  1. There really are no "best" rewards, it really depends on what you want to use them for. The longbow sight is good for PvP, but slower for training than the maple shortbow. Similarly, while the Gravite weapons are excellent for PvP they give almost no boost to training (I seem to recall it's only an extra 200xp/hr) The coal/gem bag can be useful for Mining/Smithing training, but since the introduction of the resource dungeon in the Dwarven Mine the Gem Bag is decidedly less useful. The scroll of efficiency can be a real money saver if you plan to train Smithing by making platebodies. The Arcane Blast Necklace and the Tome of Frost give the best magic boosts in F2P.
  2. "It is with great pleasure that I present you with the first of many revamps the "RuneScape WOW! " campaign will unveil over the next year. I give you... The Buddy Ozan. Now that's not the sanctioned term we're using for the symbol, just something we've been kicking around the office, but look at it. Doesn't it just... pop? The Buddy Ozan."
  3. Does the uber powerful guy running around killing folk with a dagger remind anyone else of the WoW episode of South Park? Fixed that for you.
  4. A true friend will help you hide a body.
  5. Good to see they've fixed the issue with the keys so quickly. A HUD is a much better idea than having to open the toolbelt tab.
  6. For now. The door has been opened and there's no going back. It won't be long before players are able to buy weapons/armor with boosted stats.
  7. I've missed these. Good to see they've brought them back. This might be the greatest movie idea ever. Somebody get Hollywood on the the phone!
  8. Congrats on 99 Cooking, Sonic! Enjoy your trip to the dark side. :P
  9. Before the bot nuke I was 30-35fps. When the Christmas event ended I was around 15-20fps. Ever since the Easter event was added I've been solidly in single digits. I really hope they get this fixed soon.
  10. Since it's been nearly a month, I figured it was time for a bump. Hedgehog, what's the status of the final pic?
  11. This is ridiculous. As someone said already, so much for real world status not affecting in-game gains. On the up side, maybe they'll use the revenue generating machine that is the Squeal to FINALLY FIX THE DAMN FRAME RATE? It's getting worse with every update. I got less than 10fps in Varrock square this morning, and there were only about 10 other people there. <_< btw - Is it just me, or does anyone else picture that scene in Deliverance every time someone says "Squeal"? Especially when it relates to this update.
  12. I never really cared that much about the wheel since most of the good rewards are P2P only (the last two I remember getting were a small xp lamp and 5 silver ores). The real problem with being able to buy spins is that, for better or worse, they've now officially entered into the world of microtransactions. I just hope RuneScape doesn't become one of those "free to play, pay to win" type of games where anyone who isn't buying upgrades has absolutely no hope of ever succeeding. Agreed. It's about time they updated RC, and I'm really glad they're making at least part of it F2P. Now all they need to do is fix the horrible xp rates for solo DG and we'll be all set.
  13. As Alg said, to make it more accessible to more players. Not all of us have DGS levels of skill you know. Personally, I think this will help the skill out a lot. Now if they could only do something about the abysmal solo xp rates we'd be all set.
  14. Last week ended on a sad note for me. On Friday, I dropped off my service truck at the garage for the last time. After 7 years, 8 months and almost 474000 kilometers our journeys together have finally come to an end. "So what, Kaida? It's just a truck" I hear you say. Spoken like someone who has never had a vehicle for any length of time. And I have had this one for a very long time. It sometimes almost feels like forever. I think I've spent more time in this truck than I have in my own house. I have driven this truck nearly every day since I got it. Through blinding snow and freezing rain so bad the heater couldn't keep up causing half the windshield to ice over. Through fog so thick I literally couldn't see past the end of the hood. Through hailstorms that caused even transport trucks to take shelter under overpasses on the highway. Through electrical storms and blackouts and the 38 hour day to fix all the problems they caused. To a job so far away I had to buy gas three times in one day (you don't know a long day until you've driven a 1200km round trip for 30 minutes worth of work <_< ). Through it all she brought me home safe and sound every single time. No matter what the weather, how bad the traffic, how late the day ran or how tired I was I always made it. I will miss my truck, but out of the sadness comes joy as I should be receiving my new truck later this week. Will the new one be as good? Only time will tell. Goodbye old girl, enjoy your retirement. You've earned it. <3:
  15. The Competition Bureau of Canada released this statement yesterday: http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/gasoline-companies-plead-guilty-to-price-fixing-in-kingston-and-brockville-ontario-1634046.htm Looks like the conspiracy nuts were actually right about this one. I do service work for two of these companies. Pioneer and Canadian Tire are nationwide chains, and Mr. Gas is an independent in the Ottawa area. It really makes me wonder if they're doing this, or at least tried, with other independents (I can think of at least three others off the top of my head in Ottawa alone). Watchdog groups have been screaming about this for years with no results. They must feel pretty justified today.
  16. Unfortunately, they are going to be and that is the sad reality of an electronically connected society. Today's youth are connected globally like no other point in history, and it's only going to become easier and easier for predators to take advantage of children who are ignorant of the risks in the future. All we can do is try to educate and prepare our children for when it does happen. It's no longer enough to warn them about strangers who come up to them on the street, now we have to warn them about strangers no matter where they talk to them. It is unfortunate that this kind of thing is happening in RuneScape, but the parental controls are there for a reason. It's not up to Jagex to make sure parents to use those controls, it's up to the parents. I know that everything my children do online is monitored and they are not simply given free reign to discover the horrors of the internet on their own. Lord knows there's stuff out there I wish I had never seen, I can only imagine what those things would do to an impressionable child.
  17. Mining, of course. Everyone needs more Mining.
  18. Nearly 100,000 people in one day? An update day, even. That's got to be mostly bans.
  19. So the free trial is eventually being offered, but it's not instantly turned on or even required? Pure F2P is still possible!
  20. Why weren't these implemented right from the get go? Seems like pretty obvious things to overlook. At least they've finally been corrected. What? Why was this necessary? Checking what ore is in a rock is ridiculously simple. How many complaints could they possibly have had about this?
  21. Hope you enjoy your traitorous turn to the Dark Side, you rebel scum! Seriously though, enjoy it. Just don't forget about us little people when you're strutting around in your comp cape. :P
  22. Well, there's only so much a maxed F2P player can do. I guess Water decided it was time to move on.
  23. Unfortunately, I think that might be a real possibility. Not everyone is going for max xp in every skill, but effigies certainly made max/comp much more realistic (well, at least max  ).
  24. I don't know if I'd agree that it's all that prevalent in the game. Honestly, I was shocked when Arceus posted the first draft of his article. I've been playing for over 6 years now and the worst thing I've ever had anyone ask was if I would "be my gf?" or commented that I was "hawt". Maybe it's because I'm not generally on w1, or even around Lumbridge much, but I really didn't know things were that bad.
