I realize the way probability works. What I am wondering is approximately how long 250 kills takes. Its about viability of camping as a money making method. I currently can make about ~700k/hour using other methods. If the drop rate is 1/250 and I can kill 250 every 4.25 hours or about 1 every minute then killing those would be more profitable without even taking into consideration the other drops. Also it gives combat and is more afkable then my other method.

Ive heard that the drop rate of Amulet of Ranging is about 1/250. About how long does it take to kill 250 of these?

Who said you would be able to safespot monsters. Maybe it would have the same range as melee. Assumption Fail.

Controlled is slower if you take into account the levels you gain levels faster with targeted attack styles. For example: Two people with balanced stats of 70 70 70 wish to train to 80 80 80. Assume they both are using the same weapon for all the training. The first alternates between accurate and aggressive every level, then trains defence. He trains and obtains 80 80 70 after gaining 2496882exp. He has 1248441exp till his goal. Then he trains defence using his beefed up attack stats. The second trains with controlled. He trains and at 2496882exp he has 77 77 77. He has 1248441exp till his goal. His attack and strength have been lower for the entire duration of the training(excluding the start). Attack and Strength increase experience per hour. Since the first guy decided to increase attack and strength first he has been getting faster experience for the duration of the training. The difference in speed might not be very noticeable at very high levels but it is on a new character. This is disregarding the stat difference between whip with defender and ss. There is also a difference of defense which might have given the controlled guy benifit depending on the monster being trained on. Someone claimed the controlled option also loses .01exp per hit to rounding. Although I can't verify the validity of this it can be ignored as insignificant. It depends on what you want to do. If you want faster training; train strength first, then attack, then defense. I say train strength first since it raises exp/hour more against training(low def) creatures. If you want less annoyance with the loss of the use of your whip for strength training then train controlled. If I was you I would train to 99 strength or attack on the focused style.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Yeah, I ment GP/Hour. Do you have any suggestions about ways to make money for me?
-
I dont care about exp since Im already maxed. Would you happen to know the approx gp per hour for either of those options?
-
I can currently only play about 1-2 hour per day. I am already utilizing MTK and purchasing the 64 bstafs every day. What are some fast moneymaking options that utilize any of my skills, while keeping my time restraits in mind? Click my username on the left to veiw my stats. I have 1sum, 45def, most quests done, and about 8mil to use. Thanks in advance for your help.

Compfreak estimated the drop rate at 1/3000. The probability of getting a drop in 3000 kills is: P(getting a visage)=1 - P(not getting a visage) 1 - (2999 / 3000)^3000 = 0.632 the two is rounded down and we are left with 63%. In 10k kills the probability of getting a visage is: 1 - (2999 / 3000)^10000 = 0.964 (>90%) A lot of the other posters have made mistakes in their calculations prehaps mixing the probabilty with the expected value of visage drops. The chance/luck/whatever terminology has not helped. I think some people are having problems with realising that killing multiple dragons can be thought of as a series of events instead of just thinking about each kill as a single event. Otherwise it's just basic high school math. I see no reason for a flame war here. but as far as I know each dragon should be considered as a single event, as the drop chance does not increase. The chance of a visage per dragon stays the same no matter how many you kill. Each dragon kill is considered a single event. But if you were going to kill a series of them you can easily calculate the probability of getting a drop, and that's what he did. You might be confusing the meaning of the percentage calculated. If you kill 2999 you wouldn't expect a 63.2% chance of getting a visage on your next kill since the drop rate is constant.
