2070 Hegemony
I'd be willing to help with a region if anyone doesn't want to do a full region. EDIT: I could also do both North and South America, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

2070 Hegemony
Right, I've got this cleared by Icu, so if I piss anyone off, perhaps we can reach an agreement? In the late 2020s, a more secular Italy decided, among other things to do the unthinkable (at least to the world's Catholic population), they would annex the Vatican and make it part of Italy once more. Needless to say the Vatican reacted... strongly against this action, but Italy seemed dead set in that motion, so, after clearing it with the French government, they moved back to Avignon and set about renovating the old city into its former grandeur. Over time, and many wars with German and Spanish states France gained and lost territory (as well as gaining territory in a war against the Swiss and the Italians), and after a time, the church had become fully integrated into society. A strange dualism had settled into France, there were both secular and religious schools (an option for the parents to choose), secular and religious organizations, and even the same dualism in the military and the government, with the prime minister holding office over the bodies of the French and the Pope guiding the faithful.

imgur is screwy in that it turns every image (at least I upload) into a .jpg file. I'd advise tinypic but that has a bit too much compression for my taste. Examples: imgur [hide][/hide] tinypic [hide][/hide]

The Back Room
Cool. I always was a fan of tanks, just never got one. [hide=My small force] My droid has an awful camera. The painting is alright when you consider I was in grade 5 when I did it.[/hide] While I don't have any pictures of my army (mainly due to a lack of a camera) I do have some cool pictures of other armies (most notably a Death Korps of Krieg one) [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide]

The Back Room
The main changes are how vehicle damage is taken (which makes it one hell of alot harder for certain armies to take out vehicles) and the removal of options in a lot of codexes (You no longer have the chapter trait system). At least in my area, people are using a fair bit of mechanized armies (which that list was made to, along with other things counter). Melta is now one of the go to weapons for destroying most any vehicle, and the imperial guard and space wolves are probably the strongest codexes out there.

The Back Room
I'm kind of bored and since I have roughly 1000+ dollars on my hands (profit from selling bicycles, whee) I'm starting up a summer project. That is to say, a Blood Angels army. HQ- Librarian w/ jump pack, Sword of Sanguinius, The Blood Lance - 125 Elites- Chaplian w/ jump pack, infernus pistol- 140 points Furioso Librarian dreadnought w/ Sword of Sanguinius, Wings of Sanguinius, drop pod- 210 points Sanguinary Priest x3 w/ jump pack, infernus pistol- 285 points Troops- Death Company x5 w/ infernus pistol -115 points Death Company Dreadnought w/ blood talons- 125 points Assault Squad w/10 marines 2 infernus pistol, power weapon - 235 points Assault Squad w/10 marines 2 infernus pistol, power weapon - 235 points Fast Attack- Vanguard Veteran Squad X5 w/ jump packs -165 points Vanguard Veteran Squad X5 w/ jump packs -165 points Heavy Support- StormRaven w/ TL multi meltas, TL lascannons- 200 points Total- 2000 points The Death Company, Chaplain and the DC dread all go in the Storm Raven and use it to quickly drop them in so they can assault the next turn, the Vanguard Veterans drop in and assault priority targets on the first turn before dying messily while the rest of my forces drop in (either with jump packs or drop pods) behind cover if possible and assault the next turn. After it has dropped off its assault cargo the Storm Raven will act as mobile anti tank to help with the infernus pistols (mini meltas basically) and the blood lance (From the librarian). I'm mainly doing this because a surprising number of people at my FLGS play 40k and I've had a chance to test this list out using VASSAL 40k. On a related note, did you know that the bastards that are GW don't sell most of their bits (things used to customize units, like say an infernus pistol) outside of other units? Thankfully ebay exists, but still its irritating as hell. At any rate, if I'm happy with the results of the painting I will post pictures (I'm thinking of either flesh tearers or pre heresy world eaters, I haven't decided which).

I for one listen to opera for the instrumental music (and the music in general), words at least in my opinion, are secondary. Now to post some weird/trippy songs that I like. (Oh and rocco I'd list the flute master as well, while not classic rock, he is rather amusing) Karn Evil 9 (Emerson Lake and Palmer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZcYP00b2FI Locomotive breath (Jethro Tull, it has a rather long intro so you can skip the first 1:30) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCcwNoVSt2E Bargain (The Who) I'll post more later. EDIT: Posting 21st Century Schizoid man (King Crimson) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBfCzhYbWBk Epitaph (King Crimson) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnQntM-rtDE&feature=related

The Back Room
Damn, it turns out gygax was cremated and has no grave. I say this because I wanted to loot his grave and make some artifact die I want to give my last respects to the man..... yes. On a completely unrelated note, what attributes would die made from Gary Gygax grant? One possibility is having his left (die rolling hand) be used to make a d20 set and have various different powers attributed to each die (rolled for of course). Of course the right hand of gygax could be used like the hand of Vecna or something like that.

The Back Room
Because they pay their people next to nothing (at least by our standards) so that goods are cheap if at a low quality? That does not exclude the cost of materials and electronics, which make up the bulk of the cost of a ship (which can be downgraded, but still, you're not getting a ship at the low low cost of a cruise missile [well, comparatively]). And, again, try hitting something going circa 300 mph (much much more if it's at supersonic speeds) a mile away from you with a rifle, you're not going to (there's a reason why surface to air missiles were invented).
-
The Back Room
No, they couldn't, that's [bleep]ing [developmentally delayed]ed. On average a lower end (read: good enough to sink a ship) cruise missile costs around 1-2 million dollars to put that in perspective, a lower end... say destroyer costs ten times that amount, with a more modern one costing 50-100 times that. This is not even getting into the logistics of transporting that amount of building materials (which would cost money and add to the cost of building the ship). Of course they could be using lower end ships to lessen the cost, but still, the point about logistics stands. EDIT: Also, to the point about the AKs and the bombers, no they couldn't. You seem to be thinking that the bombers will be flying on strafing runs a la WWII fighters or in the vietnam war, in all likely hood they would be around a mile high (give or take) dropping smart bombs, which makes hitting them a fair bit harder (read: nigh impossible).

Ouch, sorry to hear that. On a completely unrelated note HOLY [cabbage], I've just found another favorite setting, that is to say planescape.

Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
Grim checks to see if the rope is long enough to extend down to another fire escape, if it is long enough he anchors it on the wall in a way that can be taken down from the bottom and climbs down to a fire escape that is not infested with zombies. If it is not long enough then.... GRIM SMASH, GRIM STRONG! Grim goes off to help stem the flood of zombies by decapitating them with his falchion.
-
Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
Grim starts weaving the cables together into a rope, muttering about feeble half men as he does so.
-
Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
Grim pulls himself up, using his far superior strength to easily get back into the room. Therein he looks for any ropes, chains or cables that could be used to make a rope. Calling out he shouts "OI, ANYONE WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ZOMBIES ON THE FIRE ESCAPE. WHICH ONE OF YOU PUNY MAN THINGS WILL PROVE ITS WORTH?"
-
Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
Grim realizes that the puny half men can not hold off even the most pitiful of the walking dead, and looks for any fire escapes/balconies with which a tactical retreat would be possible. He also looks for supplies, most notably ammunition for the half men's fire rods.

Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
Right, time to play up the GRIM SMASH then. Name: Grim Weapon: Falchion (because it looks cool) Perks: GRIM SMASH, GRIM STRONG! +1 on use of close combat weapons/strength tests YOUR BOOK LEARNING IS FOR WEAK, GIRLY MEN: -1 on social rolls and on all knowledge tests. BIO: Once upon a time, a non genre savvy branch of the government got their hands on some extra funding, bored out of their minds and more than a little bit drunk they designed to create a super soldier, this have worked rather well (as they had the necessary equipment) if they had not, as has been stated before, been drunk off of their asses. So, they each endeavored to create their own ideal super soldier (an idea which might have gone slightly better if they had not been only making two) and the first one was, as things such as that are wont to be, a completely inhuman monster. During the ensuing security breach, Grim waltzed out of the facility, with some implanted memories guiding him to...do stuff. DESCRIPTION: Tall, muscular, blond hair, brown eyes (one of the researchers may or may not have been a neo nazi, which caused some problems with the Jewish members of the staff), slightly unfocused gaze, looks like a kid in a candy shop when fighting, and is generally not the most subtle of people.

Roll to Dodge: The Tavern
[obligatory pushing of FATE]Perhaps you would be interested in the FATE system, it is one of the few systems (that I am aware of) that actually requires playing your character (role playing) as part of game play, as well as being completely classless and heavily customizable. [/obligatory pushing of FATE] Right, is this our tavern persona or is it a character we make up out of the blue?

Nex, it was explicit when I saw it. You said it yourself, everything has been redone repeatedly, now they may have edited some of that [cabbage] out (though if you think any of that's bad, I'd advise reading the 2e forgotten realms books, Ed Greenwood was a dirty old man).
