the game were to have me be good or evil the first thing I'd do is look at the list of bonuses/buffs I'd get from my choice and choose the one that's better (Unless they were truly balanced, which I doubt). If we're talking about what we'd prefer our characters to do interacting with others, I'd make the same choices for the most part but I just wish my character wasn't such a dumb-ass.
  7. You mean Prince of Egypt? Not being condescending, I just don't know of an animated film called King of Egypt, but Prince of Egypt is [bleep]ing spectacular. Yeah, that one (the one with moses and ramses), the portuguese title is translated into "King of Egypt" :P Interesting, I wonder if King and Prince have different connotations in Portuguese and English, but anyway... I think the thing about " it's over anthropomorphizing" is probably just a fear of, "Dude, does this make me a furry?" And no, no it doesn't; there certainly are aspects of it in certain parts of the fanbase, but they're completely avoidable and not required to enjoy the show on its own merits. Besides, if you look at any fan base grounded in or that's part of nerd culture you're bound to find a furry aspect to it somewhere, guaranteed.

  9. And I'd like to remind you that this is a cartoon, and we can give personalities to just about everything. You familiar with this gem of animation? Technically those have less of a place being given a personality than a horse, since animals can have varying traits and qualities, and are actually alive. Still, lighten up, the characterization is very good but they do keep in mind that they are supposed to be somewhat horse-like and put that in the show. For instance all of the regular characters are vegetarians, and they aren't given thumbs (Unlike another animation icon Bugs Bunny, unless you hate him too...) and often have to manipulate objects in creative ways. Breaks from reality are nice, and often tales or shows that aren't about humans can provide not only entertainment but insight into what it means to be human (Aesop's Fables comes to mind).
  10. It's just red hot, probably just a normal short sword; the spear tip looked that color too until it cooled down. And to the treasure I got cut and uncut rubies, green d'hide, law runes because they staked in my invy and I'm running out, and once 5k coins.
  11. Kinda lame that the major challenge of the later tracking levels can be negated by just clicking the compass <_< Meh quest, decent exp, everything got me to 75 hunter so I guess I shouldn't complain.
  12. Just bought Fantasia/Fantasia 2k on DVD and watched the first one, it'd been a while and it's one of my favorite movies.
  13. Not really big on fanfics, unless you count Cupcakes, but let's not go there. Mostly I just follow people on tumblr/dA that post fan art and I get community news through them.
  14. Considering the amount of competition at most bosses and the high reqs shouldn't you be focusing on dps anyway? It'll help to keep your kills and if you're healing with soulsplit it helps, plus you should have a uni or ovls to heal with brews anyway. If you need an sgs at bosses you're probably not doing them well and should spend the money on skills/other gear first.
  15. You don't need to sgs on spirit mage tasks because you can easily carry all needed prayer pots in your invent (don't even need that many, too). Try again. +1 The dps of claws or a dds would be more valuable than the minor prayer boost of the sgs (Which can miss as well). Not to mention since dragon boots have bombed in price they're not really worth doing as a task. EDIT: You probably save around 1 dose of prayer pot per 5 mins, which would be 3 ppots per hour which is like 12k. And the whole "Love it or hate it, can't change that" doesn't change whether something is "worth it" or not in a manner we can answer. He asked us, and we can only provide objective information to help; any subjective value he adds to the sgs to determine whether he buys it or not is nothing we can influence, but we can continue to show how poor it is objectively.
  16. Hard to get up from the chair when you haven't sat down in the first place
  17. Erm I enjoy Pinkie Pie a lot, but the times she gets on my nerves she really irritates me, and Applejack's alright but she never really caught on with me. Lastly, Fluttershy is mai waifu, and that's all I have to say.
  18. My fave's Twilight Sparkle. As to Spnips and Snails they're about as fleshed out as most female character's in boy-oriented shows, basically if you're looking for a male character to identify with you're limited to Spike. Though Dr. Whoof and the awesome tennis player have a pretty big fan following, and the last episode also fleshes out a male pony of the Wonderbolts a bit. Also, a bit of interesting info from MLP Wiki: "The way he speaks is reminiscent of a stereotypical Canadian accent: the tone and the use of the word "eh." This may be a reference to the Canadian comedy duo Bob and Doug MacKenzie (with Snips representing his partner). "
  19. That happens a lot. We can't possibly actually like the show, so we must be trying to troll. Just love and tolerance, remember that. Love and tolerance. From what i've gathered the people who like Rarity seem to hate Dash with a passion. If hating dash is even possible. My favorite being Twilight. Anymore when I watch i'm just in yari's synchtube (aka "derptube") room all the time. Half the fun of watching the show is hanging out with the community, they make it a lot better. Especially when you're there a lot and know the people in there. It doesn't seem there's too big of a following on here though. There's a blog on tumblr I follow that's doing character analysis for all of the mane cast and his latest one was Rarity, and I could tell he liked her but I couldn't get why even in the writing. He kept on going on about how you think she's just manipulative, shallow, and selfish but there's a deeper part to her...that never gets elaborated on. She's at least very responsible and goal-oriented, I mean hell she set up a small business on her own to support herself and Sweetie Bell. I wish I'd known about a synchtube when I was getting through the episodes, maybe I'll check it out if I'm in the mood to rewatch them (Could you shoot me a link? I could probably find it, but just in case...). Also to the "troll" postings, I find this image helpful:
  20. If you take away the boat, people, and text that looks damn impressive. I really hope the difference in graphics doesn't break the immersion as much as these pictures would suggest.

Also they are always aggressive to you, so afking in Kura's dung is really easy.
  22. I think all quests should encompass those three aspects. Don't you? That depends, some lore quests like WGS need no "fun" aspects to make them enjoyable imo, and having wacky bits thrown in can ruin the tone of more serious quests. Those kind of quests are few and far between I'll admit, but I'd rather have a quest that does one of those aspects well than attempts all 3; the less chances you give JaGeX to fail the better.
  23. Rapier is the better multi-purpose weapon, and the maul is a lot more specialized. If you don't have a very specific set of activities in mind where the maul performs consistently better then go with the rapier as it's a lot more versatile.
