  1. New land reforms have begun in Russia. Agricultural techniques like crop rotation and others are being implemented in farmland of a single province in Russia, to use as a test run. The techniques will hopefully boost agricultural production by over 30%, as the Russian farming system was always outdated. Nobles will then be asked to reduce their taxes, as the increase productivity means that they should still receive the same amount of income. If a village/town (like I was telling Dusty before) meets certain production quotas, producing surplus agricultural goods for the imperial government, the funds from that surplus will be used on providing clinics and better housing for the inhabitants of the town. Note that this is only happening in one province. If it is deemed to work, it will be used in the other provinces in a rotating basis, until the reform is done in around eighteen years. It won't be too fast, to make sure it doesn't give a shock to the system in place.
  2. Well consider that if you were allowed to tax, you would be taxing from other countries. Don't think we'd like it that much. ;)
  3. Being a forum instead of a subforum would get us more exposure. After all, when you get to the Falador Library page, you basically stop and turn back.

Frankly, I don't think Dungeoneering and Hegemony are compatible. It would lead to twice as many conflicts. Might as well just play both on separate threads.
  5. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Or someone could just make a dungeoneering game...?
  6. I meant that if we had some sort of international organization, they could block countries that did not comply with the laws. For example, Sniper was saying that it wouldn't be beneficial for China/India/other countries to adhere to anti-piracy laws, so if they didn't use significant measures to try and stop piracy (it could be judged, like the internation monetary fund reviews countries to see if they are in compliance of certain regulations in order to get loans), the country would be blocked from the internet.
  7. Total budget: 29,700,000 (Russian budget) + 1,290,000 (10% of Poland's budget) = 30,990,000 Ten generals and ten admirals = 2,000,000 Russian Expeditionary Force = 9,800,000 Three colonization attempts = 3,000,000 Army of Alaska (1,000 skirmishers) = 1,200,000 Imperial Russian Navy (six frigates, one ship of the line) = 5,200,000 Total Coast = 21,200,000 Remaining budget = 9,790,000 Two Russian frigates head out for Alaska and plop down colonies in the marked areas. They are accompanied by a thousand skirmishers led by General Petrova (winter specialist). Their instruction is to be kind to the natives inhabiting the area, and to set up nice colonies to bring back furs to Russia.
  8. Well the Austria and Portugal aren't exactly near each other. I don't think Austria is an important part of Portugal's economy. Of course, it doesn't really seem worth it to fight for that amount of money.
  9. The problem with any type of world government is that as of today most nations in the world are led by unelected, unaccountable and generally thuggish leaders. Such people would necessarily have influence in any potential type of world government which would invariably be negative and keep such a group from doing a good job. Take a look at the UN for one example - it's consistently mired in corruption and generally useless. Any "world government" type body would be similar. Additionally, differences between national economies mean that it is in the interest of some countries to not respect intellectual property rights. Simply put, it is far easier for China/India/(insert 3rd world nation here) to copy western technology then to buy it, or build their own. Such a fundamental conflict of interests makes international enforcement bodies unworkable. I'm not sure about how the internet works, but could you simply block an entire country from the internet?
  10. I want to be world dictator when I grow up (in a nice kinda way! Helping people while skimming money from the top for myself) I have a terrible fear of swimming pools I have an even worse fear of failing a class, meaning that I am overcoming my fear of swimming pools and learning to swim, so I do well in gym class. I can only eat dark green vegetables. I've watched so many Seinfeld re-runs, that I can remember the plot of every episode after seeing the first minute of an episode I have an answering machine message which was directly stolen from an answering machine message used by George from Seinfeld. Link to message I'm a hopeless romantic.
  11. Okay, that has been paid. -forks over money- Now to start keeping track of my budget before I go into debt.
  12. How much is the total bill Archi? I can pay for that. Also Earth, if you need a loan or anything, I can try to help you with that. Interest free, so that it's better than trusting the bankers.
  13. Since you are going through some hardships, I will lower the "budget givingness" to ten percent and give the three southern provinces back.
  14. It's suggested to be six because it has to be an even number. Remember that each real life day is equal to half a year.
  15. You are stuck without money. I don't want to attack, but I need to gain something from Poland. Otherwise, I'd simply be a neutral party that wouldn't help and might even take advantage of a Polish weakness to take some provinces. Besides, like Dusty said some ways back, you can't completely take over a country. At most, you can win a few provinces in a war. Certainly, I was not trying to knock Earth out of the game. I will be willing to accept the deal if we remove the clause about ceding the three southern provinces.
  16. Well if Poland wasn't going to be helping me, then it seems better to smash them open. Facing twenty thousand Russian regulars is definitely worse than ten thousand irregulars, especially when you factor in generals and stuff. I thought Archi meant that if he didn't cancel the deal, he was going to either not help Poland or help the protestors.
  17. Not if that friend were dead. (Not implying that I would kill friends btw!) Earth, if you can deal with the protestors with your army, then there won't be an issue. I'm simply keeping my armies on standby incase you need them.
  18. What would be so bad about it? Also, if he sides with the protestors, then it is siding against Russia. Oh Icu, I may have to withdraw the expeditionary force in America to deal with this, but then I'll send them right back.
  19. Russia offers to smash the rebellion.
  20. When my carriage pulled up into the circular loading zone where the guests arrived, I could only stare in awe at the marvelous building before me. A small wooden sign confirmed that I had arrived in the land of Off-Topics. I quickly thanked by driver for journeying from the faraway lands of the Falador Tavern, bringing me safely and quickly to my destination, before tossing him a few gold coins left in my pocket. Rushing up the marbled steps into the main hallway, an attentive doorman took my coat, which was probaly ratty compared to the usual fur and silk outfits he usually took care of. I heard a cacophony of strange noises, seemingly unrelated but nevertheless, forming a perfect harmony of sounds. The interior was rather plain, much to my disappointment, as the Taverners originally from Off-Topic had said many positive things about the area. Soon I was usher through a large pointed doorway with iron-reinforced oaken doors. The marvelous court that lay behind the doors was filled with splendour. A chandelier with mis-shapen glass hung from the ceiling, while paintings and frescos of random events filled the room. The dozens of people in the room continued moving around, joining one group in a heated discussion before leaving to join another group. I had heard so many stories about the off-topic forums, but now I was finally here. After looking around and enjoying the sights, I headed outside and purchased a summer home in the area with my spare change, so that I could visit often from the Tavern. --- Hi everyone, I'm Retech, from the Falador Tavern. Out of all the posts I've made, all but ten or so are in the tavern. Off-Topic was probaly the most interesting for me after the Tavern, so I finally decided to stop by. I may have a tendency for rapid-fire posting from the Tavern (on really busy days, we could probaly rack up ten posts in a minute), but I will try to cool that down here.
  21. You will find out tomorrow. Mwahahahahahahahahahaha. Seriously, it's nothing sinister. Just need Dusty to confirm it.
  22. Earth, did you send the PM to Dusty? Also, I just went over to off-topic to post on some topics. They post soooooo slowly compared to the tavern. There are eight active users, but since I started posting thirty minutes ago, not one has posted. Infact, I have around five or six topics with the last active post being mine. <_<

I'm a recovering "lol" addict. I have used it on countless occasions in the uses that mentioned on the OP, and I am ashamed [sarcasm]. After you start getting into the habit of it, it's too hard to stop! Maybe the solution is to censor the word on the forums! Not just our forum, but all over the internet!

For some reason, I've always hated shoes with colors other than a classic white. So I wear a pair of classic Reeboks, which look really out of place in America. Why do the English always get the better products and we're stuck with "Sketchers" and McDonalds [unrelated fast food rant].
