Russia declares that it can opt out of any all-European conflict, as it is part Asian.

Napoleonic Hegemony
This has the makings of an all-European conflict written all over it.

Politics isn't something that the tavern fails at. We just have a different kind of politics.

Is there anything wrong with a Napoleanic era game then? As it says on the front post, the game is about strategy instead of tactics. Do we really have to devolve into sending highly coordinated teams of spies, like the cold war? Why can't we stick with the politics, revolution, and huge armies of the era?

Thank you.

I thought it was pretty obvious why it was abusable. Of course, all of this talk of unconventional warfare tempts me to smash into Prussia, execute the king, and place the nobles in charge. Since you would probaly be playing the king's heir, the nobles would be too conservative to allow any of your ideas, so I don't have to think about unconventional warfare anymore.

Its not FAIR Dusty, Archi has been blessed with sense, reason and intellect, and is using them to beat me! Now the Archi I know wouldn't be using cheap shots like this. ;) Russian soldier: Commander, I spot five Prussian soldiers on a rickety boat! Commander: Quickly, mobilise the entire Imperial army!

Right, you can try that if you want. Remember that only Austro-Hungary and the Ottoman share a border with Russia. Prussia doesn't share a border with Russia, but Russia shares a border with Prussia, if that makes any sense. Also, don't you think that's at least a BIT abusable?

Does anyone still have that happy birthday song that Archi posted somewhere?

I have...two overseas provinces? Also, naval fortifications would slowly wear down your naval blockade, as most of my trade is overland through Poland. Russia wasn't exactly dependant on trade at the time.

Huzzah, marching through the Russian winters against an army which is still twice as large.

Napoleonic Hegemony
Yes it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Republic Accepting oppresive nobles into a republic? Hmmmmmmmm?
-
Napoleonic Hegemony
Russia reminds the Netherlands that it is a republic, so it should kick out the Russian nobles.

Russia asks for a guarentee from both sides in the American conflict, that her colonies in Canada and Alaska are not affected. (Basically, is your "get out of America" speech involving all of North America or just the 48 states)

Posts so Dusty can make another post without an ugly double post. EDIT: Crap Catherine agrees to those terms, having just fought a war against the Russian nobles. Construction of Sevastopol begins.

That's why I'm making them biologically immune to most viruses which aren't designed to specifically harm them (or evolved to harm them). I'll work something out.

Certainly, but I'm trying to sort out your evil plans from the flavor. It's hard to drink your smoothies when you know that once in a while, it'll be poisoned.

Well, if Dusty is allowing you to proxy the nobles or you're making up the rumors yourself, then I can't expect anything to come of it.

There's a war in Crimea? *Wonders why the Empress of an empire right next to the Crimea wasn't informed*
-
Napoleonic Hegemony
Catherine the Great offers Crimea the chance to join the great Russian Empire. Aside from officially joining the empire, it would remain autonomous in the sense that Russia would not collect taxes from the Crimea and nobles in the Crimea will retain their powers, as long as they behave in a fair way to their peasants. (Basically, eliminate excess cruelty) If they accept, they will gain a notable bonus over being a Russian vassal. Instead of providing a standing army for use in Russian campaigns, they would only be required to turn over a single province to Russian governance, the bottom province in the middle cluster of three. Any profits from that province will be given to the Crimea, but some of the taxes will be used to maintain a Russian presence. All of this is due to Catherine's latest plan: the construction of a great port at Sevastopol. It will be home to Russia's Black sea fleet, as well as a beacon of commerce in the area. tl;dr Crimea doesn't have to provide standing army that goes invading places around the world, in exchange for a great port in Sevastopol, run by Russians.

There might be a glitch that the bronze collosi can't die, because they are already "nonliving."
