  1. Sunday ~ June 3, 2012 ~ 4pm EST (GMT -5) W61 ~ Dwarven Mine That's right ladies and gentleman and Lords and Ladies...wait, I said ladies already didn't I? Anyway, the time is finally here. Time for me to complete my climb to the pinnacle of Mining greatness. I am, of course, talking about my 99 Mining party! Woo! Not only will I be getting 99 Mining, but 1000 total at the same time. \:D/ I've given this a lot of thought over the last few weeks as I've gotten closer and closer and I've decided that it's only right that my journey finish where it began. Back in 2005 when I was introduced to RuneScape by Cathosas, an old High School friend who has long been retired, and Darthgerm, his stepson, we had it in our heads that mining and then smithing our ores was a good way to make money. Going to the Dwarven Mine below Falador, we started mining copper and tin. Once we had a full load, we would take that to the furnace by the bank to smelt it, then run back down into the mine to smith it, and finally take what we had made to either the general store or the appropriate shop to sell. Sitting in a room together talking and laughing, we did this over and over again, sharing the gold we collected so we could buy better picks from Numorf and making each other bronze armor as we progressed. Ah, it was a simpler time where we knew nothing of how armor would use up our run energy faster, the furnace in Al-Kharid, the anvil in West Varrock, xp-waste or even how to get more cash for what we made, but we didn't care. We were just having a great time playing RuneScape, with dreams of untold riches dancing in our heads. Fast forward 6 and a half years, and my journey has come full circle. From making my own bronze armor in the depths of the Dwarven Mine, to the excitement of accessing the Mining Guild for the first time (bolstered by a Dwarven Stout, of course  ), to dodging Revnants and PK'ers in the wild while searching for the elusive Runite ore, and finally back once again to where it all began. Before I go into all the details, I would like to say a very big thank you to Lady Shahdie. Without her inspiration this never would have happened. <3: Ok, enough reminiscing. Here's how it's all going to go down: ~~ PARTY DETAILS ~~ Everybody will bring at least one log (explained later) and we will all meet here in the Dwarven Mine beneath Falador The scorpions near the Falador entrance are easily avoided so if any of you are level 3 skillers there's no need to worry. There will be a 5 minute grace window to allow for stragglers and then at the appointed time, we'll all get ready and then I will mine one Tin and one Copper ore to push me over the top and level up to 99. Once I get my 99, everyone will light their logs (separately please, no bonfires) and we'll see how much of the area we can light up! After letting our inner pyromaniac off the chain, we will all conga line back to the surface and into the party room where we will rock out with Party Pete and I will thank you all by hosting a drop party! The TIF community and my blog followers have been so good to me over the course of this journey that I want to give something back to say thank you. <3: I will be dropping the following into the party chest for some lucky people to claim as their own: In addition, I will also be dropping 100 Coal, Silver, Gold, Mithril and Adamantite ores along with 15 Runite ores and 50 uncut Sapphires, 25 uncut Emeralds, 15 uncut Rubies and 5 uncut Diamonds. I will be spreading all this out over several drops, so it doesn't all come to an end too soon. Anyone else who wants to add to the pot is of course welcome to but it is not expected. We shall party there until we all get smashed on stouts and ales until we all wander away once again. So tell your friends, tell your enemies, and tell Party Pete to watch out 'cause we're coming to rock the Room! :P I hope to see you all there to celebrate this momentous achievement with me. :) Cheers!

  3. Ok, great big post time. But it will all be worth it, I promise. Today, I logged in to see if the Squeal was still giving out the monkey prizes and hopefully win myself a mace. Much to my surprise, not only were they still there but I actually got one! Being F2P I never get anything good from the SoF, so I was pleasantly surprised. [spoiler=Monkey madness, F2P style!] While I was there I thought that I really should get my Mining down as far as I can in preparation for the party. Yes, I said "party"! I've finally decided on where and when and how, so I will be posting that next. Hopefully you all can come. I've been hacking around the last few days, doing a bit of this and a bit of that, and all my non combat skills are now less than 100xp away from leveling. The one exception is DG, which is about one floor away, but due to the unpredictability of the xp rates I'm not willing to risk it. Once my party is complete, I will be going on a leveling rampage for at least a day. 10 levels in a day? I don't think I've gained that in the last 10 months! Ah well, soon all will come to fruition. I will have gained achieved Mining godhood and will once again be free to roam the countryside at will. I also finished purchasing the items I wanted to give away at my party (again, details in the next post) and started buying the nature runes I will need to superheat all the iron ores I have. I'm hoping the impending Bot Nuke II (aka: Optimus) will drive the prices of things like iron up again so I can make a hefty profit from selling the bars. Speaking of which, would you all like to see how much ore and gems I've mined over the course of this blog? Of course you would, what a silly question. :P [spoiler=Warning: Not for the faint of heart...] Even I can hardly believe it. I've been saving my gems all along, bust imagine how much more ore there could have been if I had started this after the resource dungeons were released. Still, I'm glad to have so much potential xp at hand. The ores will be smelted and probably smithed, and the gems will be cut and made into jewelry. But now I'm sure you're all tired of hearing me ramble on about this and that. You want to know about the party, right? Want to know how you can shower me with praise and affection and admiration and gifts? Well, the wait is almost over. Just go to the next post and read all about it! Hope to see you there. :)
  4. Congratulations. You're making excellent progress.
  5. At the top of the screen where it says "signed in as" there should be a small arrow/triangle pointing down. If you click on it there will be a drop down menu. Click on "My Profile" and it will take you to the user options page. Click on the "Profile" tab and you will see "Change Signature" and "Change Avatar". Add pics as needed and bake for 30 minutes. :P You can find the rules for sigs/avatars here.
  6. It really highlights the need for kids to not reveal personal information, doesn't it? Unfortunately, there are some pretty scummy people in the word. Fortunately, they're a small minority of the whole.
  7. Banned for pointing out others' shortcomings.
  8. Seems more like this should be in blogscape than rants. Before the Nuke last October, there was much discussion of how to kill and loot bots. Now that they're starting to come back, I'm not surprised people are doing it again.

  10. Really? I didn't realize that. Guess I should have logged in yesterday and tried for it then.
  11. It doesn't count posts in the Blogscape section Exactly. You can find a complete list of sections that don't count here. If you check your profile though, you can see how many total posts (including ones that don't count towards post count) you've made.
  12. You're very welcome. :)
  13. Congrats! The purple robes definitely look better than the yellow ones did. Watch out with the barrel of monkeys, it's a single use item with no warnings. Once you use it, *poof* it's gone. I'll add you next time I log in. :)
  14. Which is odd considering the site doesn't ask for any information and doesn't sell anything. It didn't trip AdBlock or NoScript for me, so as far as I'm concerned it's good.
  15. Nice. Congrats on the levels.
  16. Woot! I'm #14! ...for now. :P Looks like a good site, Slaya. I wish you all luck in keeping it going. :)
  17. Banned because you made me jealous of your ridiculous outfit.
  18. I have to admit, I kind of like the monkey sitting on your shoulder. Now, if they could only do it without the awful yellow hat...from that angle it looks like one of those rain hats people wear in movies when there's a hurricane.
  19. Congrats on the group of 81's, and 82 RC.
  20. Wait, you got 97 and 98 RC? Today? Damn. I don't see why not. He's using resources available to him through the game without buying anything from other players or the G.E..
