  1. That's not true at all. A player with 99 Runecrafting and 99 Mining certainly put much more effort into it than a player with 99 Cooking and 99 Fletching, even if they have the same total experience. To me it sounds like the original poster is annoyed because he chooses to handicap himself and pays the price for it. Want to get into the 1,000+ total level worlds? Train some skills. If that includes combat, so be it. Jagex shouldn't cater to players who choose not to partake in certain aspects of the game. I do not choose to 'handicap' myself. My skiller is not my only account, and yet I love training it for the challenge. I have entered these worlds with other accounts, and the free play server seems to follow a pattern of ex-members, this proves something, doesn't it? I choose to have a skiller because of the challenge, and I accept the different challenges and limitations. However, I think the current system is a bit flawed. P.S. I'm a girl. It depends on what Jagex's intent was in creating these worlds in the first place. I personally think that these restrictions are to bring a sense of "maturity" back to the game by limiting access to players who have been around for a decent amount of time. But then again, it's your choice to play on a level 3 account. There's already plenty of other content that you chose not to gain access to through your self-imposed parameters, and this update is just one more piece. Second, "deserve" is a really subjective term. Who are we to decide that one account is more "deserving" of access to these worlds than another account? Granted, the 1000 total level is an arbitrary figure, but so would replacing it with X amount of total experience. You mention that F2p skills include mining and runecrafting, which are widely considered two of the most admired skills due to their lengthy training process. And yet, should we really be valuing and devaluing levels and experience based on the skill that it's achieved in? You can say that having all mediocre levels which add up to 1000 total is less impressive than 12 million xp concentrated in a few skills. However, I could just as easily say that cooking and fletching levels are so easy and fast to obtain that it doesn't take much time at all to obtain tons of xp by training only those 2 skills. Herein lies the issue; there's simply no completely objective way to set up the limit. Finally, you'd have to admit that no matter what happens, there will always be a segment of the RS population that's unsatisfied. If the bar is set high, there will be people complaining of an "elitist" world, and if the bar is set too low, people will still complain that access is too easy to achieve. Well, I agree exp in certain skills cannot be compared with other skills, and I also agree that the exp requirement wouldn't be completely objective. However, I believe it is MORE objective than the level requirement. Myself, I have that skiller I mentioned and I also have an account I use purely for Fist purposes, as I like this mini game. The Fist account has slightly over 1K total level, and then skiller- less than half. However, the skiller has over 3 times more exp. I don't think the amount of time and effort I put into my Fist account 'deserves' the ability to enter skiller worlds, yet the skiller one does. As for the maturity, I believe exp is a better measure here for many reasons, most of which I stated in the main post. One last note- a free skiller's maximum total level is 871. Which means, according to the current measure, an account with 99 Runecrafting, Crafting, Mining, Smithing, Fishing, Firemaking, Cooking and Woodcutting does not qualify for 'skiller worlds'. Mind you, I think that's absurd. Pfft. First I'm not here to complain about my own situation, but these certain world's. Secondly, I do have accounts with other 1K total- something impossible for a free skiller. As I already mentioned, the highest possible total level for a free skiller is 871.
  2. Skiller worlds, a new feature Jagex added to the game. These worlds have absolutly nothing special about them besides for the fact that entering one requires atleast 1000 total level. This causes quite a few problems and seems unreasonable to me. For once, it is possible to enter such a world if all your skills are 41-42 (which means, if all are 42, a tad over 12.7M total exp). Well, I know of skillers who's total level is not even 500, yet their total exp exceeds 40M. Morever, it is possible to have 126 total level with over 200M total exp! I highly doubt anyone with less than 13M total exp deserves that more than my last example. In addition, both the member and free play skiller worlds seem to have the same 1K total requirement. Once again, this makes no sense. Because 1K total at free play is much harder to achieve than 1K total in members (and I believe most of you agree 1K total requirement for the member world is too low.) Currently, a purely free player's maximum total level is 1494, and that includes 2 of the rarest 99s out there- Mining and Runecrafting (both are even more of a pain to level at free play). If all of that is not enough, it is clearly much easier to gain exp as a member (you have more skill possibilities, more money-earning options, "upgraded" skills and new method of leveling, etc...) If you ever entered the free skiller world, you probably noticed a certain pattern- Almost all of the players there are ex-members. This proves exactly how little sense this makes. My obvious solution is to have a total exp requirement rather than a total level one. I'm not sure what the exp requirement should be, or if it should differ from members to free players (personaly, I prefer the latter), but I'm certain a total exp requirement is a more suitable one. Discuss whether you agree/disagree, why, and if you agree, what you think the exp requirement should be. I don't believe this thread belongs to 'Bugs & Suggestions' as I'm not here to suggest it but rather discuss it. If, however, you disagree- feel free to move it.
  3. Because... Uh... Well, there's actualy no reason to give it the 'not smart to' title. Who cares if he's level 3 or 138? Personaly I don't call anyone a noob as it seems childish to me, but if I had, their level or equipment wouldn't affect my decision of where or not to call them 'noob'. It's not smart to post false 'not smart to' posts in the "It's not smart to...." game thread because....

    ^ Uhh... Sure? < Ruthless. V Spineless :o...
  5. Uhh... I'm sorry to disappoint you there, but you won't be getting any free 99s from Jagex, no matter what. I can gurantee that, I'm 100% certain and would bet my life on that. Moreover, I think you completely missed the idea behind Champion's Challenge. I may not be as sure of that as I am of my last statement, but Champion's Challenge is not SUPPOSED to be a rewarding mini-game. It's there for the challenge, not the reward- adding a unique reward would completely destroy it's purpose. I highly doubt, I'm even pretty sure, Jagex's intentions are to leave that mini-game rewardless. As I already said, the purpose of this mini-game is a fun, extremely hard challenge, nothing more than a cosmetic reward IMO.
  6. I think you totaly misunderstood the idea behind 'Champion's Challenge'. It's not meant to be useful, and I doubt it will ever be. The idea is to give a great goal to seek, something to look after and be proud of. NOT something to use when you're skilling or PKing. The core of this mini-game is to give an incentive to accomplish a "worthless" goal. If this ever was useful to complete, not only will it lose it's point, but the amount of rants will reach new peaks.
  7. The mouse seems to move extremly slowly for some reason I changed my Ghz or whatever that is to 75 and my 'Enhance pointer precision' box was already checked... Help?
  8. Goodbye amulet of accuracy value :o...
  9. How long did it take to get the scroll? I don't think that matters. One player can get it on the first kill and another only after 8K kills. It's all about luck.
  10. Did they forget they released slayer rings? I rather it was on the ring itself. I carry a ring around not a gem.. If I was able to use this feature it would be great. Not for an extra inventory space/replace ring for the gem though. Also I really hope they make 2000 skill total worlds. I dont expect more than that since it is a dedicated server. Either way im not impressed by 1000. Try 1500 atleast. I got a new friend (In rs that is) who only started couple months ago and she is nearly 1000 already. 1500 is a bit more worth while if your going to bother making such worlds. I think the max in F2P is 1496... Or something like that, not too sure about the number. Either way, 1500 total free world would be pointless, only members and ex-members could enter that.
  11. It seems that Jagex put some great work into removing bugs and other small bits.
  12. I never told you what to like and what not to, I simply was surprised that someone's goal is a gigantic drop party. As for the "rewards" for participating in your 24 hour event, money and items are not the only option. Tip.It, for example, has a great tradition of offering "Slavery" of players in return for points earned through participating and winning their events. Basicly, contests and such reward the winner with points which he/she can later use to get a slave- that's a great reward, greater than items IMO. For me it just seems as if you try to make every update look bad in a way. As you probably already know, nothing is perfect, every single action/decision/product has it's good and bad sides. Sure, Godswords brought in high hits, but I can assure you (even though personaly I don't like them) that MOST did and do enjoy these swords. You can't both have PKing and not have RWT, you can't both have Jagex support and update their game and not have updates which you may find unfitting. I'm yet to have seen anything that Jagex added/removed from the game that would stop your said goal, it just takes some creativity (for example, "Slavery"). 1. Sure am not. 2. At the moment I'm more of a "lender" as 10K every 15 minutes (am F2P on my current main account), but I used to spend quite a bit on friends before trading limits. The limits did NOT affect my playstyle too bad considering the reason. 3. Actualy, I am. No mean to brag, but I probably know a thing or two about it more than you. 4. I officialy started playing regulerlay in 2004, but my very first account was created on 2001. 5. All of them? Ofcourse not. I highly doubt you do either. The negative definetly does not outweigh the good. I do not miss bots one bit, and would give up much more than gift-giving, PKing, dueling, trade limits and drop parties if I had to. (Not that any of us did, the lending system isn't a bad replacement for gift-giving, Bounty Hunter and PvP worlds may not be the "oldschool PKing" everyone misses, but it isn't a bad replacement either IMO, dueling is still out there even though it's not the same as back then, and drop parties still exist in Falador).
  13. [hide] Some whiny pkers quit? I wouldn't use the word whiny, most of those who quit were oldschool pkers who had enough. The rest sucked it up and tried to bear with it. And there was a profit from this, they stopped their real life credit card issues - this was the main reason they acted upon this. Yes, it paied off, for THEM. It has not improved gameplay, you are obviously too lonely to notice just how much this game has turned into a single player MMO. We barely need to interact with players for trades, and we cant give freebies to our friends. Since the change to the wild, most of the clans from the top 10 ( if not all ), quit. Clans are a huge community based part of the game, the changes to the game wiped a lot of that out. Please, before you post, understand in comparison to the old days, this is a step in a negative direction. Luckily with community based sites such as Tip it, Runescape is still a game worth playing and we are strong enough to make do with such decisions, just as we have done since the evil update which was Pest Control. The fact that I can't give away "freebies" to my friends had not changed my playstyle a bit. Sure, before the Anti-RWT update I used to give a boost or two to a couple of friends, but it never was GOAL for me, I never saw it as something that would otherwise ruin my game, and it hasn't. As for the trading- A. People still trade WITHOUT using the Grand Exchange in millions, everyday. B. Even if that wasn't true, who cares? This game still is multi-player, I still play or even race my friends, I still play multi-player mini-games and I still get asked every other minute how the hell do I make money. The Grand Exchange's only flaw (well, not only, the major one) is merchant clans who manipulate prices and scam other players. Other than that, the Grand Exchange made things way nicer, atleast to me. Buy there are many, many people who DID like to give help in some way or another to friends.. I for one lost my complete goal in playng runescape (and since then I hardly play 2 hours a week, only to quickly check the new updates).. Before my goal was to create a mega house, and make so much money so I could give a 24-hour-during drop party myself.. (Set that goal the spring before the killing-updates happened). Now I honestly don't know what to do: what "great" goal can there be? - I dislike like skilling or gaining levels, and having money isn't fun if you can't share it with anybody you want... So the only thing that keeps me going are my old friends over IRC that keep talking me back into the new updates etc.. [/hide] What a poor, poor argument. Not only is money-making easier (if you skill for money, you can sell your product faster, and if you merchant, well the Grand Exchange is great for that), so your money-making argument falls. As for a drop party, I couldn't see why anyone would want to do that, and a 24 hour drop party is almost impossible (you'd need tens of billions for that). And even then, if you had the money for it, the Falador Party Room will gladly help you achieve your drop party goal. The Anti-RWT update did not kill your goal, you did because you set one that's going to drive anyone who's going serious at it crazy. If you still are interested in that goal, you can go back to it. And if it's another goal you seek which does not involve too much skilling, try monster hunting, mini-games or anything else for that matter.

  15. That's creative, but unfortunately, flawed. Players would just have their friends hit them, wearing say... Well, any armor worth a bit, and then stop and kill them. True, it's a bit riskier than the current 76K'ing method, but it in no way eliminates it. However, I think this "redefine risk" idea has great potential. Personaly I can't think of something right now, but I'm sure you (or anyone else for that matter) could think of expanding this up to the point where it really does make a difference. Good luck, this really is one of the changes RuneScape needs the most.

  18. I meant that the cape could be upgraded to get a teleport to one location, like you were able to do with the broom last year, such as the Makeover Mage's house (example). The broom is a quest reward not an event reward... Jagex just released the event and quest at the same time and made the quest temporarily free. No holiday event reward was ever more than cosmetic/fun, nothing is useful (unless you count all the tradeables for teh muniz :o...)
