  1. Beer - the cause of, and answer to, all of of life's problems.
  2. If someone would invent a time machine, I highly doubt they would even think of using it for an online game. Of course we would. Partyhats and crackers galore!
  3. Firstly, congrats on all the levels (this is a RS blog, after all  ). Secondly, I have to say you have excellent taste in cinema. If you like Snatch you should also check out Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (if you haven't already), it's absolutely brilliant and introduced us to the awesome that is Jason Statham. I have to jump on the Boondock Saints/How To Train You Dragon love train. They're both awesome movies! :D
  4. Welcome to the wonderful world of RuneScape, fellow F2P'er. The levels tend to come pretty quickly at the beginning, so try everything and see what you like. Just be sure to come back and tell us about it every so often. :P
  5. Gratz on 87 Agility. I'm loving the new name, btw. Excellent choice.
  6. That sucks, levine. :( But look on the bright side, at least they didn't do something to get you banned. :) Good luck getting it all back again.
  7. ...what? Exactly. How is taking away a relatively efficient way to train otherwise less than efficient skills while doing things you actually like supposed to increase enjoyment? :-s
  8. You're allowed to change your picture, just use the form below.
  9. It is. One of the JMods commented on it a couple of weeks ago on the RSOF. They said they had found part of the problem and should hopefully have a resolution soon.
  10. This reminded me of a time when my step-mother was really sick but kept going into work because they were close to finishing a big project. Her supervisor actually met her in the lobby of the building with a taxi chit and watched her get in the cab to make sure she went home.
  11. Congratulations! =D> Say hi to Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt for us. (be prepared for a lot of those jokes  )
  12. Non members are no longer tracked on the RS hiscores, so any stats tracking sites will no longer work.
  13. I don't think I've ever worked for a company that held taking sick days against me, but I do know that if you're taking an excessive amount of them it can reflect badly on you. I've seen more than one person let go because of excessive "sick" days. I think the problem is that the majority of us do not get paid sick/vacation days, so if we take a day off it is, as you said, an unpaid day which not all of us can afford. It's very easy to say someone should go home when they're sick, but I know for me that means the difference between proper groceries and eating Mr. Noodle and peanut butter (and not always with bread) for a week. Now, I'm not the type of guy to stay home or go running off to the hospital because I have the sniffles, but I do know when I'm too sick to work (ie: running a fever and/or vomiting is an automatic day in bed).
  14. ^This. Besides, the minimum specs for RS don't really require cutting-edge technology. I have a 5 year old laptop that more than meets the minimum specs to run RuneScape, is unreasonable to assume that means the game will run with a reasonable frame rate (ie: not in the red and bordering on single digits) at the lowest game settings?
  15. No. They did the same thing when they announced the plan to remove F2P from the hiscores and that's pretty much all anyone talked about in that week's discussion.
  16. Some goals aren't all fun. Just like going to college/university. School isn't fun. Exams and homework aren't fun either, but it gets you one step closer to your goal of having a fulfilling life. Achieving those goals will not make you any happier. Real job > McDonalds You dont need to go to college to get a well-paying or enjoyable career. I certainly didn't. Many trades do not require college/university degrees, pay well and have lots of opportunity for advancement. Besides, working at McDonald's is a real job. It's honest work for honest, if low, pay. It may not be well respected, but it's certainly better than boosting cars or selling drugs. When's the last time someone got shot and dumped in an alley because they cooked hamburgers for a living? As for some goals not being fun, RS is a video game; the entire purpose is to enjoy yourself. Edit: sorry about this Tripsis, you posted while I was typing.
  17. Once again, the part of the update that affects the most amount of people is stuck under the "in other news" section of the update. Do they really think we don't read the entire update notes? That they can just slide this stuff in and no one will notice? I'm not even a member and I can see that this is a bad move. :wall:
  18. There are, but try and envision being that active in the moderator discussions on top of that. I know there are some weeks where my EP duties take up a lot of extra time, and that's just dealing with one or two specific discussions. I can only imagine how much extra time being an active moderator must take on a daily basis. Personally, I think the mods/admins/staff do a pretty darn good job of riding herd on these forums (I've been on game forums where mod activity was nothing short of draconian). I've seen plenty of discussions, and arguments, go for some time without interference unless necessary. As already pointed out, we have several mods who are active in RuneScape without needing to try and recruit more simply because of in-game knowledge. That said, I do agree with obfuscator that the idea of a "RuneScape Expert" staff group would be an interesting idea if people with the right combination of knowledge and willingness to help could found.
  19. First, welcome to TIF. Second, welcome to the wonderful world of pure F2P. You've gained some impressive stats for an account that's only a month old. I have some friends in TFS, and I'm sure you'll really enjoy being one of them. I look forward to reading your progress.
  20. Care to donate a white to my I'll-probably-never-have-enough-so-please-please-please-I'll-be-your-friend fund?
  21. You've made excellent progress this weekend. Well done.
  22. I had actually forgotten about that. That would certainly make the free game less appealing to gold farmers. Thank you, Jagex, for inadvertently making F2P safer from bots while trying to strong-arm us into buying membership.
  23. There's a certainly an advantage to using the Gravite weapons for training, but, personally, I don't think the recharge costs are worth the small bump in xp. I can think of much better things to spend 1M gp on than an extra 2000 combat xp. Just as an example, you could get 10 times that much Prayer xp by using that money to buy big bones, and it wouldn't take 10 hours to get. If I ever decide to start PvP'ing then Gravite weaps are definitely the first thing I'll get, but otherwise I can't see them being worth the trouble (even if they do look hella cool  ). btw - does anyone know if the Gravite Shortbow gives a similar bump in xp?
  24. Strange that most of the bots seem to be returning to members' worlds instead of the free ones. The only bots I've seen since the Nuke have been autotypers in the G.E..
  25. Personally, I haven't had any problems. I also returned to merching a couple of weeks ago and I'm getting similar, if not higher, profits compared to what I was getting before I stopped.
