If someone's life is messed up to the point they no longer wish to continue it, let them put themselves out of misery unless you can help them out for real. In most cases, people just say they will help to sound nice and then can't do much about it, so let it be. I don't think it's nice to give people false hopes and delusions, and make them suffer even more. THen I can understand why people want to help... if I saw a friend of mine trying to suicide, obviously I'd try to stop him from doing so. But later I'd also feel bad about being responsible for him suffering for even longer than he already did. Hard choice, really.

Anyone else noticed that part of the neck on girls, pretty much where Dracula would bite, can really turn you on? Especially on blonde girls with smooth skin, makes it come out more I think, it makes them look really sweet when they smile. Feels nice to kiss them there too. And yeah, girl hugs can be win. <3:

It's true that muslims shouldn't be judged solely on the actions of fanatic terrorists 10 years ago, and therefore should be allowed to build whatever they are planning to build near Ground Zero. But still, people need to understand that not everyone thinks the same, some families may still be under the shock of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and they will take this construction as offensive no matter what you tell them. I believe they should be allowed to build that Mosque, but not yet. It's still too early for it, people need time to forget about the terrorist attacks and start accepting muslims more.

Recorded my second ever raid on the Kalphite Queen and decided to throw in some video editing for Youtube (but not much). Here's what gives: Youtube HD Video - This video will cause high CPU usage, to view the video in a lower quality, please click . Too bad for the ending.. thought the last shot wouldn't hit her <_< Enjoy!

Mine's running dual actually. One 500MB RAM chip and the newer 2GB one. As for weather, I really don't think it has any impact on it since it says it's at like 35ish degrees.

So I just came back from vacation, had left my computer in a perfect state last time, and now it's acting weird. When I turn it on, it works just fine, I can run any game at up to 120 FPS without trouble and quickly open any program. Then it progressively slows down, games go down to 10 FPS, webpages take considerably longer to load, to the point it freezes and makes me have to restart it. This never happened before, so I have no clue about what's going on. I don't know if this may b e the source of the problem but, last thing I did related to my computer's speed was to add a 2GB RAM chip, don't think the problem may come from there but I'm no pro either. Any ideas about what's going on?

Is Anyone Playing Dungeoneering for Fun?
Silvertaler replied to DeeKay's topic in General Discussion
Actually I only train it when I feel like hanging out with a friend of mine, which actually makes dungeons worth the time. Otherwise, I don't train it. So yeah, I guess I play for the fun of it. -
Made these out of the Dungeoneering cape stand in Daemonheim months ago, and I'm now sharing them with Tip It. Below are those I already created, which are free to use as long as you don't take credit for them. They make good decoration for blogs and goal threads, as well as clan websites. I'm accepting any cape requests right now, there are still many Skill Capes I haven't done and you can always come up with an infinite amount of imaginary capes. I may take one hour to make them as I may take a week, it depends on how available I am. Just leave a request and I'll PM you when I'm done if you want a specific cape. Enjoy! Hello there and welcome to my brand new blog! Since I'm moving here to Tip It, I decided to also set my new blog here. I had a blog on Blogger with about 117 entries before, but I lost it and had to start a new one, so I figured this would be the best place for a fresh new start. Hopefully I'll get to read and get read by better bloggers this time! So what's my very first entry about? Just introducing myself and my blog. Stepping into the dark and breaking the ice. So what about I start by introducing myself? I started playing Runescape in 2006, and ever since I can't say I ever was much of a hardcore player. My favourite activity in game is questing, by far. Taking on quests without knowing where they'll end, adventuring into dungeons without knowing what dangers await me, solving the most mind crushing puzzles for the fun of it, that's me. I suppose my second favourite activity would be anything community related, from large community events to just hanging around with a friend or two, I'm always down for that kind of stuff. Then comes skilling, which I only do when there's something in for me besides levels and a skilll cape. Currently I have two 99 goals, being Ranged so that I can deal with bosses more easily, and Construction so that I can finish my large, expensive house and throw in some house parties. Now about the blog, here's a little heads up about what you can expect from it. I'm an active blogger, I often post more than twice a week and I take all the time I need for it. In my blog entries you'll almost always find a lot of screenshots, I take quite a lot of them while I play since I like photography overall. My entries are always either quest reports, in which I just narrate my adventures, or personal reviews in response to in game content or to other people's opinions. I never post an entry just to say I got a level or two in one skill or another, we all know nobody really reads that. So yeah, got the whole thing introduced, time to begin working on it from tomorrow on. I'll be adding some stuff to make it look nicer and eventually make my first real blog entry here. I'll also be reading other people's blogs, hope I find some good ones, I always link the ones I like on my blog. ;) May Zaros be with you!
-
I'd like to reintroduce myself, as when I first joined I didn't stay for long. I'm Silvertaler, most people call me just Silver, started playing in 2006, proud quester. I think Tip It is a really nice community, which is why I'm joining it for good now. Hope I make a lot of friends around!

I'm sorry but: Derp Derp Derp. SHE IS NOT BASHING QUESTS. SHE IS GIVING HER OPINION ON THE SUBJECT. NOWHERE DID SHE SAY THEY WERE A WASTE OF TIME, THAT THEY WERE NONSENSE, THAT THEY WERE A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME ETC ETC. How many times must a person be told. This is Racheya's opinion. O-P-I-N-I-O-N. And no I'm not going to go as far as to post a pathetic video to explain it. And for the record: No one gives a [orange wedge] that your going to write a review about Love Story. Haven't you noticed that I haven't given a [orange wedge] about any of your posts either?... You really are wasting your time you know, I'm already giving you more attention that I actually have by letting you know that I have no intentions to talk with someone who spams "derp" and WRITEZ IN LEET CAPS LUL! First and last time I reply to you. She didn't only claim it was her opinion, she treated "quest phobia" as something universal in the end, I think it's you who should read again. Do I need to go and get quotes for you or can you find it yourself? Anyway, if you don't believe me.. why don't you go and put down skilling in front of some skillers right now in game? Go ahead and do that, you can even invite me to come so I witness it myself. Then when you get some reactions you can tell me if I'm right or if I'm wrong.

You probably mean for you this game has no purpose of direction through questing. Nope, the game has no clear cohesive storyline, the stories often add next to nothing to effect gameplay or the world . Storylines that might be important, stay open for so dang long any possible interest in them dwindles. Quests are no more important than skilling, no more less important, both are an equal time waste that are no more correct than the other. The skills vs quests debate is trite and rather pointless. I fail to see how people swear by quests being so great and entertaining moreso than watching paint dry or ceiling fan blades spinning, I can count the quests i've enjoyed on two hands, and considering the amount of quests, thats sad. I prefer PVP over skilling or questing, but the fact is, questing is nothing more than a slightly more complicated (depending on the quest) distraction and diversion. You mention questing and skilling as being equal, then treat PVP separately saying that you like it. Do you mean to imply PVP is more useful? Because, no points of view involved here, skills are necessary to unlock quests and new items, quests are needed to unlock some skills and also new items, but nothing in game is commited to PVP. I have never PKed in game and yet I have a Quest Cape along with skill total level of 1780. While I agree the three main reasons to play Runescape are skills, quests and PVP, each being able to deliver as much fun to the player, from a neutral point of view we could agree PVPing is the less important activity among the three. All you need to do is write an article, 600+ words, then PM it to me and it'll be added to our list of guest articles to be published. You'd have to come up with your own topic, though. And like it's already been said, it wasn't a review of questing, it was an opinion. And, if people WANT to bash on questing, they're free to. Whatever your favourite activity in game is, if someone comes and bashes on it you won't be happy about it. Go tell a PVPer that PVP is nonsense, that its useless, pointless, etc etc, how do you think he will react? Go tell a skiller than skill pures are a total waste of time and that they would be better of spending their time on a job than on skills, what do you think their reacting will be? Of course we have freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean you can leave respect for others out. I'll write the topic, it will be probably over 600 words, and I hope you're not just fooling me into wasting my time. I'll be doing Love Story tomorrow so I'll be reviewing that quest already (but not for you or for tip it), I'll get the one we're talking about done after tomorrow or so.

You call me immature yet you jump in the train and start attacking on me rather than on my points? Same goes for everyone else who did the same thing as above... pretty ironic of you. Fine, give me instructions on how to join the gues writing stuff, give me a topic and I'll gladly write any article if you really want to put me to test. I've been strongly deceived about nearly every single quest review out there, so yeah maybe it is time someone who knows what he's talking about makes an actual accurate review on questing, especially on some fan website where it can have at least some impact on the communnity and maybe encourage people to stop bashing on questing like you do.
-
I'll say it again. What games I do/do not play really has no relevance to this discussion so... I'm not sure what on earth is making me sound 'pitiful'. I didn't realise it was hard to fail at questing. As a matter of fact I can do quests fine - it's just that I don't like doing them. Also no matter how much they're your favourite thing, everyone has the right to say that they dislike it. That's what free speech is. And I'm sorry if it 'offends' you, but again this is a matter of just opinion. At no point did I ever single out any user or anything of the sort, I simply expressed my opinion and feelings about quests. You're right, if I liked questing I wouldn't have gotten anywhere writing that article. But I don't, so I did. You have NO idea about me. You've never talked to me. You're not my friend, or even someone who I regularly come across on the forums. Making assumptions about people based on an 800 word article is what makes you completely wrong. Many people on Tip.It can testify that I'm NEVER the person to whine about quests and rant. I never beg for guides or anything like that. In fact, I'm often the more positive person who'll look to find the good aspects of updates - including quests. Who am I? I'm Racheya, the Tip.It Times writer. Who's job it is to take another aspect on something - good or bad - and generate discussion. How on earth has my article backfired? One person (you) has found it offensive and even better, you're helping to create discussion. I didn't do that to cover my arse, so to speak, I did it because I didn't want to give the impression that I just HATE quests. Because I don't hate them, I like them in theory, but I dislike doing them. "I didn't realize it was hard to fail at questing" yeah, right, yet you're chickened out by quests. I may be opposing your opinion, doesn't mean I'm stupid and unable to see that. Got no idea about you? Maybe. But in this one topic, I have an idea of what you are, and that's what matters. Whatever way you act like in real life has nothing to do with this. Anyway, I don't really care much about this point here I'll drop it there. And if by telling me you're a tip.it writer you're expecting me to feel intimidated, then you can go back to step 1 with that my friend. Having a title on some forums means nothing, and your writing isn't particularly great anyway. How do I know? Because you can't even find good words to express your thoughts. Here you say you just "don't like quests", and on the post you claim to have a "quest phobia". Do you have any idea about what a phobia is? A phobia isn't about disliking something, it's about being afraid of something. So either you're totally confused in your mind, or either you just don't know what you're doing. Generate discussion.. that made me smile for real. You're not generating a normal discussion you're just generating trouble lol... "I just HATE quests. Because I don't hate them, I like them in theory, but I dislike doing them." LOL! Look, I'll make this easier for you to understand. This is what I read in my mind, when I read your ranting post: ... I genuinely hope you learnt something from this and will improve your next posts. I like reading the kind of stuff you write, it's nice to see other people's opinions. But if someone posts complete nonsense, or puts down something I like and backs his opinions up with more nonsense, I'm just not the kind of person to keep it for myself. So tell you what, since I'm a nice guy I'll read whichever post you make next and constructively comment it. I've been interested in finding a good Runescape newspaper for a while but didn't find one so far, so if you tell me you're all leetsauce at this then I'll come back too see about that. My expectations aren't very high anyway. Cheers.

That's the point, you PERSONALLY love quests - but this isn't the same for everyone, I do hope you realise. Everyone can have different feelings about quests and I assure you that there are people who have Quest Phobia. And I can assure you I pity those people. I strongly agree with Aceethan, the post was ridiculous. Stop doing riskless tasks such as no-lifing skills, get some games like Zelda and such and stop overacting so much over skills. My main reason to play the game is quests, and it sickens me to constantly hear people acting as if they were a minor activity in game, stop putting down other people's activities in game. You don't see people putting down skills, do you? It's really annoying how, when you like quests, you need to hear these people who have "quest phobia" whining all the time. Imagine that your favourite food is cake and everytime you had cake some guy was constantly blaming it next to you. Whenever a quest is out, every forums get flooded with immature kids spamming "guyde plz" "plz men y need halp with quest y am stuck" "plz post guyde", you go out and try to do the quest and you get 30 fools following you around asking for instructions, it gets pretty annoying. You don't like quests, you think they're just an obstacle and you absolutely need guides to do them, then don't do them. Get over it, they're just not for your level of questing experience, stop harassing those who love questing. Excuse me, but what games I like to play and how I play them should have no effect on you nor be any business of yours. At NO point in the article did I suggest quests weren't important. I quote "It would be stupid of me to say that quests don’t play a huge part in many players’ Runescape lives." I also say that "In theory, I like quests. I like the idea of breaking away from the grind of most other activities and delving into exciting new stories and plotlines with interesting NPCs and humorous dialogue." I think you're mistaking me for someone who goes on the RSOF. If you have ever seen me around update threads you'd know that I don't mind new quests in the slightest. I'm not the sort of person that NEEDS new content every week to be satisfied so please don't presume that I am. The main point of quest phobia is that you just avoid quests until you really HAVE to do them. I do believe that I am allowed to not like quests and at no point have I ever harassed quests either. I think you might need to read the article again, because you're certainly getting the wrong idea from it  I don't recall asking what games you play or claiming it was my business, but still go find yourself better games because whatever you're doing it's making you sound pityful on the thread. I don't care if you like quests or not. I don't care about how many excuses you bring up to cover the fact you fail at questing. What I care about, is that you're giving my favourite thing in game a bad image, and deliberately or not you're putting it down. When I opened up tip it and read "quest phobia" I was already taking it for an offence since "phobia" isn't much of a positive word. If you liked questing, you wouldn't have come up with such an expression, so don't come up with more excuses on that one. Think I'm mistaking you for someone who posts on RSOF... actually no, I don't think so, I know that you're just the same kind of person who goes and begs for guides whenever a quest is out, you've proved it to me enough. I know how people who don't like quests react to them. You just happen to speak English better than most quest ranters out there. You may be allowed to not like quests but who are you to go and put it down? The choice of keeping it for yourself or putting it down in front of others makes quite a difference. If your opinions wouldn't be unwanted/offensive, they wouldn't have backfired at all... in fact I believe you already knew in advance they would backfire which is why you took precautions and wrote sentences such as "bla bla i like quests & don't mean to put them down" etc. I've been through this several times and I know damn well what idea I'm getting from your post, because this is how it all begins. So yeah, if you don't agree that what you posted may be taken as offensive feel free to stay in denial, but do know that there are people out there who think this post of yours is pityful, ridiculous and offensive.
-

Silvertaler's Questing Manual [Updated 15/02/10]
Silvertaler replied to Silvertaler's topic in General Guides
Updated the guide. I've added an update log and improved the layout, hope it's clearer now. -
The scimitar has one extra bar of speed. If Jagex were to make bars for accuracy, I bet the longsword would be one bar ahead of the scimitar. The scimitar is best for fighting enemies with low defence, like when you're training. The longsword is better against quest bosses or other players where battles may be longer. It's the same thing as between godswords and whips.

Theres only one problem with this. What about the people who have an extremly high total (in the 2000's) but 1 very low level. Say they dont do summoning and are level 1 in that skill, that takes out their ability to get into a world just because they choose not to do that one skill by personal preferance, and will still have a much higher total than a good portion of the people in that world. I have a few friends that refuse to do summoning. They feel that it makes the game too easy and decided they wouldnt do it, unless they max out their accounts and have nothing left to do. These people would be excluded from the high total level worlds, because of that? Might as well remove quest requirements then... Some people including myself love questing, but even though they know how to solve them, they can't just because they don't like training skills. It's a personal preference. Following your logic, those kids of requirements should also be removed then. I do agree with the idea of having precise skill requirements to enter those worlds, it would filter out people who just rush the fastest skills to get to the same worlds as those who've worked harder for it.
-
Almost all the people on 1000+ freeplay worlds are members out of membership. How do you expect a freeplayer to go there and brag to people who's total levels are almost always superior? I'm currently out of membership and decided to chop some yews. The yews near GE were too crowded in most worlds, so I tried using the 1000+ worlds, hoping it would filter out all the low level freeplay skillers. Guess what, it makes absolutely no difference. I was far from being the only one having that idea: the yews were even more crowded by "retired" members. If the purpose of 1000+ worlds was to give people with high levels the space they need to train their skills more efficiently, then it failed miserably. Now in what regards 1000+ member worlds, when was the last time you've seen a member struggle to hit level 1000 total? Most members start out with their freeplay skills fairly leveled, getting to that total level is doable in a few days, it's just pointless to filter out all those who haven't been on members for more than a week. About the idea of having 1600+ member worlds, now that I can agree with. We all know skills get much harder to train after mid-high levels like 70. It would maybe be good to give more space to high levels, in order to reduce the increasing difficulty, and also for lower leveled players to not get disturbed by them.

"Who wants to be my GF/BF" - Any of you?
Silvertaler replied to REDACTED's topic in General Discussion
Just how hard is it for people to report and ignore others who ask them to be their girlfriend or boyfriend, Jagex has given everyone the possibility to do so. Mutual love in Runescape, e-dating? Runescape isn't a dating website, but anyway, why even e-date? Humans naturally demand physical and eye contact when in love. This form of love is a total contradiction, I wonder just how painful those people must feel. Plus, you don't know who's behind the screen. Even with photos and webcams and whatever, you'd be surprised to know what photoshop and other programs can do in these days. Your own security is in danger when you e-date. Adressing Ayisha's comment above, I don't think that saying you're an adult is a good solution here. There's many adults out there e-dating, so the people you were talking to will only take it for an "excuse" (I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but using logic to figure out their thoughts), others will take it for a lie, others for bragging, and others will take it for an extra reason as they "like experienced people". Now adressing Speedsktr, I think the reason why many people believe there are boys and g.i.r.l.s (Guys In Real Life) on the internet, is because many guys out there make girl characters. And it's true they just decieve others, which leads them to whine and say "everyone is a guy". Some argue that you don't have to get decieved because you're not supposed to "like" them, but still, everyone can agree you don't act the same way with guys and girls. Anyone feels awkward knowing s/he's been acting weird with the wrong person. So yeah, the real problem here are guys making girl characters, but that's another topic already. Whoops wall of text. :o -
You make a point insinuating that the silver crown only adds up to people's pride and ego. I never understood the purpose of player mods. What these people get from the crowns isn't only authority, there's more pride and fame in game here. Anyone can report players just like player mods do. I've once been in a community in which many people were player mods. I can safely say that the difference between these moderators and the "normal" players is mostly, I mean almost only, the fact that player mods know how to speak in posh English, like some other guy stated above. I've asked one of them, out of curiousity, what made him get the status, and he did reply to me that "Jagex chose professional looking moderators, you just need to look awesome when you type and they'll end by contacting you." So, if they're not always better than others, why bother making them look better and create more inequalities within the community? Jagex might have had other purposes in adding player mods, but in that case the real results weren't what they expected.
-
Because maybe there are other reasons to keep a blog up? I've always had my daily blog since I started membership. What do I post there? My questing adventures. I go there in the end of a day and post what quest I've done that day, how much fun I've had, my opinion on it. Well I've got the quest cape once and now I don't quest as much so I don't post. Can the Adventurer's log do that? I don't think so. Do I care if people read or not? No, it's mostly there for myself to look back at later on and remember good times. Then again, if some people like to post their everyday skilling achievements even though the Adventurer's log already does so, then let it be, nobody's forcing you to read them.

Silvertaler's Questing Manual [Updated 15/02/10]
Silvertaler replied to Silvertaler's topic in General Guides
Thank you =] I've been given information about Summoning, thus I've now completed that part of the guide. If anyone would like to add anything, feel free to suggest. :^_^:
