To clear my stance up, I've never complained about the lack of high level content. In fact, I rarely complain about anythng jagex throws at us. I dislike the fact of rs turning into a get 99 everything race, but I bear with it. I'm okay when requirements are within reach, even it will take me weeks to get it. But 93 summoning? 91 smithing? These are levels that even a high level like me who've put hundreds of hours into the game and say, W T F. If you want a goal, there're always 99s for you to go for. But a diary completion really should be within the reach of us normal players instead of catered to <1% of the rs population. 6002 players with 93 summon/1m (say just 1 million total rs players)= 0.6%. There's a reason it's called 'elite'.

A simple yet interesting suggestion.
Not everyone is gonna spend 1k just for a log to cook on... Anyways, on topic. I support this idea. 1.4K :).

A simple yet interesting suggestion.
It really isn't as high as you think. Sure, players could stop burning swordfish at level 76 and sharks at 84 (with Cooking gauntlets), but is it that big of an advantage? Cooking is quite the fast skill anyway, and considering this advantage will mostly be used as a better training method, it wouldn't matter that much. These levels would be gained in a few days anyway if you're serious at training the skill. And it also costs a lot more than willows or maples (if you need 1-2K logs for 99 Cooking, and magic logs cost about 1.4K each (as opposed to 8gp for willows and 30-ish for maples), it should cost you 1.4-2.8M, not that the price is big, but is it worth it for only 10 levels of advantage? Probably only on the high-end foods which still burn at 99 Cooking, absurd in my opinion.) The only problem I could possibly see is price changes to Manta Rays and Sea Turtles. Both foods still burn at 99 Cooking, which is why their cooked versions cost more than their raw counterparts. This would very possibly change if such an idea was implemented into the game.

Well, there isn't much to say in this area. Not only is Firemaking not much of a beneficial skill, but it gives no REAL advantage over lower levels (except for a few quest requirements here and there, and perhaps the utterly pointless hand cannon). Well, my suggestion might not change this completely, but I believe it will make a change. As most of you know, the type of logs you burn determines the amount of time your fire lasts. I'm not sure about the time ranges of the different logs, but either way- Willows are more than enough to cook a full inventory of any raw food, which makes other logs nothing more than an expensive alternative for Cooking. Well, how about if the logs affected your food-burning rates? It makes perfect sense as better wood should have an effect on your Cooking, and it would actualy give an advantage to higher logs over lower ones. It's very similar to the range in Lumbridge (for those of you who don't know, it has better Cooking rates, I.E. you burn less often cooking on it), or the Family Crest Cooking gauntlets. If to give a more detailed suggestion, I think: * Normal logs (and Achey) should not affect your Cooking at all (just like all the current logs' abilities). * Oak logs should only have a slight affect. Perhaps adding 1 or 2 invisible Cooking levels. * Willow logs should also have just a littel advantage, perhaps giving 2-3 invisible Cooking levels. * Teak logs should have a 3-4 Cooking levels advantage. * Arctic Pines should have a 4-5... * Maple logs- 5-6. * Mahogany logs- 6-7. * Eucalyptus logs- 7-8. * Yew logs- 8-9. * Magic logs- 9-10. Possibly using those and Family Crest gloves should get you rid of burning Manta rays and Sea Turtles at 99 Cooking :). Support list  : 1. Sonic3190 Your thoughts and comments :):

Unjustified censorship!
As I had already stated about a million times in this thread, I'm not trying to revolutionize the world through 1 game. I believe that if this game, along with others, and along with communities in and outside of the Internet, would make such a change in their language, we could expect to change the world-view of many. In addition, the bare fact that you must 'stop' players from using it (through censorship) is one of the problems I'm looking to eventualy solve. You see, the fact that you have to censor these words, as if they were swear-words, is very sad. I know uncensoring them would not magicly make everything good and beautiful, but for a change to be made, we must begin somewhere. Currently in my school, some sort of mini-revolution is happening. After a very touching speech I gave to about half of it, along with most school staff, students in my school stopped using these words as insults- and are even more aware of the situation. If 1 student could change a whole school (or atleast most of it), I believe we could even have this change anywhere and everywhere else.

Unjustified censorship!
1. Not unique? Maybe you should look up the definition of that word. 2. Killing theirselves over it? If that's not natural section I don't know what is I think you're exadurating, you state things like that like it's the 1960's. Homosexuals are accepted in society by almost everyone and have exactly the same rights (except for marriage in some states but let's not go there). I do agree about the censorship though, I've always found it ridiculous why those words are censored. Nope, it exists to these days. I had to do some researth for school, and gays do suicide because they're afraid of it, it's a proven fact. Other than that, gays are murdered these days just for being different (the last time it happend in the US was 10 years ago, however, 2 months ago it also happend in Israel. I had not looked into other countries.) As for the 'unique', I believe that in the future (the long future...) we could expect to see it as something as normal as being chinese or as being a shoe salesman.

Are you really serious... Ofcourse, if gay is censored because it 'centers around the discussion of sex', why shouldn't 'straight'?

Unjustified censorship!
Beat me to it. Its a shame it got 3 pages in before anyone picked up on the real reason behind this thread. The words gay, lesbian, sex, sexy, sexual, penis, vagina, heterosexual, homosexual...they are all censored because they all center around the discussion of SEX. The game has players under age 11. There are Sex Education Classes and Parents to teach these things to children. They don't need to learn it from Runescape. Case Closed. Oh? Then why isn't 'straight' censored? It DOES 'center around the discussion of SEX', why not censor it?

Unjustified censorship!
Stop. The premise behind this thread was invalidated before it even started, that Jagex was not being "unjust" in censoring "homosexual" words because they censored "heterosexual" words as well. That's like saying a restaurant is being racist by not letting you in and you happen to be black, when the restaurant is closed for the night. They're not letting ANYONE in, there's no discrimination. OP doesn't want equality, but rather special treatment. Not saying that makes the OP a bad person, most people are generally looking for what fits them best. But this thread was very narrow minded from the start and no matter how you spin the question to encompass any sexual preference: This is the wrong medium. And yes I do acknowledge the comment about people who become good friends and inevitably divulge that sort of information. But take it to another medium. A fansite, instant messenger, anything. Coming from a person who works a lot with management at retail chains, I can say there are a lot of things a company will allow, but will officially stand against. With Jagex, I'm sure they have no problem with friends talking about really anything, but officially they have to assume strangers talking to strangers with an almost infinite potential age range with every intention under the sun, and as such must officially voice their disapproval of all sex talk. I have to disagree. The whole idea I'm revolving around, is that the fact people use these words in an inappropriate manner, is what creates censors and insults. The reason a kid might feel bad for being called gay, is the fact that many see it as a bad thing. I do NOT think that removing it from the RuneScape censor would change anything of said above. But if RuneScape was not the only one, we could eventually reach a change. Perhaps if my English was better I could explain myself better, but as it's not, I'll do my best. Censorship (not particulary in RuneScape), is what causes a person to want to walk around it. For example, I hadn't used the word 'noob' in atleast a year or so to name another person. Frankly, if this word never existed I'd have no problem. However, if Jagex censored this word, I'd be annoyed, I'd WANT to say it. The fact that I'm not allowed to say it is what makes me want to say it more. For the same reason, the words we're discussing are used so often (outside of RuneScape) as swear words, as a way to make fun of others, or just thrown out in the air for no reason. Once again, I'm not expecting to revolutionize (sp?) the world by uncensoring these words in RuneScape, but I think that if I and others started working towards changing individuals' and communities' opinions, and change the whole view of our surroundings' thoughts and feelings towards these words, they could eventualy become just another word known to describe someones else, just like 'young', or 'dark-haired'. I am 100% aware of the consequences of removing these words from the RuneScape censor. I know 'gay' just might become the new 'noob' in-game, but I feel it's something we must live with. At some point players would realize their banned accounts are not worth it, and the use of these words would decrease. (Just like [wagon], when it first came off the censor you'd see it everywhere, but now it's used a lot less often (although too often in my opinion). And so, as a closing statement, removing these words from the RuneScape censor would not cause any good if it stands alone in the world. It would probably only cause havoc if so. But if we work towards changing it in the real world aswell, we can expect a drastic change in a few years time, in the world-view of many towards the subject.

Unjustified censorship!
Not at all, I'm not even trying to make a revolution through RuneScape. All I'm trying to do is start something, somewhere, wherever. I'm not only working this through RuneScape, I'm also working on a similar way in my school (I already gave quite a speech in front of half of it), and in my city in general. I'm trying to increase awareness of everyone around me. No, I do not think that most RuneScape players would even understand why the censor would go off, that's not my intention. My intention is to get as many places and frames to use these words freely, even if at the first years as insults. Eventualy, if achieved in enough critical places, this could lead a very simple process of creating awareness. The first goal, is to make it seem like a word not to be afraid of (you'd be surprised at the amount of people who are actualy either afraid of using it, or use it in order to insult others). I don't have the slightest hope that uncensoring these words in RuneScape would lead to any kind of revolution, on the contrary, it would lead to some sort of havoc, atleast in the early days. Eventualy, if what I do right now would make one person do the same in his/her school, city, community, or whatever- we can make a progress, and we can make a change! Sure, it seems so very far away, it seems like I'm day dreaming and it also seems like the havoc it would create is not worth it. But you must look at the big picture, you must look at the point where, in a few years, people's language, all over the world, would barely even use it as a swear word- People use it that way because of the restrictions, perhaps even because of embarrasment, insecurity, and BECAUSE of censorship! What do you think makes a little kid start using swear words so often? The fact that he's not allowed! That fact his mother said it's wrong, and that all the cool kids are doing it! Same goes for our subject- the word gay is used as an insult purely because it is "not allowed", because it's "not nice" and because grown ups wouldn't. So it may seem that even if my final goal is good, implementing it in RuneScape would do nothing good- but it would do nothing good anywhere if we only implement that in 1 frame. We can't say no simply because we think it wouldn't matter- ofcourse it wouldn't, it's just a game. But it only wouldn't in theory, in the long run it makes a big change.

Unjustified censorship!
For the most part, dead on here. I do disagree that there is some legitimate conversation to be had using these words. While I obviously don't solicit RW information from people, the folks you talk to on a day to day basis will invariably over time know more about you, and vice versa. This includes sexual orientation; I know several RS players who are openly gay and have told me as such. That's right, they've communicated that they are gay within the game. It doesn't take much imagination to work around the censors. This is exactly why the censor should stay; it is easy to remove the inflammatory and immature hatespeek without restricting freedom of orientation. But 'walking around the censor' is illegal... And even if it wasn't, if your friend can tell you he/she is gay while bypassing censor, so can an immature idiot that tries to insult you...

Unjustified censorship!
I think that's where the root of this problem stands. People see it as something oh so very big- only because society had made it so big. On a school project I had to direct a documentay movie basicly involving around gay teenagers. Before I started filming anything or even making phone calls, the first thing I did was searth the net, see what I can learn. Eventualy, I stepped into a site held by an organization, and it's main purpose is to create awareness- because they believe awareness would eliminate many problems gays are having, mainly because they're afraid their secret would lead to their lives getting torn apart. Eventualy throughout my film, I got to interview the head of this ogranization. She said her dream is to close it. Literally, ditch her organization- because there will be no need for it. What she obviously meant is that she wants our country to look at it as something so natural and normal, that there will be no room for such an organization. She also stated that the fact that these words are used as insults, is very disturbing and that that's one of the biggest problems out there relating to this subject. I was fascinated during the whole interview, and filmed almost 3 hours of it. I just couldn't stop asking questions and getting answers. Most of my questions weren't even pre-written- I was just so curious I was glued to my seat with daze. Well, what do you know? We turned out to be friends even though she is about 10 years older than me.

Unjustified censorship!
I would like to stat why I think these words should not be censored in RuneScape (or any other place, really.) The reason gays are treated badly by many, is the in-ability to comperhend their situation. They were born with a sexual orientation that is looked down upon for some very twisted and sickening reasons, basicly for being different. I do not expect to change that over night, but I do know that this change can be made, even if in 20, 50, or 200 years. The reason these words are censored, or even unaccepted by many out side of RuneScape, is the lack of awareness. In other words, if everyone knew what it meant (and many in this particular thread proved they don't), it was not so unnatural and unique anymore. It would be just one more word, one more 'father', 'friend', 'child', 'student', 'asutralian', 'black', and so on. Currently, that's something that can be done. I doubt any of you imagine anything too unique when using the word 'father', and I believe so should be for the word 'gay'. In addition, I am aware that if these words were no longer censored, they would, infact, be used more as insults than anything else. However, if we are so afraid of that, our world will never have that change. Sure, 'gay' would sadly become the new 'noob', but if on all places in the entire world this word was just like any other, it would eventualy change. (As I stated, not over night, and probably not even in 20 years, but we shouldn't be scared of that long period, we should just do our best to reach a change in people's world-view.
