  1. Edit: link wouldn't work qfc on rsof: 15-16-879-60205494 A thread where people who finished the quest say their cb lvls.
  2. True, that is why I said "let's wait on guides, new techniques, ... to answer this question" I meant that alot of people like quests, doing quests at the first day of release was only a point to show that alot of people like doing them. Btw: I am not complaining, I'm max combat and won't have a problem finishing this quest. I would find it unfair though if 'average' players aren't able to complete it.
  3. Awww poor you.. Lol yes, poor me. I'm a girl and can't handle the pressure right? Or maybe I'm just annoyed at condescending children who gain their self-worth and self-respect off what they can achieve on an online game. In any case, I'm not worrying about it anymore. People know my opinion and I have many agree, I also have many that attack my making of criticisms rather than the criticism itself. So to you, them, and this quest, you can all get the single finger salute. I have to work now and do something constructive in this world. Calm down. You know you have a dissenting opinion and you know you like to vent it, take the hits and strike back. 8-) 'get a life' isn't really a good point though... :-P
  4. You can debate if it's opportune to put such a difficult boss fight in a quest. Alot of people wear their quest cape with pride, doing the new quests immediately at day of release without guides. Now those people are forced to train combat skills. You'll say: those whiners! Jagex does what they want. (in other words: we aren't allowed to question their actions, thus reducing us to sheep? ) BUT. The highest skill lvl required nowadays to obtain the quest cape is 75. (spicy stew makes this number even lower) So if we continue on this point: a player with 75 att/str/def/hp/mage/range/summ should be able to defeat this monster, if this isn't the case (let's wait on guides, new techniques, ... to answer this question) it isn't fair in my opinion. Questcape should be obtainable for the average player, not only for combat-based players. Or do you think it would be fair if Jagex made 91 rc a quest requirement?
  5. Thanks for posting this here! Otherwise I never would've known. Makes me feel happy I barraged til 99 mage while it lasted... :) Can't wait to start this new quest. Boss fight looks epic. As special weapon I'll try statius warhammer, works for me on solo Bandos trips. 8-)
  6. If I get it correct, mint cakes are that attractive because people can still stake them. When mint cakes keep on rising, they'll loose most of their attraction. But what if people could find a semi-rare item which has a fixed price ceiling of 20k or under. This would be usable for stakes forever and it could keep its status too if it was rare enough.
  7. Soul Wars is correct, 2 minigames then, compared to 4. The rest of the updates you speak of, I didn't forget. I just didn't find them worth mentioning... Logout-timer increase. Indeed, it's helpful, but I don't think that takes alot of time to program. Magic update. Imo a tiny addon for an existing skill, which alot of people won't use since claws of guthix hit higher. (you're talking about surges, right?) Route finding update: great update, other years things like this get fixed too though. Run energy update: great update. The bards might be appealing to some, you're correct. But the thing people really liked was increasing the restore rate of energy. Update for this year: take away the energy bar? Alot of people will be pleased, I'm sure... :^_^: There were alot of updates in 2008 I didn't mention either, you could go through that list too and find alot of things like the ones you said I forgot on the 2009-list. I'm almost out of content (skills to lvl up until the point you have nothing extra to do) and I want the shiny metal. Also it makes me sad when I see alot of my longtime friends leave this game due to the lack of new challenges when Jagex could have made them stay. Imo they have alot of staff working for them and to me the end result of 2009 is quite meager. You have the right on your own opinion though. Tiny bit OT: Yesterday evening I took a look at the 2008 Jagex financial report. Total turnover: 32.2m profit before taxes: 14,5m That's alot of profit for that turnover. And costs include wages of Funorb and Stellar Dawn, these aren't (will they ever be) self sustained parts of the company yet I think. (So if they really wanted to keep their costumers happy, they could've thrown in an extra 5m on Runescape and stil have a 9.5m profit margin before taxes. New content updates and bug fixes every week, hooray!)
  8. Were you playing the previous years? Last year we had alot of game fixes that people found equal to new content. Other years we got alot of new content AND bug fixes. The player base is huge, we pay them alot of money, is it really that harsh of us then to ask for nice updates? The economy is ruined, look at the price of about half of the treasure trail-rewards, all bought out. So is every semi- hard to get item. So called 'merch-clans' shoot up like mushrooms, scamming the inexperienced out of their money. Last year price manipulation was illegal, how is f.e. "verac skirt 2.5" not price manipulation? What did Jagex do? Nothing... 'Junk trades are fine' comeone, really? So what are those pretty awsome updates this year you speak off? Mobilising armies? That was hyped big time as being a huuuuge update, it got postponed for months because of numerous bugs. First day of release you were stuck at the first scenario and 99.9% doesn't even like to play it. New pvp-drops? BOOM -> hyperinflation. (allthough I was glad they removed d full helms/dfs/etc. but replacing a bad decision by another bad decision just isn't smart. ) Herblore update: how many times did this get 'fixed' afterwards? Extreme pots not available in pvp, magic pots rebalanced, ......... I have to admit I liked the agility/wc/mining/fishing updates, but all they really do is filling gaps and making skills that alot of us find boring, less boring, thus liked. Compare this to 2008: Runescape HD While Guthix sleeps + tormented demons (dragon claws + dragon platebody) Summoning Vinesweeper Bounty hunter Smoking kills: slayer helm + slayer points Lumbridge/Draynor/Fremennik/Falador achievement diary Item lending Runecrafting Guild Bork/chaos tunnels Distractions and diversions (circus/shooting stars/penguins) Corporeal Beast Stealing Creation To sum it up: a new skill, 4 achievement diarys, 4 minigames and lots of other goodies. 2009: Phoenix Seers/Ardougne diary Evil trees Mobilising Armies Aquanite (talk about a much hyped but minimalistic update) Menagerie Dragon pickaxe/hand cannon Living rock caverns Photo booth Kuradal (aka: more of the same monsters in a different place) New prayers (awsome update, I'll give you this one  ) To sum it up: no skill, 2 achievement diarys, one (lousy) minigame and some(times enjoyable) other stuff. Overall and in my humble opinion updates last year fell short and in alot of cases they were not well thought out. It seemed at some times they abandoned Runescape to work on other games like Funorb and Mechscape. The previous times we had to wait over a year for a skill, RS2 and Summoning got introduced, so let's hope for the best. (Summoning was introcuced on 15 january 2008, if we don't get a new skill soon it will be over 2 years) Yours sincerely, (and sorry if my English isn't that good) Tim
  9. 3 whips from one abyssal demon task. woohoo! For rarity: 2 shield left halves, 3 granite mauls and a mystic robe top from a gargoyle task.
  10. Alot of players are indeed panicing. I think that this is the cause of prices to drop significantly atm. But as usual with a panic drop, I also think prices will shoot up again in a (few) day(s). My advice: if you have alot of junk, buy crashing items with lots of junk, hold it and sell your rising item on ge again. In the last crash, I bought a dfs for 22m cash + 12m junk and sold the dfs a week later for 36m cash. Result: 2m profit and got rid of 12m of the worst crashing junk imagineable. (black flowers btw)
  11. I hope they do, I'd love to see every price manipulator panic... "There is one other way to obtain a mint cake: During or after The Path of Glouphrie quest, Longramble will exchange a mint cake in return for delivering a Tangled Toad Legs. This can only be done one time. " credits: Runescape Wiki (the other way is by doing 'gnome restaurant'-minigame)
  12. they are not as bad for those who can use zamorakian spear + super anti fire + extreams ( i know that is alot but once you can do that black dragons are pretty easy. other then that they are an anoying tasl If you find regular black dragons annoying, you can kill baby black dragons in the chaos tunnels. It is the only task I get thanked by other players. (there are green dragons in the same multicombat room and baby black dragons autoattack)
  13. I didn't know that using slayer gear was an established way to kill KQ -- I'm a boss-hunting newb. Are you saying that people actually kill the KBD over 100 times on a slayer task? Yes, some slayers do. I did it too until I got kbd heads for in my poh. I saw alot of slayers at kbd in the 6 taks from Duradel before i got the heads. It is even not that hard to solo KBD, with lava titan teleporting you right next to its lair.
  14. CT is a way better place for them even if they were there :P Very cool update but the new dungeon isn't much of an appeal. Lots of people complain about campers but if you do your tasks the smart way and use the best spots you'll be quick to realise campers are almost never a problem (only exception I've found is hellhounds/blue drags. Despite what people think, it is easy to world hop and find an empty world for cannoning kalphites). Dark beasts - Much more convenient in old spot with the new teleport to the light temple. Gargoyles - Better in CT for use of combat familiar. Greater demons - Roughly equal to karamja dungeon (most 80+ slayers are 127+cb, I imagine 75+ are aswell) already, but karamja dungeon gives you the option of cannoning for those who don't mind the dogs. Blue drags - Never used a slayer master that assigned them, but with 70 agil I'm sure the crowding is bearable in Tav dungeon at non-peak times. Hellhounds - Only good monster in this dungeon IMO, but I still hate killing them. Abby demons - Decent, but using the fairy ring spot or slayer tower with air strikes is just as good. Iron/Steels - Kinda unneeded after the last update. In any case, I burthoped these even when they weren't as crowded, I blocked them when it became possible, and I'm not about to change now. However, the ring is nice. I'm just wondering if that +4 damage gives you exp as usual (most static damage doesn't gives exp, eg. RoR, retribution, vengence etc.). Also forgot to say, Jad reward is disapointing. It should only be offered once a week or so and offer a large reward such as 300k+ exp OR give you some awesome new item reward. Preferably not a trimmed fire cape since that's unfair on those who already have one (no, I don't have a fire cape right now. I'd consider it if the reward was better). Neither do I really care if lvl 3's can get a cape. They need to get a real job if they have that time to waste ;-) You're right in my humble opinion. The update is nice I suppose, but in essence it is a new dungeon with the same old monsters. I was hyped today when i heard the rumours of a slayer guild and maybe a new minigame along with it, turned out to be quite a disappointment to be honest. Good to see some new monsters on Kuradal's list, but here again... Why not add the statues from the bandos throne room to the list? Why not add chaos dwarf hand cannoneers/dwogres to the list? Both of them would be fun to slay and slayer would bring some life in areas of rs that took alot of time to develop and are now +- abandoned after the quest-hype. I'm sure you yourself could name some other monsters like these two.
  15. I agree. It seems that I will be sticking to duradel as my slayer master. Apparently you get the option to kill Jad or just regular tzhaars. I agree on the steel/iron dragons remark. You had the best slayer spot as an extra reward with the latest quest, why provide us with a new slayer spot for these creatures. With greater demons/iron dragons/steel dragons in kuradal's dungeon, brimhaven dungeon will become rather empty imo. Btw, with "Living rock creatures" on the list, supply of 'living minerals' in ge will increase. And this gives me an incentive to train fishing at the same time. maybe but i foresee most slayers might not take the time to use a pickaxe to get the living mineral. they should tho For a possible 2k-8k (stackable) reward from clicking on the remains, I think alot of slayers don't mind the loss of 1 inventory spot for the pickaxe. With all the unconventional assignments so far, this doesnt sound like the new slayer master for fast tasks/fast slayer xp...
  16. I agree. It seems that I will be sticking to duradel as my slayer master. Apparently you get the option to kill Jad or just regular tzhaars. Edit: like the 10 people above my post already said... :P I agree on the steel/iron dragons remark. 17. I wonder if you can put Jad on your block list. Don't want to do it again.. the horror.. :wall:
  18. Same here. :P I want a mini Graardor. +1 a mini kbd/corporeal beast please  *facepalm* This is how dissapointment are made: you see a little pointless detail and start making out stuff about it. Then people start to see your posts and tells their friends "Jagex are making new toys, I saw it on tip.it" Then when the day comes and you see merchadish or whatever you and the people who saw you are like "But you (Jagex) PROMISED <this and this> of merchadising, where is it?" They take Class 28 as a PRECAUTION of other people making money of their idea, so you won't see Hasbro (for example) selling runescape stuff without their permission Stop doing something big for something little (Exclamations marks -> Dungeons ring a bell?) And excuse my obviously poor english 1) It was not a reaction as in "omg they took that 'class 28', they must be releasing runescape toys. Probably with a dozen Chinese firms already mass producing it!" It would just be a great addition, other mmorpg's with a lower fanbase have toys. Why shouldn't Runescape have some? I can imagine alot of people actually buying this stuff. A win-win situation btw, some people like the toys, others will like the extra investment in Runescape itself from the profit they make on the toys. 2) We can't be held accountable for people who misinterpret our posts. Btw, I think you are correct that it is just a precaution. I don't expect anything from Jagex. If you keep your hopes low, every update is a good one...
  19. Same here. :P I want a mini Graardor. +1 a mini kbd/corporeal beast please
  20. Fliping does not affect supply or demand, because when the flipper buys the item, they increase the demand. However, when they sell the item, they increase the supply by exactly the same trivial amount cancelling out the first transaction nearly completely. The only thing that they affect is the number of people who get a good deal on whatever item the flippers are flipping. Finally someone who gets it :-) Just to add something. Say, the price is 75m and in equilibrum, then solo merchers will buy for 74 and sell for 76, keeping the equilibrum. hmmm, okay, but: From 12am-12pm a flipper is buying 10 sgs, he sells from 12pm-12am. From 12pm-12am a flipper is buying 10 sgs, he sells from 12am-12pm. (most flippers buy 5x4h and sell 1x4h, under ideal circumstances, so the supply taken away is even bigger) So from 12am-12am 10 sgs are taken out of the market? You're imo correct that flippers don't affect the market fully, but they do increase demand in this way I think. Thus driving the price higher.
  21. Hmmm, I always thought people in the game profited from (solo)merchanters too as they drive up the prices. For example: the 'saradomin godsword'. Assume that 100 people solo merchant these, 10 per day. (which I think is a low estimate) Take 75m as the price which resembles supply = demand without solo merchers. These 100 people take 1k (=100 x 10) saradomin godswords off the market because they are constantly buying and reselling them. Supply < demand -> price rises to a new point where supply = demand. The new price will be higher then the original one (>75m) and the sole cause in this are solo merchers. I know people aren't stupid and they will look for alternatives, but these alternatives are being solo merched too. Also some folks won't be able to buy the saradomin godsword at a higher price than the original one, so decreasing the demand side a bit. The 1k godswords taken out of the market by solo merchers make up for this loss by far imo. I only studied a beginners course of economics, if you find any mistakes please correct... :)
  22. Sorry to burst your bubble but even solo merching is now bad for everyone but the solo mercher. Back in the days, before the GE, merchers charged extra money because they did the effort to gather the items first, and then sell them to someone who needs them en masse and cant be bothered to spend hours getting them. Now, there is the GE, and merchers provide no service whatsoever. Some solo merchers are flipping Z spears. Well, expect to pay 200k under max, in stead of 100k above mid. They just stretch the the price range between getting an item instantly, and selling one instantly. To fit it into your example. You bought a zammy spear for 80k under med for merching purposes. Well, this guy who needs the zammy spear for corp could have gotten it 160k cheaper if you weren't merching it, since he could have bought the one you just bought. Where the hell are you saving him hours? You just ripped him off for 160K gp. And on the Chessy matter. I have mixed feeling here. One part says: she made the money, just like you, so why can't she buy what she wants. The other part says she's a price manipulator and is pulling in probably over 100m a day (this is a very very conservative guess). Imagine she buy's 3 santa's with this profit every day. That means in one year she will have bought 10K santa's. Now, if 1k wasn't already a monopoly, 10k surely is. EDIT: waah, I'm an idiot, it comes down to another 1K santa's, not 10K. Still, that's the double of what she has now, and she makes probably a lot more than 100m a day. It is true what you say about solo merchers increasing the price of items. But: a ) it also increases the price of drops (if people are solo-merching zamorak spears in your example, the people at godwars will get more cash for the item they just got as drop) b ) solo-merching doesn't make stuff unbuyable in ge, only makes it harder to buy at a lower price. Same thing goes for unsellable items, not gonna happen with solo-merching. c ) if the person is patient, he will get his zamorak spear for 80k under med, just like the solo mercher gets it 80k under med (also from your example) To sum it up: in my humble opinion solo-merchers don't mess up our economy, group merching does. Only point a) is true for group merching.
  23. Problem solved. Thanks for the answers!
