  1. I remembered a month ago I asked something about new membership, now thanks for you guy's help, I am doing OK on members, getting used to new skills. Now I think I am doing dream mentor to fully make use of the abilities of the lunar spellbook (for skilling,etc.) As with Cyrius, my confidence in my combat skills is not high. I also realise that in p2p many monsters that I encounter can be deadly, let alone quest monsters. So I just hope that someone who has fought that battle can give me some advices So I wonder whether my status will allow me finish dream mentor using the following setup; I don't have ancient magicks so I cannot use the simple way of blood bursting through the battle - Archer Helm - Black d'hide set - rune crossbow (mithril bolt x 250) - Ava's accumulator - Amulet of Glory Inventory Setup - Ranging Potion - Super Defense Potion - Shark x 26 My combat levels are shown in the signature.   2. As mentioned previously, Dungeoneering monsters has MINIMUM levels. Rift splitter imo is a harder boss (minimal level = 84), and its portal attacks are unforgiving (given how low maximum HP you have), and his hits are strong (even if you have pray mage on, let me tell u, he DOES drain pray), with around 90 combat I have died many times to him (I was careless, did not make gatestone teleport and found that I could not get out) Basically, i think furnished floor bosses will be off reach for you at this moment. Many of them are level 80+, and in f2p you have no way to fight back effectively against them. Soloing dungeoneering, however, i think is fun, and allows you control everything (better compared to be in a noob's team), and sadly, for your level at this moment, basically no random people will be willing to team you. Solo is the way to go (hehe I have never played in team, the experience is OK), 15 minute a dungeon is good (and probably maximum) based on what my limited experience; If you open all rooms kill all monsters this will be your time. IF you want to try: take your time, get best food, get full armor. If you just want to unlock the next floor for pestige, you can kamikaze your way to boss room - well, everytime you die, everything will be restored, so technically you can always get through a boss room albeit with many many deaths IF you find furnished floor too difficult, I am afraid that you probably need to stick with frozen and abondoned floor at this moment. Try furnished with at least combat 70+ in my opinion for reasonable rate (because you have little armor, your combat need to be higher. It is not like you can kill Elvarg with combat 40 because you took full addy armor, best food and strength potion, impossible in F2P if you want to cut your dungeoneering time)

These days, with such an economy, money making is difficult, people are more conscious and money spending is more deeply-thought @ Storm's Article: I would say, while envy certainly drives us to protest against those promotional schemes, I would rather suggest a sharp change of attitude towards promotion that causes such an echo. In particular, Jagex had previously stated that the promotion of p2p will be limited; that RWT is not tolerated (leading linkage of promotion benefits to RWT); that F2P will receive more attention. In view of the recent events, it seems that these promises are broken one by one. In 2007 we see Gnomecopters, a cheap (and uber fail way in my opinion) way to promote P2P. Jagex later removed it, regretting such a promotion approach. Likewise, agility shortcuts are no longer seen in F2P. Yet, these few months see an increase in promotion of membership, such as those free XP bonuses for membership referral. Later, Jagex added in-game items like ornate katana for subscribing using membership cards, or joining Runefest etc., triggering a discussion on RWT (defined by Jagex as exchange of in-game benefits using real life money). Although those items did not make any difference in skilling, questing, etc. , the fact that it can be shown off may be seen as a "benefit", and therefore, Jagex broke one of her principles and people reacted in awe towards such change of attitude. We must agree that F2P has received some updates during these few years, the most prominent example is undoubtedly the Dungeoneering skill. Yet, the artificial cap of 90 combat for 50% XP cut introduced later amidst protests of F2P players has nevertheless showed that the voice of F2P is widely neglected at best (while P2P deserve to train faster, a progressive XP cut, more difficult dungeons for high level players (plus more items for P2P to tackle them) will do the job). This sentiment of F2P is further cultivated by years of neglect (say, pledge for more spells in F2P, which at the end, F2P did got wind rush also!) Such a sharply changing attitude has already brewed player discontent for long. When F2P hiscore is removed (which has been serving F2P for 10 years), no wonder, F2P exploded. I am eloborating on the consequences of ignorance and turning a blind eye to F2P. And this matches the theme of Seer's article - namely, the shrinkage of F2P player base. @Seer: Yes, we are seeing problems with the demographics. Several years ago, F2P players are larger in number compared to P2P players (excluding bots). I cannot give any solid figures but that has been my impression when looking at server list: F2P servers are more full, and perhaps F2P got more servers than P2P exclusive servers. A lack of F2P players (especially those high level and experienced ones) will inevitably reduce the guidence that fresh F2P players receive, leading to bad impression in the eyes' of a new Runescape player. Fewer of them decide to stay in Runescape, and evolve into P2P players. In short, P2P will follow the fate of F2P. Jagex knows they are falling out of favor. But they use a wrong method to boost Runescape's popularity. Ads? They might help, but at the end, word of mouth counts. How often you make a purchase decision based on ads alone? How about friends recommendations? Some people will try to argue that P2P can exist as an individual game, even without F2P. But Runescape has many features that are not explicitly presented at the first glance. We need to keep a fresh player playing in order to let them experience the goodies. On the paper, Runescape sucks. Steep learning curve (imagine you are a newbie, and you want to train magic, meanwhile, you realise you need runes. But soon, you find that runes are expensive, but there is a way to make it yourself. You then plow through your quest list and find "Rune mysteries". Here it is finally, you mutter, and only by doing the quest you unlock this skill), poor graphics, poor music (compare to Skyrim!), tons of grinding. Nevertheless, what can turn the table into Runescape favor? Deep storyline, a good community (hopefully), sense of achievement. And the latter three are not seen immediately by a new players. And thus, and good community, especially F2P community, is needed.

  5. An interesting overview of all plotlines of Runescape Runescape has much superior lore than more MMOs out there. Don't let it fall.
  6. Just read news, comments, etc. when doing some less taxing tasks like woodcut or fishing I pay full attention when doing attention intensive tasks. I will do it bit by bit to avoid burn-out (Perhaps due to this none of my skills is 80+)
  7. It is not the hiscore that counts. It is the attitude that counts.If Jagex ignore f2p, sooner or later, nobody will play f2p runecape, and sooner or later, nobody will sign up for membership. As people retire from Runescape, the game will shrink and die. Jagex sure have lost their beloved Golden Joystick Award to new competitors (League of Legends? not sure on this) this year. What it indicates? It indicates that the game is no longer attractive to its rivals. A game is spread by the word of mouth. I am sure that you have played a game (outside Runescape) just because your peers have told you "it is fun" or "it is cool". Just look at the Skyrim madness these days. Yet Jagex tries to rid itself of its strength, trying to rely on p2p members alone. Nobody will buy pay $6 and become a member the first minute, especially given the economic situation today. The minute a new player logon and enters Lumbridge. His first impression: "****, Runescape is such a difficult game with so many skills, I don't even know how to start", and find that f2p Lumbridge is deserted, with nobody to help him. I am sure, the next minute, he will logout - forever. Not to mention that f2p quests are woefully unrelated to the main storylines. Runescape is already inferior when it comes to graphics, learning curve (even for members! Imagine you start training agility? Half an hour walk from Lumbridge!) and combat mechanics (yes, it SUCKS). If they rid themselves of f2p contents, Jagex will not manage to hold itself in the vicious competition of MMOs. Members will try to counter-argue that it is they who pay and therefore count. Well, not trying to argue that non members should get as much as p2p, but I think, a piece of update (quests, skill addon, minigame..., excluding graphical makeover / festival stuffs) once per 2 to 3 months will not be a lot to ask for. I think that will also provide some low level member contents that the p2p version of the game is kinda lacking.
  8. The demographics is basically similar to the past, except that imo efficiency is what is being over-exaggerated. People really need to learn how to relax a bit and enjoy the social aspect of the game. BTW, it is unfortunate but really you do not get to have a fun chat with many people now..

Went to kill some green dragons for d'hides and d'bones And in a server with only 200 guy I found 10 guy, of varying levels, 3 iteming and killing green dragons, and based on their silly actions (say, chase a dragon at far side rather than killing the one near it; or the response when a pker attacks them), I deduce that they are bots Back to topic: While supply of raw resources have declined, so are the consumption of them. Items like lobsters (commonly botted on f2p) is still dirt cheap, and is still not a viable way to make good money (Shark did shoot up a bit, not know if it is due to bot banished or what). Not expecting any major change of economy.

Certainly, religious issues are sensitive I understand that there are different people around. Some are atheists, some are agnostics, some are faithful and some are devout. And among the faithfuls and devouts, they are divided by different religious faith and denominations. I can be an Evangelist and you can be a Methodist. I can be a Christian while you can be a Muslim. There are different people having different beliefs around. Well, while I have to respect your faith (or your atheist belief), I would expect that others do respect my belief also. Drawing those pictures showing a Islamic prophet is just a silly way to show how disrespectful and immature we are. Yes, many people does that just for mere "fun". As a religious person, I cannot take any philosopers avocating a world without God a nonsense and speak against them vermently, and I suppose the opposite is true also. I do not think anyone can speak against any prophets or religious figure without respect. And nobody likes others poking fun of others that we love, respect or trust in. Religious figures is merely a subset of these people. People have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, but that does not mean that others' have to be offended by any of my speeches. IF I have that sentiment I should keep it private. And if I think no deities exist I should, instead of bashing any prophets that I see, express my opinion, through reasons and logic. And if others try to convert me, I suppose they should also do this through dialogue. Yes, religious compulsion is not an option here. And even in Islam, which is commonly thought to be compulsive, is actually otherwise. According to Quran, Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth has been made clear from error. Whoever rejects false worship and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that never breaks. And God hears and knows all things. (Quran 2:256) If it had been your Lords will, all of the people on Earth would have believed. Would you then compel the people so to have them believe? (Quran 10:99) I must say that there are extremists who kill in the name of their religions (even if their religions forbid so), but they do not represent the majority of the faithful. As the saying goes, "two wrongs does not make one right", offending a large majority of the moderate faithful, aginating them to act irrationally (e.g. plot a retaliatory act), increasing levels of misunderstanding and vendetta and obstructing the progress of mutual understanding betwen cultures, will not make those extremists disappear. Rather, one turns his neighbours enemies. This can be the most foolish thing for anyone to do. Therefore, to quench religious hatred, we should start with mutual respect and acceptance.   15. How about putting it in the vocanno next to the lesser and greaters as well? If they also make the vocanno multi combat then only the very best of f2p can kill it for the *hopefully* good drops. But its max hit of 16 seems a bit harsh on f2pers...
  16. I guess Jagex trying to give a p2p monster as a challenge for f2p players but not offending p2p members meanwhile. Definitely not for training, but for showing off skills and maybe a rite of passage to higher level, like crossing white wolf mountain is a rite of passage from lower level to medium level in p2p. As a free player, I will consider slaying one hellhound as a rite of passage from medium-high level to advanced level players. I will try one out later... (got any tips? and is my level enough to kill one using full addy and a load of lobsters --- full addy just on the safe side) I wonder what the reaction from p2p players will be if they add black demons --- especially if they can be ranged, and with all their good f2p drops
  17. I perfer a minimal deterrence and second strike stragety which a country keep a minimum nunber of nukes so that they are retaliate when being nuked but cannot effectively wipe out others if they decides to go on offensive
  18. You're correct about the unpopularity of vulnerability. But even so, giving f2p (and p2p) a better spell compared to it, in terms of cost and casting level, is quite absurd and likely to draw critism from existing p2p players. It is similiar to what happens if Jagex suddenly decides that they open some higher level but lesser used features to f2p, say crafting chaos runes Taking at least 100 death runes to finish the task does not imply you should get 100 death rune back afterwards. The DD doesn't give out any single rune. However, in DD, you need to burn a lots of runes to fight the bosses. Though you may argue that they give out more experience... If I say it is overpowered, compare it to other classes have got today. Effects like black out will make it extremely difficult for other classes to counterattack and vulnerable to sudden KO, and also enables it to escape when being attacked by rangers. Other spells which knocks one back by 9 squares also gives mages great advantage when chased by rangers or meleers. Finally, the increase in damage potential means mages are now equal to other classes when dealing damage. This makes meleers and rangers in an inferior position since they cannot pull out magick tricks. You attempt to make the spells more fair by limiting the number of casts in a fixed period. This may appear effective --- but wait --- Have you ever experienced any inability to teleport to Lumbridge because the timer was not yet reset? Please reckon. Finally, there are too many spells for the same function. Like slove and wilt. The higher levelled one may be intended as processive upgrades to old lower level counterparts, but this makes the spell book very clumsy. Finally, I am not very optimistic about this suggestion. The number of spells simply exceeds the ancient and lunar spell books (even including Lunar Mentor). Again, the paying members will resist, and will resist hard, to anything like this. They will say "I worked for 2 years before I unlock all the spellbooks, now you give f2p a superior spellbook than what I had achieved with my 2 year efforts?"

This guide is intended to be read by one fully capable of understanding English, so there is no need to use any 1337 to make your points clear. Rather, usage of 1337 will make your points vague and confusing. Also, you don't need to exaggerate when expressing your idea. I know you want your guide be relaxing, but exaggerating, again, makes it confusing. e.g. "Unfortunately these are glued to the floor, maybe with 9001 strength you can pick it up, but for now you will have to run back and forth. Good fight." can be simply be replaced by "unfortunately, the locations of them are fixed" Also, please give suggestions on the best anvil. The best anvil in f2p is the one besides Varrock West bank 2. For the ores, rather than giving equations like "price of ... at min" - "price of ..." - "price of ...", give exact figures based on current market info. For example, price of coal is 200 gp each... If you like doing math you can also calculate the gain / loss by smithing different bars or items using different approaches, e.g. superheating / furnace, etc. 3. About superheating ore: You don't need to worry about price fluctration much if you buy the ores, semlt the bars and then immediately sell them. Based on my experiments, you can smelt 800+ mithril ores per hour.
  20. I usually uses mouse but I can use the touchpad well as well. I have tried winning rangers in hill giants using a touchpad and the keyboard only, much to the disguise. (To further their anger, I was using melee when I occuplied the large proportion of hillies) In f2p server of course BTW, just a tip to using touchpads --- set it so that you can click by tapping the touchpad rather than using the bottoms next to the touchpad. It is much faster.
  21. AAH... don't forget that the rewards are very lurcative EVEN by p2p standards. 500 death runes? That is 150k. 10000 exp is also quite heavy...

There is noway to defense --- it is VERY overpowered Its capability has already transcended many p2p spells e.g. Wilt = Vulnerability at MUCH lower level and cost Apperate will make every teleport largely obsolete. The rune cost, is not really a problem for p2p players.... Rather, I would support one or two more combat spells with max hit around 20 or so, and several non combat spells for skilling, similiar to Lunar spells. Teleport spells are more than enough in f2p given the limited size of its map. Lumbridge --- home Varrock / Falador --- teleport spell Draynor --- cabbage ring Barbarian village --- skull skepture (spelling?) Also the runecrafting tablets covering from Rimmington (air) to Goblin Village (mind). AAH I would support letting f2p get snare as well

I can be mostly self sufficient, but I don't do so most of the time for example, I prefer buying rune essence than mining them myself, also as f2p, I cannot craft my own natures, or so, so I need an external supply, except if you include killing thousands of dark wizards for their rune drop About 80% self reliant

  25. Do your own research. There is nothing that we can help you because what mentioned here will soon become worthless of flip merchanting. Secretry is the key. If everyone does the same item then the supply /demand will change, and basically its value of merchanting is lost My brother used to earn big by flip merchanting bronze arrows, when GE was first released. He bought them en masse with 4gp ea and sold them for 6gp ea. But soon everyone followed suit and GE changed so it is no longer viable to merchant like this. He moved on other items. I suggest you checking the market trend yourself.
