  1. To add to the advice toward Hakaan (although istolethepie's is definitely worth heeding): Think of avoiding negativity as a skill like any other you have to learn in life. If I were to tell you to punt a football perfectly, you'd fail msierably (I'm assuming you don't play football [American football for you European folks]). However, if I gave you a year to practice at it and you did every day, then you'd likely succeed. You can't just go out and become betetr at something instantly. It will take work, take sacrifices, and take discipline. There are a million ways to avoid extreme negativity. For example, I have a little voice in my head that calls me on my [cabbage] when I start acting whiny (some of the time, at elast, I have my moments like anyone). Other people will just compliment themselves/state how nice their lives are into a mirror daily (it's corny, but if you hear something enough you'll inevitably end up believing it). Basically, everyone* has something that stops them from being a depressed [puncture]. It could just be a need to be liked by others that makes them watch themselves, or a sense of stubborn pride, or any of a variety of things. I can't list them all ebcause each eprson deals with life their own way. So, next time you're angry, think of how stupid you're being. Next time you're disappointed, realize how little you'll care in a week, a month, a year. And I strongly agree with what was said about getting a real life hobby being essential. Soemthing to drive you. Mine is the amrtial arts, some people like music or soccer. Your's may be ballet for all I know, but find something you enjoy (spend a day googling stuff and making a list of thigns to try, then another trying them all), and do it. Do the [cabbage] out of it. Because beyond anything, a hobby will never betray you, never intrude when you don't want it to, and never disappear. My post was probably rather rambling, but I'm not the best at this whole advice thing. But you remind me of some people I've known, and even how I once was a little, so I felt the need to post. *albeit, I'm sure for many it's involuntary or generally so antural that it isn't noticeable, but we all have ways of "snapping out of it."
  2. What I'm really curious of is this: If aplyer were to join today, and used all of the best methods and put in a grueling schedule, approximately how long would it take them to reach where the current high ranekrs are now? About two years? Three? Five?
  3. Constantly being paranoid of being murdered by the dreaded swarm.
  4. This is where the chat timer comes into place... and it logs out every 6 hrs so goodbye overnight botting. either way its a pretty big burden. Chat tiemr would be undone by a bot that ahs an autotyper built in. Just have it say "I love woodcutting" every half an hour. And admittedly it could stifle botting to a degree, but botters would adapt as well. (Aka swing by to log their bots back in ever morning and evening.) It would slow them down though, which is good. It wouldn't stop it outright at all, though. Just make it a bit less convenient.
  5. I've updated the main post to include all of the changes I've made. Please re-read it and of course tell me any issues that you've found.
  6. However, couldn't a bot user simply manually log their bot in before running it?
  7. That could actually be a perfect solution. Jagex would enjoy being able to ask really stupid questioons (just imagine the puns), and if it was updated daily, bots wouldn't be able to keep up. Questions would have to be obvious of course, though. Like "I like cabbages. What do I like?" And have a disclaimer saying their obvious so idiots don't get themselves banned. As far as I know, bots can't answer varying questions that are answered via a typed answer, right? (It would have to be specified to never use caps, and to always use numerals in place of the words for numbers, though.) Great idea. If only Jagex could see this. They will, but not until I perfect it so they have no excuse not to implement it. Then I'm spamming every mod's cc until they look at it.
  8. How about random questions that are writtien by jagex staff each day? That could actually be a perfect solution. Jagex would enjoy being able to ask really stupid questioons (just imagine the puns), and if it was updated daily, bots wouldn't be able to keep up. Questions would have to be obvious of course, though. Like "I like cabbages. What do I like?" And have a disclaimer saying their obvious so idiots don't get themselves banned. I still have my Yu-Gi-Oh deck, tbh. And who remembers Man Eater Bug being considered a minor god amongst cards?
  10. I've brainstormed on this all day and: To stop abuse of choking is really, really simple. A player can only be choked once every ten minutes. By anyone. As for bots adapting to this system, I can't fully argue against this as I don't fully understand how bots work. So could someone help explain to me what system they use? Do they use colors, code, ID numbers, or what? Since colors could be stopped by the "No" being randomly colored, obviously. Code or ID numbers would be ahrder, and would likely require Jagex make the ID number or whatever of the "No" easily changeable from the get go, and then just swap it regularly. However, I don't know if that's possible. (Also, I've since thought "choking" could be frowned on by Jagex for being too wantonly violent. If so, I propose it be called "checking" or "bot checking".) I'll update my main post tomorrow to add in the changes I've made, and I'll also look up everything I can on how bots work and such to figure that out. However, I'm not resting until I can make this idea work, or I find that it working is utterly impossible.
  11. The "No" being a random combiantion of colors would prevent it form being picked up by color censors (I think), and also make it stand out enough for a eprson who is looking for it to find it. And sicne the "No" pops up in a random location on the screen, the bot can't simply click a specific spot. And if bots could avoid it by spam click every bit of the screen, the "No" could even float around (but not so quickly that a player wouldn't be able to click it). Bots can react to dynamic situations, such as entering in a pin number. I'm sure it would be able to handle this. I'm not really an expert on bots, but I always figured that dynamic bots were based on ID numbers/ colors. So if both of those varied, wouldn't it confuse the bot? No, as you could only choke every 10 minutes. "You" could. But in this day in age, no one ever does anything alone in Runescape. Even a group of ten players could only do this ten times per ten minutes. And the fact that there would be a ten minute wait would make most trolls get bored and give up. As for "choke bombing*" (a group of 20+ players hounding one player), I guess you'd just have to world hop. Although I can't see that being an issue against anyone. After all, since when did random Runescapers ever cooperate? (As for clans, it could simply be against the rules to coordiante mass chokings of a single player, as it would fall under the "harassment" rule.) *What I will now refer to massive choke spammings perpetrated against a single player. Sorry if my post rambled, as I'm posting while half asleep.
  12. No, as you could only choke every 10 minutes. As for afk players, they're the only issue I I don't have a solution for. Maybe something along the lines of a sound alert or players can only be choked if they're performing an action? (like woodcutting, running around, typing, etc)? Or even both?* And admittedly this wouldn't stop all botting. Frost dragon bots and such would be immune to this, but it would remove woodcutting bots, autotypers, and other such bots. And as any free player can attest to, those are most definitely an issue. Better to stop some bots than none, right? *I actually really like the idea of choking only being possible when an action is being performed, as this would save all afks other than a few like fishing, but a sound alert or just a tad bit of vigilance by the player could prevent those. I'll update the main post if no-one finds any huge flaws in this idea.
  13. Basically: A "choke player" option, or something similar. Yes I am serious. (Although the name of this option could be changed to "check" or "bot check" if Jagex finds "choke" to be too wantonly violent.) How it would work would be that every player has a "choke" option along with the trade, follow, and other such options in their right click menu. When selected a large notification would pop up, which would explain briefly what choking is, and then ask an obvious question*. It would also specify that all answers may only use lowercase letters in their answers, and that no numerals or other characters would be accepted. These questions would be changed daily by Jagex, to avoid bots adapting. These questions would be obvious enough that no Runescaper could get them wrong. Eg: "What does 2+2 equal?" "I like cabbage. What do I like?" "What letter does 'cat' start with?" Basically, this would make the bot-detection system player-run. This would save Jagex man pwoer being wasted on battling bots with code and such, sicne they'd only need to think of new questions daily (many of which could be aletrations on the basic "I like ___. What do I like?" and "What is the first letter in ___?" formulas. If a player fails to answer their question within three minutes of being choked, or answers wrongly three times, they will be send to a black room (think the void where banned people used to be sent), and automatically given a high priority report for botting. They'd be released from the room once their report is processed. To prevent this being abused to harass normal players, I'd suggest that it be unusable in "dangerous" areas, and only useable once every five minutes. On top of this, after a player is choked, they are then unchokeable for the enxt ten minutes, to prevent clans from hounding their opponents. As well as this, an idle character would be unchokeable, as well as a cahracter who was in their bank. If a player is typing, or performing an action hwoever, they would be chokeable. On top of this, a loud noise would be played when you are choked. Obviously this solution will not stop things like Frost Giant bots or other bots that operate in dangerous areas. Hiowever, stopping some bots is better than stopping none. Especially since this could possibly make things like woodcutting in f2P Draynor possible again. Feel free to rip my idea to shreds or glorify it, depending on how many faults you find. I simply request that you try to find solutions to any issues you detect, as it seems that the only way to solve the bot issue is to stop expecting Jamflex to puzzle it out themselves and get on it. **I have updated this main post to include improvements that were neccessary.** *Much thanks to sirrofcat for suggesting this idea. May he have many strong children.
  14. Switch names with each other. :D Don't forget to use their signature and avatar too to make it more believable. Let's do this.

I was always considered the most likely to snap and kill everyone. Mainly because I am a wealth of knowledge on, umm, 'unconventional' things. Hey, I was considered that too! Mostly because in 9th grade we had like five bomb threats, and by the third one (everyone was still freaking out due to them) I was just trolling. "Oh I see smoke!" "Who's that man walking around!?" And so some girl told me I'd probably end up bringing a gun to school. I admit I was being a [bleep], but not a murder-y [bleep]. But does this mean that TiF is full of suspected serial killers? I've never been suspected of being a future killer. I've been told I'd make a good bank robber though. TiF crime ring meets next Tuesday. Bring your drug cartels and molotovs for the afterparty.

...Those eyes. They stripped my soul bare. :ohnoes: I remember playing Pokemon (the card game) in school, and when everyone supposedly grew out of Pokemon and started playing Yu-Gi-Oh.
  18. They'd better not succeed. Facebook is the only way I can communicate with my girlfriend right now.
  19. And it's not like you go to a prayer rally and say "Yeah God can't/won't help us guys, sorry."

I'd let you filet my mignon anytime. Oh, and this didn't happen today but it's the most interesting thing that's happened in a while for me: I'm testing for my blackbelt before the end of this month! \:D/
  21. D: And it's spelled Genghis Khan... :o I blame Mount&Blade Warband for my inaccurate spelling. ... Worse than the day Genghis Khan invaded India?! No such worse. If it makes you feel better, there are enough variants on the spilling of his name that you're probably right somewhere. On a related note, my AP European history teacher from a few years back who knew NOTHING about the subjects. She answered almost all of our questions with "I dunoo, why don't you look it up as a little independent project?", and taught us several things wrong. Also, she never even finished the unit, and we had to all study the 1950s-present independentally because she decided to spend several weeks on the Holocaust.
  22. Dude, what's wrong with her in that picture? She's got like some kind of weird fungus on her arm, and I don't even want to know what that is up her skirt. I'll assume that pic is shopped. That weird fungus is rain. It grows [bleep]ing EVERYWHERE when it gets cloudy (but only sometimes).
